The MinnMax crew has evolved so much over the years and it has continued to be my favorite gaming podcast. Ben does a great job of steering the conversation into interesting places and proving industry context for every game and news item. Additionally, the diversity in the voices that they bring on to the show keep it interesting and expand your viewpoint to places that you might not otherwise have considered. As someone who does not have much time to play games but loves to keep up with the latest blockbusters and indie darlings that are released, I cannot recommend this show enough. Give it a listen! I’m a recent listener, but it’s already become one of my favorite podcasts each week. Ben and the rotating cast of regulars do a fantastic job engaging me and communicating with each other in an insightful, playful, and friendly way. I often find myself checking the timestamps for other podcasts and bouncing around to games I’m interested, but rarely, if ever, find myself doing that here. Delightful opening jingle. The only games podcast I listen to on a weekly basis! Ben is a host that knows when to yap and when to zip it. Love that awareness and skill. Guests are varied, credible, and capable of carrying conversation about what matters to games. Regular updates at the top of every show about upcoming programming and contests. Love that! I’ve been listening to the MinnMax show for a few years now and I can tell you for a fact that it’s the friendliest, best group of video game journalists around. It’s like hanging out with your friends who just happened to have worked at a gaming magazine. This is the only piece of media that has ever made me want to move to Minnesota. This seems like the only show that has like-able hosts actually spending most of the time talking about video games and fun stuff rather than trying to promote their other streams etc. Well done

Updated - I don’t want to hear the hosts talking about getting high while playing. Previous review: love this show, and look forward to it releasing each week. Ben does some of the best podcast hosting and facilitating out there. I love the group of cohorts. Janet always has great insights and is able to explain her opinions in a way that connects with the audience. One piece of minor constructive feedback… Ben seems to really pinpoint background noises from other hosts. Typically these are very minor or not even noticeable to the listening audience. It’s okay to call it out to the cohort, but sometimes it’s made into a bigger issue than it really is. The follow up comments about it usually distract more than the initial noise did. I’m sure it’s just a personal annoyance for Ben, but just as a heads up it typically isn’t noticeable when listening. That doesn’t detract from my 5/5 review.

Do wish more of the cohorts were willing to speak their minds openly though. Janet and Sarah always keep it real which I appreciate.

I have been listening to this podcast for about 5 years now. Ben Hanson founded Minnmax after the layoffs in 2019 wt Gameinformer. He was the former host before founding this show and I IMMEDIATELY followed along. Him and fellow Co-hosts Jeff M and Leo Vader are hilarious and I genuinely care about all of their opinions in gaming suggestions and reviews. If you haven’t yet; please follow this podcast if you want to a good laugh and suggestions. Even if you don’t agree with their suggestions you can follow their Patreon and even argue against their opinions. One of the most welcoming communities EVER.
