This is one of the best VGM podcasts out there. No substitutes. Brent and Rob are hilarious and Gabe is an insightful wealth of knowledge. The mixtapes are also great for random activities and I’ve used them more than a few times on runs or working out. You can’t go wrong, ding dong. Listen to LMH!

A wealth of an audio catalog of mixtapes and highly informed and entertaining discussion. I’m a new listener. The deeper I dive into the years of old eps, the more I appreciate these cool people for their efforts. As a retro gamer and musician, this is priceless!

These guys combine deep retrogaming experience with the most easygoing and unforced chemistry you can imagine. The tunes themselves are well chosen and are often hypnotic and poetic in equal measure. But I listen for the comedy content. Recommend the episode "Creed II" if you're looking for a good jumping on point.

For years I’ve been a massive fan of Brent and Rob’s work. They dive deep to unearth gems from genres and games I wouldn’t know about otherwise. Their dry humor and banter is charming and endearing and their sincere love of 8bit and 16bit games is undeniable. I thought I knew a lot about games and music but the duo continues to help me discover new and inspiring experiences. These guys are the best in the scene, and accessible to anybody who is chasing that unique sound of the 80s and 90s.

Grew up gaming in the 80s and 90s. I totally can appreciate all their video game talk. From consoles to musical tracks and composers. This is my ballpark. Here’s the crazy part...I was also a cult poundhouse follower. Loved that show. Huge fan all around.

I listen to pretty much every video game music podcast, and LMH is by far my favorite! Brent and Rob have been going strong for TEN years (they did take a one year hiatus). First off, they're both hilarious and know how to keep the show interesting. Second, no other podcast is doing what they're doing- tracking down amazing 8-bit and 16-bit music from the 80s and 90s. You're not going to hear the Mario and Zelda songs you already know- these guys do insane amounts of research to find hidden gems from the video game world. No joke, my music collection is now filled with hundreds of tracks they introduced me to. If you're into game music, this podcast should be your starting point!

There's so much wonderful music that was put into these bygone games and they're shining a light on it and keeping it alive. The whole thing is very cozy and calming.

I have discovered so many great tracks through this podcast. They sometimes strip back the song and isolate certain voices. It gives an in depth look and added appreciation for the music and the composers. Love how it’s skewed to 8 and 16 bit music as well. Rob and Brent are funny guys. Check it out.

Much has been said about the importance of LMH in the VGM podcast subgenre. It's still not enough. The fact that Brent and Rob are still going strong almost a decade later is a testament to their popularity. It is well earned. Special shout out to Emily "KeyGlyph" from the VGM Jukebox and Sound Test Roulette for her excellent mix tapes!

I wish they’d only play mix tapes. Great selections. However, their conversations are boring, awkward, and contribute very little to the topics.

No idea the thought process behind this show but it’s danketty dank.

The show oozes with inspiration, and strives to preserves the idea of video games as more than just pixels and chips. There is a lot to listen to but this is a great library of curated tunes. Brent and Rob know their stuff, Keyglyph makes awesome mixes, and Gabe and Trevor help make it sound good. 10 out of 5

I drive as a pizza delevery driver and every time I go out on an order I listen to this show. The one I keep returning to is the LMH Sonic the Hedgehog Mix. Otherwise, I am looking forward to the future!

The best type of music (VGM) and the best of the golden era of such. The strict criteria, witty humor, and fervent dedication of the hosts produces an addictive listening experience. For those who prefer to hear solely music with no commentary, also included are music-only mixtapes crafted by none other than VGM Jukebox's Key Glyph (co-host of the spin-off podcast of LMH).

Really good show for older video game music. The hosts are also great even though it sounds like they are stoned. Good chemistry and great tunes. They even have people send in strange songs where the listener sings the melody to a video game song but changes the words and talks about break ups.

The hosts have absolutely no energy, and they don't even have a lot of chemistry, or even insight. (After listening to a song from the Master System: "this sounds so much like Master System music".) There are awkward silences throughout every episode. In one of the episodes I listened to, one of the hosts actually fell asleep, and I don't blame him. Unrelated to the actual podcast, but still a weird comment: they're never smiling in their album art pictures, just staring dead into the camera half the time. It's really unsettling.

I thought I knew game music, but Brent and Rob are the real deal. They've introduced me to tons of great soundtracks I'd never heard before, and their banter is charming and hilarious. Keep it up, guys!

The hosts Brent and Rob are obviously very passionate and knowledgeable about the content of the podcast.

8-bit, 16-bit music your thing? Then get in here. Plenty of music each show as well as lots of talking. The hosts have a very specific inoffensive style of humor that is very subdued. Really nothing like it. At the same time I wouldn't mind if they spoke a little less, but I enjoy their enthusiasm for the tunes, especially when they replay a track and go into why they happen to love it. I just have to say the segment where Brent and his brothers were trying to figure out a time signature of one song on some episode I no longer remember was absolutely hilarious. It's times like those when the extra long discussions are a payoff.

I love this podcast so much I heard about it when watching a new grump video. Also Russian alphabet is the funniest thing in the world

I can't believe i have never left a review for one of my all time favorite podcasts. Brent, & Rob are some really cool guys , that love VGM, if you love VGM, then welcome home. The Legacy Music Hour is my to go, when I am bummed, or walking the dog , in the kitchen. This plucky pair has great chemistry, & banter. I find more hidden gems, & jams here. If there was only one complaint i could give, is I want more episodes. You guys keep up the legacy!

Can't believe how much I love this show. This is my gaming era and these songs in branded in my brain for life. Great to here such fun talk about this super niche of gaming and music.

The legacy music hour is the best! I didn't know/care very much about video game music before I listened, but this podcast has changed my perspective on it. It made me realize how intricate and melodic the songs are and now I can't get enough of it. Brent and Rob are fantastic hosts and you can really tell how much they care about the podcast. The mixtapes are great too. 5 out of 5 stars!

Rob and Brent definitely know the 8 & 16-bit eras. You will hear some great tracks from games you’ve never heard of, along with a nice variety of familiar tunes. At first I thought Rob and Brent didn’t have a good chemistry as hosts, but as the show goes on and you really get to know them, they’re distinct personalities and taste of music compliment each other very nicely. Just watched the 1990 episode, it had me in tears laughing! Keep up the good work! Also, change the low-res thumbnail in iTunes! Something like the River City Ransom one on your blog :P

Great show!

Very laid back, and very good choices of songs. The chances of having had the opportunity to be familiar with the variety of sources the boys choose from is slim. You'll find new music you like, and hear weird stuff you never would have heard without them. Also their stories of day to day events are few and far between but so so funny.

Have been listening to this show and I’m working my way through the archives. I see it as more of a music appreciation program than just a show about video game music. So much variety in sounds and composition. The 1980’s & 90’s composers featured are true geniuses in music and it’s great to have hosts that can discuss the tunes in an informative and fun way.

I listen to video game music for almost 8 hours a day while working. It's great but there is no discussion or entertainment outside of the songs themselves. This podcast is essentially listening to people DJ an amazing video game music radio show. I just discovered it and found that they've been doing it for years. I'm listening through some of their back catalog and have been loving it. Please keep it up.

This podcast comes in two flavors, all music mix tapes and with the hosts joking around and providing context and information about the music. Both formats are excellent. Unlike other game music podcasts which seem to play only the most popular game music, this podcast delves deep into the musty nooks of obscure Japan only games and other oddities. Who would have thought a game as unplayable as Pictionary would have good music!
