I love his teachings and I’m a Christian. I just ignore the parts where he talks negatively about us but I get so many insights from this great teacher!

    Just plain good for you!
There is so much depth of information here. I’ve been listening to him for years now. The Rabbi is so genuine, a great speaker! Just as good as going to the synagogue.

    This rabbi
This rabbi is one reason why I left orthodoxy. All he does is put people down and anything that’s not his idea of Torah. The very things he talks about in not “putting people down” is the exact thing he is doing: putting people that aren’t like him down. Find a better shiur by someone who actually understands the world

On the journey to Hochma? Listen.
Rabbi Bassous has an encyclopedic knowledge of the Talmud and Mishnah, and a fair measure of chesed to boot. Listening, as a member of a welcoming, lovely Reform shul, I have found there is so much that is absolutely compatible with what I’m learning from our rabbi— and a huge breadth of life experience and willingness to teach that he has in areas most US rabbis don’t touch in public ( marriage advice, Kabbalah, Christianity and Islam). He also has a great twist on mussar. Yes, there are some things he says that should be taken with a grain of salt — and just a few that are offensive (credit for an earthquake in eretz yisrael was given to egalitarian wall prayer efforts)— but he is trying hard to not engage in lashon hará, and to make his Orthodox Sephardic training accessible to all.

    Mostly good
A decent look at Jewish traditions and thought. Recommended as it goes into much greater depth than many other podcasts, so if you are looking for information beyond the surface level, it's a good place to start. Main caveats are in the sciences -- there's a three-part series on evolution where he is clearly out of his depth, as he repeats decades-old canards that have been disproven a thousand times. These could have been prevented with a simple google search; unfortunately he apparently didn't see the need to do this.

    True Blessing
After taking a new position I have a longer drive in the car. My go to Podcast has been Tanya by Rabbi Friedman for many years, and still love it. But I had extra minutes in the car so I searched on iTunes. Never did I think I would find such illuminating and inspiring classes on a podcast. This is a treasure and I can't Thank Rabbi David Bassous enough.

    Very informational
I am using this podcast to learn more about Judaism, and Jewish culture. I myself am not Jewish, and do not have much background knowledge however for the most part I find the lectures to be relatable and understandable

    Thank you
I have been listening to Rabbi Bassous' lectures and I have learned more about Judaism in the last 6 months than I had since I left Sunday school as a teenager. Rabbi Bassous never speaks of himself; always of others. He demonstrates his genuineness and caring for his students (adult and children) in every episode. He tells great stories with so much energy that I laugh often. He makes me want to be a better person. Thank you!
