MJ Towler aka the Black Wine Guy went from a totally obsessed wine newbie to the world's first-ever African-American fine and rare wine auctioneer in less than 3 years. 

These days, he is a podcaster and journalist who travels the globe, having conversations with the movers, shakers, and disruptors in the worlds of food, wine, music, and more.

This show pairs his passion for complex, interesting wines with complex, interesting guests. These are deep thinkers and Mavericks talking about their passions, life lessons, and inspirations - while drinking a bottle of something listeners will definitely want to savor for themselves.

One of my favourite!

This is one of my favourite wine related podcasts! MJ’s interview style is really good and he gets his guests to tell their stories from a personal perspective. Sad to see this podcast go! However, there are some episodes I will listen to over again because they were that good! Listening from BERMUDA, great show!

Familiar Faults

Like so many other podcast hosts, Mr. Towler interrupts his quest. I heard Eric Asimov tell his story on Levi Dalton’s I’ll Drink To That podcast but wanted to listen to him on Mr. Towler show but after his several interruptions with bad jokes and meanderings I just couldn’t. Levi Dalton had the same problem in the beginning of his podcast but greatly improved by getting out of the way.

I’ve been following MJ on Instagram for awhile now. I listen to Podcast because a) MJ is cool as hell b) really interesting content c) love hearing different perspectives. I’m new to wine, but I recognized we need more diversity in the wine world. Well done MJ, get it!

The podcast you didn’t know you needed

MJ kills it on his new podcast. After ruling Wine Instagram, he sets his sights on bringing quality interviews to his podcast. The first 3 episodes are killing it. He seems to have a disarming approach that puts his guests at ease and they seem to really share some amazing stories. In one of his discussions, he talks about how if everyone would just sit down and have conversations over a bottle of wine, a lot of the world’s problems would work themselves out. Even if you just sit and listen to the podcast, you will see what he means and that he is absolutely correct.
