What happened to all your backlog of stories??!!
Where did your backlog go? So sad. I had been working my way through them all and then, suddenly, puff they disappeared!

    Stories galore
Really enjoying a whole new cache of stories.

    Always Impressively Immersive
Very nice collaboration by the narrators/ story tellers! This tale is a well done simple circle of reality set in a world like ours, where each being has only a limited veiw of the whole, a fragmented view both in scope and time, how sometimes we are trapped simply by those limits of veiw, of experience. Always a pleasure to listen to BCS, always very diverse and truly, immersive.

    Decent stories. Poor quality audio.
The stories are good but, so much is lost because of poor quality recordings. If this podcast has any standards regarding the quality of narrator’s recording environment and equipment, clarity of narrator accent, or possibly even bitstream they may not be following them. Good stories but, lacks production value. Some narrators are difficult to understand. Some recordings are almost irritating to listen to. After so many years and with recording equipment so cheap there is no reason for stories to sound as if they were recorded by a non-English speaker on an iPhone 3 inside of a canyon.

    Fantastic
Truly literary adventure fantasy. Great characters and plotting with original ideas. Many great tales that make you feel like you are listening to a master bard spin you a yarn.

    I listen to every episode
The stories range from quite good to excellent. I have been brought to tears more than once. A great way to immerse oneself in different worlds.

    Love this
Nothing more comforting than the sound of the BCS horses. This is one of my favorite story podcasts. “Magic Potion Behind The Mountains” is one I loved so much I have listened to it at least four times now.

What happened to the old narrator? :(
I used to love this podcast, despite the fact that it only updates with one ~30 minute episode every two weeks. Recently though, they’ve replaced their previous narrator with random, different people every week. Unfortunately I don’t know the previous man’s name, but he was great! Without him, it’s just not the same podcast. :( Good stories, but since they don’t put out much content and they’ve switched readers (and seemingly record in different areas so the quality also varies), I’ve found myself gravitating towards other shows. If you’re looking for great sci fi and speculative fiction podcasts, Clarkesworld is still around at least!

    Great sound quality
I was out in my pasture listening to your podcast and the intro with the horse whinnying made my horses start whinnying and searching the pasture for their new friend. The stories are great and the intro is really well recorded. 😀

    Portrait of the artist
This is my first time listening to a podcast about stories and I really enjoy listening to it. The narrator was a delight to listen to.

    Very very good podcast
Good stories well read and no extra talk around them, it's really all about the stories.

Good Stories on a Regular Basis
The stories in BCS range from good to great with most of them being closer to "great" on that scale.

One of my favorite story podcasts
Fresh stories, wide variety, varying length to fit your listening time. One of the best podcasts for fiction.

    Solid podcast
Lots of great stories here. If you're just checking it out, try #142 "Everything beneath you "

Listen to this podcast and you'll be hooked too.

Great Stories, Good Variety … but ...
I am a big fan of fantasy and science fiction, short stories, and variety. This excellent podcast satisfies them all! There is quite a range of subject matter and writing style, and all are engaging and entertaining, polished and concise. The lengths are just right for a commute, or, if you have insomnia like me, need something to listen to quietly at night. The intro gives you a short background on the author. The reading is done in a straightforward manner, so if you want “performance”, this may not be the podcast for you. Now for the “but…” The man and woman who do the majority of the readings, while clear and intelligible, are monotone and lifeless enough to detract from the stories. The guest speakers sound as if they are reading in a cave, with an annoying echo that gives it an amateurish note. Unfortunately, this keeps it from being 5 stars.

    ohhhh..... the narrator
.... should stop. i listened to several stories. even up to the magically #42. unintentionally. i'm sure the stories are good; there's just no emotion behind them. please go to escapepod, or toasted cake, or scott sigler, or jc hutchins, or cast of wonders, podcastle, psuedopod... oh, and drabblecast (he's quite good). i could go on. and "no", i'm not remotely involved in any of these. sadly, i haven't even donated to all. there is a difference between READING a story and PERFORMING a story. this is just reading. i'm sorry, i know they've tried. i can't get beyond the monotone either.

    Good stories
    Excellent selection interesting listening

    Great story selection but...
Narration is unlistenable. Love the intro, but I listen only as long as I need to so I know if there is guest narrator. Can't get past the monotone, lifeless reading. Pity, because the stories are very good. Would be a 5 star with a new narrator.

    Excellent short stories
I just wish the horse "whinnied" sample in the intro wasn't so grating on the ear.
  • ungelic_is_us
    Good stories, ok reader
I really love the stories, but find their primary reader's voice monotone and grating. Otherwise, I really love this podcast!

    Outstanding!!!
    Stories & reading superb!
  • hellishly subtle
    I like it, but....
The galloping-horse intro is too long!

    stunning
Excellent fictional podcast-every story is fantastic, without the needless chattering or promos/ads littering your podcatcher! Highly recommend for all fans of fiction/short story form.

Every Freaken Story On This Podcast Is Great!
I love this podcast! Every story is great and that’s not common. I listen to other podcasts and the better ones have really good stories every now and then but, some how every story that Beneath Ceaseless Skies puts out is great! My only complaint is that I want more stories more often. Keep up the great work. I am definitely a fan.

A Benchmark production. Don't sleep on this one...
BCS is terrific. Nothing I write can say it better than a quick listen. Go ahead.

    Amazing Podcast/Webzine
In my opinion this podcast and web magazine is one of the best out there for fantasy. It is definitely of the same quality as Escapepod and Podcastle, and deserves to be listened to with the same attention as these other great podcasts. All of the stories contain captivating second worlds, so if you like epic fantasy similar to Tolkien and Lewis told in a variety of literary styles, this podcast is worth checking out. If you write this type of fantasy consider submitting your stories. They pay pro rates and attract new writers as well as established ones. The website is also extremely professional and sleek, which is rare to see in many online web magazines. Great Podcast!

    Great, character-driven fantasy, consistently well-read
I love short fiction podcasts because I can listen during my commute, which lets me fit a satisfying, full serving of storytelling into a busy schedule. I've sampled a lot of what's available, and after only four episodes, the Beneath Ceaseless Skies podcast now ranks at the top of my list. The characters are sympathetic and engrossing, the stories impeccably well-written, and the reading (performed primarily by editor Scott H. Andrews) is clear, natural, and easy to follow. Some other speculative fiction podcasts, such as Escape Pod and Podcastle, tend to feature readers who over-emote or overdramatize their delivery, which can be distracting. Andrews keeps the focus on the story itself, where it should be.
