I enjoy learning about all the inhabitants of Ben’s world- natives, enslaved, colonists - and their social, economic, and political interactions. It’s good to listen to historians present their research, and the voices of those neglected from the typical perspective.

I enjoyed this episode: Elizabeth asked good questions and Lindsay did a nice job replying. I would argue that Hamilton wasn’t a true New Yorker - he was (basically) from the Virgin Islands and was in the US for roughly 15 years when he took office as Treasury Secretary. He simply had an IQ of 750 and it’s unfortunate the direction he went in once he left office. But he DEFINITELY is responsible for our economy today! Nevertheless - a monument should be erected in DC for the first Adams administration; he was a good man.

I was seeking a pod cast with historical content and found you. Such a vast array of topics that are enlightening and verifiable. Please continue to share these insights.

Started out as a great diverse look at American history at the time of BF. In the last year it has become predominantly a show on black history in America.

Just dipped into this podcast here. I would love to hear a source cited. This episode is akin to the narrative of the genius white man saving the crude savages. It’s just going as silly in the other direction. A few facts are thrown in. Bummer. I am a bit of a history nut and was hoping for a good informative new pod to binge!! Pretty irresponsible story telling.

This show does exactly what it promises - puts you in the rough timeframe that Ben Franklin would have lived in, and tells you what life is really like. It accomplishes it through discussions with authors with detailed knowledge of a very specific topic. Loved the History of Maine, Race in New Orleans, Hessians, and Texas in Spanish Empire. Liz asks soid questions and keeps the show moving well.

Each succeeding episode seems like the best one I’ve listened to yet. I only “discovered” BFW some 43 podcasts ago but your format is eminently “binge-able.” Super guest list. I want to matriculate with a major in American History all over again.

This show has gone off on a weird tangent, far from where it started. Not really a history podcast anymore. More of a social commentary, mostly of race, ethnicity and gender. I listen to old episodes, but anything from the last year or so is uninteresting and unlistenable.

The topics are interesting. But when I hear the episode, a lot of unnecessary words and meaningless questions during interview. It makes the audience feel impatient. Much of the content can be cutdown to make it more appealing.

Listened first few episodes. All she does is talk about irrelevant opinions not stories of history. Hard to imagine I don’t like a history podcast.

Enlightening, Interesting and important… I’m not sure if there is another resource on early American history that is this well researched and accessible.

I have a special place in my heart for this podcast. It was the first history podcast I discovered and loved. The passion the host has is evident.

The prisoner of war story interested me greatly, however I got very little out of the podcast due to terrible audio from the guest/expert. I was in my car and the hum and so on from the road coupled with garbled quality of the guests words (not to mention his accent), made it so I could hardly make out the content, prompting me to finally just give up. There are other podcasts which similarly don’t take their listeners into proper consideration. There should be a minimum standard to be met with regard to the guests ability to provide adequate audio quality. By the way, I recently had my hearing checked and the results were normal.

If you are interested in well researched history, this is a podcast for you. I love that many of the episodes cover interesting topics that were not on my radar.

#340 guest audio quality is so bad I just gave up trying to listen. If you’re asking for $60 a year for “extras “ some attention should be made to listen-ability .

The real Ben Franklin would vomit if he heard five minutes of this show. Just a bunch of liberal guests with the liberal hostess show after show. Exciting.

I really love this podcast. It's very informative Liz Covart has no fear of detailed information, a valuable quality in a historian. I find this podcast informative and a very pleasant to boot.

There are so many episodes; so much content. I was excited when I ran across this show. I’ve tried a handful of times now to listen to randomly chosen episodes. Without fail my eyes have glazed over in boredom within ten minutes. I quickly lose interest. The dry, textbook delivery is killing me. The ability to take the past and squeeze every last bit of drama out of it is almost impressive. Needs some decent writing and narrative flair to go sling with the deep knowledge.

Started out as a good history show. Interesting interviews with actual historians. Enter the Omohundro Institute. Got quite glitzy and more concerned with production than content. If it really now takes you an hour of labor to produce one minute of content for an interview show, you are: a) doing something really wrong, or b) paying a bunch of people to do absolutely nothing Go back to your roots. If I want to listen to fancy fluff, I’ll go right to NPR. Sorry to see the decline in content quality.

The Juneteenth episode was so informative. Every time she comes, she delivers knowledge.

I keep coming back to this show “because” of your delivery of the excellent content. So unique, not the “podcast host” voice you hear on so many other shows. The enthusiasm for the subject matter and the enthusiasm for sharing the subject matter shine through. My favorite episodes were about Elizabeth Ann Seton, and the one about the diary of the everyday colonial woman. And the ones about colonial era medicine. Where I live, we grow up with Texas history the way you grew up learning about New England. You tell the stories from your unique perspective. Keep up the great work!

I am a history teacher & so I am always looking for new resources for teaching history. This is a great podcast that has great guests & really is mindful of getting into the details. There are a lot of negative comments/ reviews about this podcast & the voice of the host or that it’s got a “liberal agenda”. That’s really sad. The host is great, the content is honest. There are literally hundreds of episodes of great historical content. It would have been tone deaf and dishonest for this podcast to not present the real facts of this country’s history.

One of my favorite podcasts in any genre until i hear "Gender, Race, & the First Vaccine" in a little squeaky voice and now i must delete you from my library. History is simply facts that already happened. Keep the identity politics out of it. Can't you see it ruins everything.

I would give five stars to content and guests who nearly always deliver, but only two to Liz Covart. One would think the countless comments on her awkward delivery would prompt her (or her producers) to retool, but year after year her excellent show is hampered by her robotic presentation peppered with insanely unnatural pauses. It especially makes no sense since the entire thing is scripted. I wish I could just listen to the historians lecture for an hour.

This show was always boring but did have some good episodes. But since the death of George Floyd every episode became unlistenable liberal garbage. Also the fake talk in the interviews is weird. Why not have real conversations.

I tuned in to learn some good, and some bad, early American history I was greeted with a few dozen professors of history giving their liberal talking points on episode 300 of how racist America is Thanks for that No wonder college students are as unproductive and self hating as they are

If you want to listen to real history don’t waste your time with this podcast. It is clearly left wing propaganda that unapologetically presents history through the lens of critical race theory. I am perplexed by it’s 4.5 star rating.

I loved your podcast. Until the political diatribe in your most recent. The misrepresentation of Frederick Douglas and other great American leaders with a woke comparison cheapens the great efforts of your forum.

My family and I enjoy this podcast very much! Interesting Early American history is presented with great enthusiasm and does not sound stuffy or dull. There is a good variety of subjects so there is an episode for everyone! Keep up the great work

Informative however nearly all shows consist of topics on slavery and less of what I was hoping for. The title Ben Franklins World is inappropriate for the topics covered.

I decided I could not listen to the narrator any longer. If she could take it down a notch.

Liz Covart provides very informative and well produced podcasts that are sure to be a favorite for any history buffs! Her interview style makes you relax and feel right at home while listening and brings out the best in her knowledgeable and entertaining guests. 5 stars from me!

There are podcasts and then there’s BFW. LC has created a model that every historical podcaster should pay close attention too. It’s a who’s who of movers and shakers in the field combined with Liz’s stellar format. Plus she doesn’t drop the ball with wonky production values. A+ content. Pay attn kiddos for this is how it’s done. There are no shortcuts to actually reading books.

I’d enjoy it more if Dr Covart spoke slower, enunciated her words and stop swallowing final syllables .
