    Happy I found Melissa!
Great podcast that is a wealth of information. Melissa is relatable, energizing and makes learning digestible. I love that she includes her faith without making the whole podcast about it. Also, the variety of topics and guests always have me excited to listen. Would recommend to beginner and seasoned homesteaders alike!

    Keep an open mind
Melissa your pod cast is full of information, fun stories and interviews. You try to keep you heart open with you listeners and share your journey with others and that I am grateful for. I have never been a religious person but I do see my self as a spiritual person. Even though I don’t practice in Christianity I appreciate your versus of the week. I wish others who listened that have not cared for that part give those words a a listen and take those good words into being a good person and not take you down. Keep up the amazing job.

    Audio
I like the content of this podcast that Jill puts out, but I would become a much more regular listener if she used better equipment for recording audio. Something to consider! I also appreciate her using her platform to read God’s word and share the Gospel.

Great fun and learn a lot
I enjoy Melissa and the topics she discusses. Encourged me to start cooking more from scratch and getting to my local community. I can homestead where I am. I am enjoying learning about gardening and preservation. I am still wokeing on it. But every step counts. Thank you! Your excitement to teach comes through and even my husband loves to listen with me. Look forward to every episode.

    Mostly Good Info
Looking for a good farmsteading/homesteading podcast without Christian proselytizing. The main content is good. I just fast forward or stop listening when she gets to evangelizing

    My New Favorite Podcast
I’ve been listening to Melissa’s podcast every day for about a week now! I am not new to the rural lifestyle, but I am new to homesteading. I’ve got so much I want to learn about becoming self sufficient and this podcast has already helped me. Melissa has great topics that she talks about and also teaches things in a way that is easy to understand! I’ve already ordered one of her books. For years, something has always told me that I need to learn these skills and way of life. Finding this podcast has made me really excited to finally dive in! Thank you, Melissa!

    Wonderful podcast!
I bought several of Melissa’s books, which is what led me to her podcast! I have become OBSESSED with this podcast and it has made me so excited about my own homesteading journey. She has so much helpful advice and lots of things I’ve never thought about or she (and her guests) says it in a way I understand. I cannot express enough how much this podcast has blessed me! 😊

Good information but she lost me with the evangelical crap.

    A wealth of information
Today I wanted to learn about no till gardening, so I googled “no till gardening Pioneering Today” and sure enough, there’s an episode for that- 232! I’m on a Melissa kick and loving every episode I’ve listened to so far!

    Pioneering Today
Absolutely horrible podcast. I don’t think that Melissa understands that many people, who might otherwise be interested in her information, do not practice her type of religion and are not interested in having it shoved down our throats. Also, Melissa’s poor grammar is like nails on a chalkboard. She does not know when to use “gone” and when to use “went”.

Episode on seed starting has been incredibly informative.

I love your podcast so much! I’ve learned so much!! You always have such good information. These atheist liberal freaks can go listen to another podcasts that aligns with their values if they can’t handle ones with religious beliefs. Your amazing and keep up th good work.

    Great podcasts!
I’ve been listening to lots of podcasts/podcasters while preparing to launch my own organic gardening podcast in January 2023. your Podcasts rank in my top two for so many reasons – great job! Thanks!
  • merah24
    Love these!
I absolutely LOVE that Melissa and her family really get and understand that there is a creator who created all things! Homesteading is His gift in showing and teaching so much more than just raising food and eating clean!! Finally we have venues that Christ centered believer can go to and learn and be entertained as well, since the media has lost all credibility. Thank you Homesteaders, God Bless you abundantly!!
  • tlmilstead
    Unnecessary Injection of Religion
Very much wish it was noted in the show discription that these episodes include Christian bible verses and sermons. I’m interested in homesteading not religion and in my opinion, it’s not necessary here.

Really enjoying your resources! Found you in a Facebook ad, started dabbling on your website, then found this podcast, and am saving up for your Pioneering Academy. My go to podcast for all things homesteading
Melissa has such an incredible way of delivering valuable info in an accessable way. She is easy to listen to, has a positive perspective on preparedness, and is just overall a great resource. Definitely my fav!

Shoves religious belief down your thoat
Good gardening content but super cringy religious propaganda interwoven throughout episodes. Unfortunately can’t support someone who has beliefs that align with feeding the patriarchy and removing womens rights. So sad.

    A wealth of knowledge!
I just started listening to this podcast about 3 days ago and I’ve already listened to 13 episodes! Melissa is a wealth of knowledge and I'm so excited to keep listening and learning. Just ordered a fermenting kit and I'm looking into ordering row covers to extend my gardening season. Keep doing what you’re doing Melissa! Thanks for sharing and taking time out of your day to teach us!

    Talented podcaster
Been a long time listener and have been homesteading for a good while now too. I listen to A LOT of podcasts. Her earlier episodes, while great content, were poor sound quality especially noticeable when goin back to listen now. However she must have invested in some sound equipment because it now (and has for a while) sounds great. She has a great speaking voice with no distracting mouth sounds. She lines out steps and information in an orderly fashion. This is a podcaster who you can tell is also a podcast consumer, knowing how to properly title and summarize her podcasts and present information. I do many things Melissa does but some to a lesser degree and she is informative for beginner and experienced homesteader alike. While I enjoy her books and website I have never signed up for her courses but I am never offended when a podcaster markets their content. It makes sense and we are given for FREE, a wealth of knowledge and resources. So for those reviewers complaining about her selling her courses on her own podcast, grow up. Also Melissa, thank you for sharing your perspective as a follower of Christ in your homesteading/life’s journey. I find it grounding, helpful and wholesome.

    Uplifting and Educational
I am currently listening to the podcast nearly everyday. I discovered Pioneering Today towards the end of last year and fell in love with Melissa! She has given me encouragement in so many ways. I am not a homesteader but dream of living that life in some aspect one day. I’ve always loved things of old! I’ve been making my own bread, am in the process of ditching the chemicals in my home, growing my own garden and raising my chickens. I’m just so thankful to have found such an incredible source of information. To top it all off, I LOVE the “Verse of the Week”❤️ It means so much to me and really hits me a lot of times! Thank you for what you’re doing!

    Preparing for the future
I have also been getting a strong message that I need to learn how to grow and preserve food for my family. I know we will be depending on this knowledge. I was amazed after hearing your podcast that others have been given this council also! I think it is guidance from the Holy Spirit because of something happening in the future we will need to be prepared for. Looking forward to your magazine 😊 Thank you for all you do! Your sister in Christ, Debbie Huckins

Love the content, stop saying fascinating!!
I love this podcast and the content Melissa covers, I only have one nitpicking comment and it’s to find some synonyms for “fascinating” because it’s distracting
  • xx-nickname
    Wanted to love
The host uses every episode as an opportunity to manipulate the listener into buying her memberships and paid courses. I find her to be tacky and slightly condescending in her delivery.
  • Rachel ABC
Great podcast for everyone who wants or is homesteading!
Melissa does a spectacular job highlighting all aspects of homesteading. She shares her wealth of knowledge readily and interviews many experts in their field as well as all levels of homesteaders. From beginner to seasoned she does a beautiful job sharing so many incredible individuals with her audience.
  • Tinnaj009
Tired of having to research her “facts”
The podcast is interesting and I enjoy her verse of the week. However, she often conflates science with pseudoscience. I find myself needing to research her “scientifically backed” information to see if it’s actually rooted in real science or just old-timey folks wisdom. I’m all in to hear about both, but I wish she were much more clear about what has been legitimately researched and what’s not. I suspect it’s not her intention to obfuscate, she just doesn’t actually know the difference.

    Love it!
Like many of us in 2022, I am reinvigorating my interest in gardening and self-sufficiency, and good old-fashioned “know-how”. Melissa is really enjoyable to listen to, and I learn a lot. I particularly loved her Dad being part of some episodes and sharing his memories of growing up in the Depression. I was not raised a Christian, but absolutely embrace the wisdom of Biblical and Judeo-Christian values (now more than ever), so I really enjoy the verse of the week. Thank you, Melissa!

    Lovely Podcast
Thank you for the kindness and compassion you have towards all of your neighbors. Thank you for the nod to Ruth this week. It gives me comfort thinking about the world my children have been born into. We have all been created for a time such as this.
