Hooviemoto87Absolutely top notch facts if you disregard their extreme leftist global warming catastrophe beliefsI love listening to this podcast. Thank you for the great work! The factual information is excellent. The only issue I have is that on some episodes their extreme view of global warming and leftism is sometimes pushed as fact. I just disregard it because they usually direct it back to real factual information. I have a biblical world view and the information in this podcast aligns with being as good of stewards of our resources as we are capable of doing. But, the idea that catastrophe is on it’s way if we don’t change carbon emissions immediately isn’t factual, but a belief - an educated guess that has become a religion in itself. However, if we can swing the whole world - especially countries destroying our earth and lives into being good stewards instead of desiring power and money, everyone will greatly benefit! I do enjoy hearing what I don’t know and learning so many guests perspectives on this podcast!

Lew in ChicagoDeserves examinationListening to most recent episode on electrification...opening statements are mistaken. Historically, we have never moved away from energy sources when a 'new' one arrives. We use the same amount or more of the old sources while new sources are exploited. This information is findable, not a secret. Wind and solar are not making a dent in our electric current power use. Again, this is well documented. Further demands for 'green' electric exacerbates the divide. Wind and solar require huge tracks of valuable (farm) land, are ugly, are maintenance intensive, hardware is short lived and turbines are not recyclable and kill or damage wild life on a large scale. Climate change by humans, if it occurs, is so difficult to measure, that the effect is next to nill, if at all. We would do well, as a species, with some warming. We will and have suffered in periods of cooling. Do your own research, Kristof. I won't listen to 'the message' repeated from a political agenda. You know better. The green agenda is a political lie.

Friendly familyAmazing information, Terrible audio qualityI highly recommend this podcast based on the information shared and the exceptional level of knowledge of the host and guests. I have learned so much about building science, indoor air quality, and providing comfort to building occupants. It has totally reshaped the way I see and approach construction! However, I have an extremely difficult time hearing this podcast. The audio has a consistent echo like it was recorded in an empty unfinished room. The sound reflections muddle the audio causing me to focus on trying to understand the words instead of focusing on the topic being discussed. Additionally, the sound level on the podcast is lower than my other podcasts. I often find myself having to significantly turn up the volume. I do 95% of my podcast listening on the road. This podcast is the inconvenient 5% because I loose to much when road noise is added into the mix. My only other comment is that the host can sometimes lean into global warming a little hard. If you do not have the save views as he does, hang in there. This podcast will give you spectacular insights on improving peoples lives through design and construction. The same techniques can be used to reach different end goals.

TAFFYHITCould be more impactfulLove the info, but also a bit terrifying and not so helpful. If your focus is to help people, families, communities, the world,… then you need to be more helpful with retrofit solutions. Most people cannot afford to start from scratch, especially in Austin. Even those who can leave behind homes that are or will be lived in. I’ve listened to a lot of the shows (not all yet) and I am very motivated (thank you for that), but where’s the help in air sealing a 70’s home? And what about ventilation after that? I would rather invest in radiant cooling and heating than replace the forced air units, but how to choose how to do it and not spend a fortune? You can’t really make an impact on the global energy consumption from homes unless you help people people find practical ways to retrofit. Please help

Sustainability EnthusiastInformational and AccessableKristof does a great job of hovering between too technical and too simplistic. The technical data convinced me of the relevance and the more practical speak and breaking down concepts makes the information accessible for people like me who aren’t experts in the subject matter.
-
EnergyVanguardPenetratingKristof has a way of making me see things in new ways. He has the best metaphors and analogies to explain building science and is one of the best at penetrating through all the details to find those kernels of truth that help listeners make sense of it all.
-
10sionTrackerIntellectual to a FaultYou just can’t help yourself, talking down to us Texas morons who appreciate the concept of self-reliance. No, Kristoff, we don’t need a nanny state to take care of us. We need real education. Your political immaturity seems to drool out the corners of your mouth when you go there. Is this podcast about Building Science or Building Politics? That said, you are brilliant when it comes to your line of work and I know you care about what you do. Stay in your lane, please. You’re driving away the people you need to reach.

pro-marketGreat information, unlistenable presentationThis podcast covers valuable information for people who want to build a better home. Unfortunately the audio quality is unlistenable unless you have an ASMR fetish. If you enjoy listening to the sounds like lip smacking, drinking, opening of drinks, opening and closing of doors, etc. along with terrible sound effects as transitions, this is the podcast for you. I hope the audio quality improves because the information is great.
-
BmcerlaiVery informativeI am not a building building, but listening to this podcast makes me want to be. Well done!
-
matt-lhcAudio QualityI have learned a great deal about indoor air quality. Kristoff, his team and guests are very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. Please make the audio quality better, though. There are a few episodes that I have had to stop listening too because the audio quality was just so terrible. Specifically ‘death of the suburbs.’ I tried twice to get through it but could not. Other times I can hear dogs in background or water coolers being used. It takes away from the message that is trying to projected. Just like our lungs need good air quality, my ears would like the same level of audio quality. I believe there are great messages in this podcast and would encourage ‘building science team’ to ensure better podcast audio quality. Thanks for your time.
-
SculpytoonsGreat ShowThis will give you an appreciation for indoor air quality, among other things, in a scientific kind of way. Beware: if you do not currently have fresh air ventilation (e.g. HRV/ERV) in your home this podcast will ensure that you wish you did.

newdad1988Excellent content! This podcast is so informative. I’ve been interested in building science since helping design and build my parents home in high school. How I wish this resource was around then. It has helped me get a well rounded understanding to all of the aspects of creating a healthy, comfortable, and durable home. I really like that the content is science based with real world examples from people actually working in the industry and not a bunch of greenwash propaganda. I plan to incorporate a lot of what I have learned here when our family builds our “forever home” in the near future. Thanks for taking the time to create this excellent podcast!
-
pragmaticengineerGreat resource!I’m a binge listener of this podcast. Kristof dies a great job eliciting gems of knowledge from his interviewees. I’m aligned with his perspective in building systems.
-
O.G. Cactus HunterThis Podcast is Awesome! The Building Science Podcast represents a perfect combination of rigorous scientific analysis and real-world, applied know-how. Building Science GeekThis Show Changed My Life!I absolutely love this show. The topics are thoughtful and the breadth of where they're trying to push building sicence is so needed. I've heard people talk enclosures enclosures enclosures my entire career, but there's so much more to cover! Buildings are really potent areas of societal change and Positive Energy seems to have widened the lens enough to really branch out into some interesting territory. I can't wait to hear the next one!
-

BptmnujmGreat resource for remodelers, or people who want to quiz their buildersAs a remodeler, I'm looking to stay ahead of my competition and identify ways to differentiate. This podcast provides a great launching point. New products, new techniques are fully discussed in terms of pros and cons and applicability. And it's so realistic in how construction has so few silver bullets that always work in every situation. Keep up the good work guys. I'd love to hear more discussion about how decisions would vary by climate zone.
-
Yames1Ockham’s Razor RulesGreat from start to finish - no fluff and leading edge building technology. Seriously haven’t seen material this concise and informative in a podcast. Material presentation keeps constant mental protein flowing.

Macht ArchitectureBest Podcast Hands DownThis podcast looks at buildings at such a deep level, yet still pulls you away to take a broad view of our built world. When architects, builders, and engineers talk about building science, typically water management and energy is the main focus, The Building Science Podcast takes it so much further, looking at health, comfort, durability, our planet, etc. This podcast is very intellectual and makes you think differently about how we approach buildings. Keep up the great work Positive Energy!!
-
Nora UresteBuilding for humans!Great podcast! Each episode is an opportunity to learn about how complex this organism we call a building/home really is. Always through the lens of health and comfort - so refreshing!
-

Kiki BowserFascinating and informativeI am not an architect or anyone who works in the field. I am looking at purchasing a home, though, and am interested in being a smart buyer as far as energy efficiency, but I have no experience. This podcast has really helped to show how important the mechanics of your home are for your comfort. I would love to see an episode maybe tailored specifically to things home buyers should consider when looking at a home to purchase as far as efficiency goes, as well as easy updates that would help increase efficiency. Great podcast. Love listening!
-
MisterFarmerSo good! Keep em coming! These podcasts have become a go to for passionate, thoughtful and totally geeky building science inspiration and information. The interviews are great, and Kristof's occasional monologues are even better.

-
Schuess835Solid Gold here!!!I highly recommended this podcast for anyone who desires to have a deeper understanding of the science and data behind high performance buildings and human comfort. I am a homeowner, avid DIYer, who incorporates modern technology and processes in home renovations. The host of this podcast spends just as much time covering the "why" of and idea as he does the details of the process. All episodes are gold!
-
tech1200Building Inspectors think I'm a geniusI listen to these podcasts, and regularly join Positive Energy for monthly think tanks. The codes are the rules...we get that, but science is undeniable. When you compare the results you want, with the code-regulated remedies...there always is a 'miss', it's not quite there. Educate yourself about how to get your desired results by listening to TBSP, and trade ideas with your building inspector...Boom!
-
SprunginatorVery clear and informativeThanks to great people who make podcasts like this information is now highly accessible to aspirants that strive to live in quality and functional spaces. This podcast is also very insightful to the person looking to gain some scientific inquiry related to building science and the natural world. Thank you! -jimmy bobbi

Lillie22My Building Science HerosWe are super fourtanate to have such a progressive team of Austin,TX based building scientists freely sharing intilligent building science info to the entire world. As a high-end custom builder, I can tell you first hand that we are constantly encountaring uber-clean modern architecture with vaulted ceilings, minimul (or no) roof lines, and tons of glazing. These amazing chaps will help you figure out how to make it all come together in the name of comfort and piece of mind. I've worked with them on multiple projects in real life, and I continue to get such a kick out of being able to hear them on a pod cast. One of my favorite episodes was when Kristof drove to he coast in his van (on his way kite surfing) and talked about HVAC the entire way. Such a treat getting inside his head! Anyhow, please do listen, enjoy, and apply!
-
_eastaustintxresident_2016Excellent!An excellent collection of talks that are both informative and powerfully invoking, as they touch on subjects relevant to all people. By linking specific issues in energy efficiency and building science to long-term and futuristic solutions, the hosts and guests convey a need for higher standards in creating custom comfort. These are conversations that every professional and homeowner should be listening in on.
-
IT GeekboyGood stuffThe discussion on phase change materials was fascinating. As someone in the software world where climate control is essential in our server rooms, I see many applications in the tech world. Keep up the good work guys and thanks for dumbing the science down for us IT guys.
-

Erberks12345Great findImpressive presentation of complicated topics. Clear, concise, and interesting. It's a hard thing to do, but it's done well here.
-
LouieLV426Fantastic podcastReally love this podcast. What they were saying about sustainability and efficiency really clicked with me. It's one of those podcasts where I found myself pausing what I was working on to listen closely. haha. Great work , hope it keeps going!
-
BlackerbeastInsightful on a new levelArchitects are often in the business of thinking critically about space and function, but limited by project budgets or lack of resources. Getting the mechanicals right is such a huge deal! This podcast has done a great job of highlighting the relationships between how the building works and how it’s delivered. It’s been helpful for my office and all our new hires are now required to listen to it during training.
-
Listro_pie47ExcellentThis podcast is absolutely essential for any builder or architect who wants to move buildings into the modern era and build the best, healthiest, and most efficient environments for their occupants. We need to be thinking about the physics of buildings if we want to take health seriously! This podcast does a great job of breaking down some complex issues to accomplish the best buildings possible.
-
ScottmichaeldavisBLINDED ME WITH SCIENCEScientific thought is crucial for good architecture. This podcast really hashes out the good stuff!

AHappyLassThe Future of BuildingsThis podcast is incredible. The hosts are SO well informed about building sustainability, efficiency, durability, and human comfort. They are at the forefront of building technology but also have a love of conservation and keeping things simple. This is a fantastic listen for building designers, architects, contractors, subcontractors, homeowners, everyone! This podcast has helped me push my design business to the next level. And man that Kristof is a smart dude!

TuckmunThe Missing Puzzle PieceArchitects like myself have historically given building science and mechanical systems not much more than an afterthought. In my professional growth, I’ve been paying much more attention to the elements of design that arguably have as much impact on the health and comfort of a building’s occupants than any other design consideration, but yet are mostly unseen. This podcast is an excellent source of information that will not only help designers provide the best for their clients, but it is also a critical source for non-professional people who may be looking to buy or have built a home of their own. Knowledge gleaned from these podcasts will help clients demand more of their architects and builders. This is the podcast I’ve been looking for.
