I recommend this show to anyone who enjoys or hates video games, but if you have strong emotional ties to the BBC classic “Bag Puss” then maybe only listen to this in a place you designate as a “safe space”. Sometimes I’m scared of this show.

I’m unsure whether or not this is some type of fever dream. Pretty sure it’s real and pretty sure it’s fantastic. But I can’t say for sure.

I have been making my way through all the sans-pants shows and wasn’t excited to listen to this one cause the only video game I have ever played is Minecraft. Since starting in January I have listened to every episode and am eagerly waiting by phone every week for a new episode. It’s all the best dumb nonsense of having two video game boyfriends who rant to me about the games they play while I nod and smile but I don’t know what they are yelling about. It’s nice

With a great roster of mostly recurring guests, in-jokes, the indefatigable Mr. Ads, flawless spoilers, ratings, and monthly theme systems, and a completely normal email segment, I can undoubtably say you never know what each week’s show will bring. That uncertainty keeps Thumb Cramps feeling fresh far longer than other podcasts, even if after ten episodes you wonder whether Jackson even likes playing modern video games, or if he would just be happier playing 80s high score arcade games for all eternity. Seven thumbs and a knuck, fairly confident it is on the short list for being in the top three podcasts of the year, if counting down or up. Shout out to Mud, and the long lost Thumb Cramps Jr.
