Fantastic Tour of the Real Estate Business
Matt talks a lot with his guests about digging in and finding opportunities for authenticity. My observation is that Leading Voices has been an ideal platform for Matt to dig in authentically....he is a talented interviewer...which makes sense given his job as a recruiter. There are four real estate pods I subscribe to and all prove really good information... but Leading Voices for me is the most enjoyable. Matt is genuinely curious about the subject matter, and even more so, curious about the person. Thanks for putting this out there.

Great conversations with opportunities for learning
There are very limited real estate industry podcasts, especially focusing on the commercial segments. I was so happy to find this one, as it explores the “local legends” of our business across different product types. I really enjoyed the last episode of Season 1 (Sam Zell) and the Season 2 opener about Camden. Each time I listen, I feel as thought I’m having lunch with a mentor who is trying to help me navigate my career. Well produced podcast with quality sound/audio/editing. Thanks for continuing on this journey even after the ULI sponsorship evaporated. Keep up the good work!

    Great content and interviews
I really appreciate the guests Matt brings on the program. He is a natural interviewer and makes the information accessible to those learning the industry and specific enough for real estate professionals. Thanks for the great work!

    Best CRE Podcast
Matt’s content is organized, professional and informative. He has the beat in class guests on his show. I have enjoyed listening and have learned a lot. I have over 17 years experience in CRE, and there is always something in each podcast that is new info.

    I always learn something
I love listening to this podcast. Matt has a diverse set of guests and the combo of the “how I built this” aspect of their companies with their personal journey is fascinating. While some guests are more interesting to me than others, i always walk away with at least one tidbit of info or a thought I would never have had otherwise. Whether industry veteran or newbie, I think it’s a great listen. Loved the recent long episode with the multiple black speakers. Timely and important!!

What they don’t teach you in school
I’ve been a fan of Matt’s podcast since it’s inception. The breadth of professionals he interviews across the entire spectrum of land use professionals is unrivaled. Further, the scope of questions and the candor of the answers is extremely enlightening and inspiring. These attributes are present even when you listen to someone speak who is totally outside your field of interest. I can’t recommend this podcast series highly enough. Whether you are a student considering a career in the real estate professions, or a seasoned veteran, the insights you will gain from these episodes will be certain to educate and entertain.
  • Amazing Success Story
    Ricardo Pagan - Claridge Properties
To listen to Ricardo’s story will truly leave you in awe of his drive and overall success thus far in Real Estate. Keep an eye out for this gentleman and his company in the future. Another great pick for an interview as always Matt!

    Fantastic!
This Podcast series is really fantastic. As a fifteen-year veteran of the commercial real estate industry, I turn to Matt Slepin's podcast for insights and ways of looking at the world that I would not have found on my own. Matt does a fantastic job of asking intelligent questions and drawing out from his guests the most relevant and interesting points about their careers and personal stories. Anyone in this business should make a point if listening to each episode.

    Incredible!
I don’t have enough characters at my disposal to do this show justice in my review. Matt is a great interviewer and a true professional. Matt selects true titans in our industry and gets really deep in the interviews. Three of my favorites are Sam Zell, Mary Ann Tighe, and Dr. Peter Linneman. Start with the Sam Zell interview though! Indispensable for the true CRE student of the game.

    Real Estate Rockstars!
Matt and his wide variety of knowledgeable guests are truly rockstars! They’re making quality real estate investment knowledge accessible to everyone because they truly believe in the power it has to change lives. The great advice they provide, combined with the relatable way in which they deliver it had me hooked from the very first listen. Thanks for putting out such a stellar show Matt - keep up the great work!

    Motivating
I love this podcast because the stories being told by the leaders in this industry detailing their own careers in their own is both fascinating and motivating. Everyone interviewed so far has had such a different story and I have drawn inspiration from each one in a different way. Also, real estate is so much a part of our lives, that I am finding immediate connections to these firms or the properties described. I am working my way through the catalog now and am listening to Elizabeth Holland, CEO at Abbell Associates talk about a Toledo OH redevelopment (Costco) that actually played a huge role in changing the career trajectory of a family member who got a job at Costco and turned into a long career. Its connections like these that make real estate so amazing, and hearing from the creators and leaders about it, it’s beyond interesting to me. Thank you.

Great podcast in more than one way
What a great podcast. Thank you for doing this, Matt and team! Each time I listen, I feel inspired to do more and better things through my career in real estate. I appreciate how you dive into not just tips and info on the companies that the interviewees lead, but also on how they got into real estate - their personal stories. That in itself can really help young people listening to the podcast to learn how they might go about having a successful and exciting career, which I honestly see as one of the podcasts biggest values. (And there are other!) I hope professors are recommending this podcast to their students. Anyway, great work! Including one or two more on affordable housing development (maybe Ron Moelis in New York), mixed income housing (like the Jonathan Rose interview you did), New Markets Tax Credits project developers, folks working in housing for the homeless or struggling communities, and some city planning and economic development type folks (e.g. Pittsburgh’s Urban Redevelopment Authority or PIDC in Philly or the amazing people at Econsult Solutions in Philly) would be great too. (Not a plug - I just learned about real estate during grad school in Philly so I know those firms more than others.) Thanks again!

    Getting Exposure to the Industry
I work in the commercial real estate industry and this podcast serves two purposes for me - 1) gives me exposure to leaders in the industry 2) provides insights into various real estate career paths. I encourage all my coworkers (and those interested in learning about how people developed their careers in real estate) to subscribe to this podcast and I’m looking forward to future episodes.

Awesome listening for anyone in the business for 1 to 50 years.
Realizing how hard it is to do interviews of people who've live really fruitful lives of passion and perserverance,... it's great to see how Slepin researches his guests and works hard to get at the essence of what caused the career to emerge along an often jagged path to reveal what's become. HIghly recommend for those just getting into the business, or those who've been in it for a while.

    Keep up the Good Work!
I recently discovered your “Leading Voices” podcast. I wanted to reach out and tell you how much I have enjoyed each one I have downloaded. I have been fortunate to meet so many creative, disciplined, and successful people throughout my real estate career, but seldom do you get the opportunity to really delve into how or why these people come into careers in Real Estate. This in particular is why I have found the 5 or 6 episodes I have listened to thus far so enlightening. Keep up the good work and I will keep downloading!

    New Host Needed
The guests are fantastic and have a great amount of knowledge to share the host does not. I can’t count the amount of times the host recaps the guest’s answer and the guest is like no , that’s not what I meant. It can very awkward and I question if the host has any real estate experience. I think podcast should explore having a new host who has greater real estate insight.
  • So bad it's hard to believe
    Well worth the Time
An incredibly interesting series of interviews that shares many insights and lessons learned from a cross sectional group of Real Estate leaders. Thanks ULI and Matt Slepin.
