    Insightful
Really enjoyed the insights shared by Dr. Roberto Olivardia on sleep and ADHD.
  • mr.me3848484
    Purely anecdotal
It’s all ‘I think this may help’ kinna advice. 3 times in 1 podcast they said ‘you gotta look at the situation to see what’s causing it’, when the cause is ADHD… ???
  • Alphadog7
    Gets a little political
Pete makes some political comments calling Elon Musk a lunatic and other political undertones. I could do without that. Otherwise pretty good.

I want to like this so bad…
I want to like this show so much but it’s truly is a hit or a miss. The topics and guests are great. They’re interesting, relevant, and educational to ADHDers. However, host Pete’s frequent “rant sessions” in the episodes are irrelevant, feel hostile, and in appropriate/disrespectful to guest. Once he goes on his rant, it’s hard for other host of guest to say anything in between. His rants are long enough that makes me feel anxious and checked out that I skip to another episode or another podcast. I do appreciate host Nikki’s knowledge, patient, and compassion toward her cohost. If you can filter out the irrelevant ranting and hostile, certain episode can be really helpful and educational.

    Incredibly informative
I'm relatively new in my ADHD journey and this podcast has helped provide so much information that I've been able to incorporate into my life. Even the topics that aren't immediately applicable to me are interesting to listen to as I explore and learn more about ADHD and how to view it in the context of my personal life.

    Really speaks to me
So happy to have discovered this podcast. Finally feeling understood and hopeful.

    Finally!!!
Finally!!! I found an ADHD Podcast I can stay focused on! I’m so happy today, because after listening numerous, and I mean numerous, different ADHD Podcasts- I finally found one that reaches me! I’ve been having a hard time with other ADHD podcasts because I would lose focus so easily- and it just turned into noise/background noise to whatever I was doing at the moment. But this one, I’m listening to it- laughing, smiling, agreeing- it’s such a nice & different feeling. I was about to give up on ADHD podcast, until I found this one! :-) Thank you so much!

    Absolutely hooked
I just finished listening to the most recent podcast, and combined with the work I’m already doing on my attention and procrastination, your connection of adrenaline working and limiting beliefs was a MAJOR ahHA moment for me. Can’t wait to listen to more and thanks for making such a great show!

    Disappointed by their gated promo
I was actually excited to hear their promotion of placeholder so that I could see if joining their patreon was worth it. But join patreon JUST so I can hear their upsell? No thank you.

My favorite thing to get me going!
I’ve been struggling with ADHD my whole life but recently came to terms that I have it (i’m a new therapist and have realized as I diagnose it that it is me to a T so I went and got diagnosed myself 😅). This podcast has been so helpful for me to not only have some great ideas for myself but also for my clients! I really appreciate you guys and want to just say to anyone considering this podcast that this is an incredibly informed and wonderful thing to listen to if you are struggling like so many of us. Keep up the great work guys!
  • mgm44106
Why do speakers ask “Right?” while talking.
STOP saying “right?” while presenting your material. I don’t know if what you are saying is right.

Just discovered this podcast & so grateful I did!
I was just diagnosed with inattentive ADHD this past fall at age 35, and my 8 year old son was diagnosed with hyperactive/inattentive ADHD last month, so I have been doing alllll the research (obviously! 😜), hired a coach, etc. In all of that, I found your podcast & subscribed, and was able to listen to my first episode while on a long drive this morning. As I listened to Dr. Kalaki describe her life and her struggles with undiagnosed, then diagnosed ADHD, while still affirming herself and her talents & strengths, I found myself flush with simultaneous grief for years of feeling like a failure & struggling to do what felt like the most menial of tasks, and sheer joy & relief at recognizing myself in someone else's life & struggle. I immediately listened to the episode before that, about not being able to "fix" ADHD, and began to just sob (unfortunately, it was also pouring rain outside- so it was raining from the sky AND from my eyes, which I wouldn't recommend while driving, but I made it to my destination safely!). Every word that Nikki and Pete spoke dove straight into my hungry heart & nestled there, affirming that I am not alone, that I am not broken, that my struggles will not be fixed by the mandate of "just be more organized", that I am not a crappy parent, that I am not lazy. I am beginning to feel like I have so much more agency in my life simply by learning more about how this neuro-diverse brain of mine works, and I'm starting to feel more & more equipped to help, encourage & support my son with his own ADHD. Thank you to Nikki & Pete for this incredible podcast, so full of resources & empathy... I'm so grateful I found you! :)

    Help for both generations!
My son and I both have ADHD. I typically listen to this podcast for tips on coping with my own ADHD. However, this podcast just proved to be useful for my son! He is in 2nd grade and struggling with reading and reading comprehension, even though he has a photographic memory. While listening to the episode where someone talked about living with undiagnosed ADHD, she described a coping mechanism I used to do when I was diagnosed! She mentioned reading the questions before reading a text, and it clicked in my head that this might be his problem! Thank you so much for this podcast and all of the wonderful guests!!
  • Emily@SKIPcoaching
    Very Informative!
The episode with Dr. Michelle Frank really hit a nerve with me. Diagnosed inattentive adhd at 10, my son was misunderstood for years. Now at 15, I still cringe when thinking of all the negative experiences in school. Thank you for highlighting the impact of not being diagnosed or missed diagnosis. The frustration goes deep which can quickly turn to other issues such as anxiety or depression. As other experts have highlighted (Dr. Hallowell) treating the ADHD may often solve the anxiety the person feels since it is so connected. Thanks for all your good work on everything ADHD!

    Too ADHD for me
I have tried so many times to listen to this podcast but they are so all over the place I cannot get through even one episode. You can’t get to the information because the presentation is disjointed and frenetic.
  • BlondeIceQueen
    Disappointed
Do they speakers have ADHD? The advice seems as if it is forcing a creative person to be linear and structured. The advice sounds shaming even if thst wasn’t the intent. I also didn’t care for the criticism of educators in “not preparing” students in the way of organization. This can be up to the parent, too.

    A Winner!
I’ve been enjoying this podcast for years and it’s helped me deal with my struggles is so many ways. Always upbeat and cheerful, they cover so many different aspects of ADHD, even the hardest ones, leaving me with a smile on my face and a hopeful perspective. Thank you for always being there 😊

    The best podcast about ADHD!
Podcast episodes run less than 40 min, the hosts Nikki Kinzer and Pete Wright make a conscious effort to stay updated with the latest news about treatment, medications, and practical strategies and advice. Additionally, shows have focused more on the emotional and psychological stresses associated with having ADHD and that has been really helpful, too. Finally, this show is for all ADHD diagnoses and sub-types so definitely give it a try!

I randomly found this podcast while trying to workout my end of day jitters and de stress from a work travel day. After 3 podcasts I’m hooked. Can’t wait to practice some of the tips they have provided, and listen to more! They have excellent flow, pace, and energy that keeps us ADHD’ers engaged. Thanks!!!

    So relatable!
Diagnosed in my 30s, this podcast has really helped me comprehend how ADHD influences me and some things I can do about it. Things I’ve experienced make more sense now. I love the encouragement to be kind and keep learning and improving. Thanks Pete and Nikki!

    Practical, Empowering & Fun
As a recently diagnosed adult with ADHD, I have found this podcast invaluable in helping me learn new strategies (but not too many at once!) to help me accomodate my unique daily "functioning." Through listening, I have also begun to accept my neuro-diverse brain and understand that it may cause me frustration, but it should never cause me shame. The episodes are just the right length, full of practical nuggets of information that can be implemented in daily life for positive improvement, and the hosts have a fun banter and compassionate perspective that has made me feel less alone in the some what tumultuous journey of ADHD. Thank you Nikki & Pete!
  • LotusPriya
    Learning experience!
I’ve had ADHD since I was a little kid. It runs on my dads side of the family. I’m almost 30 and I am always trying to evolve into a more productive “adhd-er” if you will. This podcast made me realize things about myself that I didn’t even know until they pointed out the other traits/struggles of people with adhd that just aren’t discussed much. They made me realize that yes, I might be walking in a zig-zag pattern in life, but as long as the goals are being met and I’m maintaining that determination to stay focused and efficient, I’ll be okay. I realized that being hyperfocused is a thing and Lordy, I have that and it’s madness! They discuss overstimulation too and I thought that was a sign of anxiety, but it turns out to be the adhd doing its little dance in my brain. It’s a very empowering podcast and I highly recommend it to everyone!

    I have learned so much
When I was diagnosed with ADHD at 45, it answered a million questions and left me with a million new questions. I have spent the last 6 months catching up on all the past episodes of Taking Control: The ADHD Podcast. Thanks to Nikki and Pete, I have been able to cut that million questions in half. This podcast, combined with medication, counseling and other resources, I now have an arsenal of tools to navigate my journey and to learn to use my ADHD as an asset. Nikki and Pete are very personable and pleasant to listen to. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to learn more about ADHD. Thank you.

    Very helpful
I absolutely love this show. Before I found out about this podcast, I was embarrassed that I had ADHD and had a hard time having a productive day. However after I started listening, I was able to let the embarrassment go, organize my life a little bit and my grades went up from C to A's. The Pomodoro technique that you mentioned absolutely turned my life around. Thank you guys so much.

    Great podcast. Great coach
This is a great podcast. As someone learning about how adult ADD (inattentive type) affects his life, I studied and listened to many podcasts. Their upbeat, and topically relevant back-and-forth is relatable, and informative. Choose an episode of interest and enjoy being educated and uplifted. I recommend. -df

    Balance with ADHD
I just wanted to say thank you. I too was recently blessed with the “let’s talk about your ADHD” during marriage counseling around a year ago. I have always had an inkling that something was different with the way I cognitively went about life but never had the gumption to figure things out, just claiming that if I worked harder, and wouldn’t be so lazy that I wouldn’t have these issues. It’s crazy to look back and see these issues through the lens of ADHD. Even after the realization period for me, I was still struggling to cope with the idea behind it and it was until I started listening to you both that things started making sense. The craziness of “I need to be more consistent, why can’t I” to a more realistic and positive approach to what is going on has not only brought hope back to my life but it might possibly be able to save my marriage. Thank you again and I’m looking forward to maybe taking a class or two sometime in the future when things get a little more settled after the holiday.

These guys move tirelessly forward researching ADHD ‘tips and tricks’ with compassion, humor, and an open heart. Rarely do you encounter individuals who set ego aside to dig in, explore, and help.
