On Tuesday's and Friday’s The Moth’s podcast feed presents episodes of the Peabody-Award Winning Moth Radio Hour and original episodes of The Moth Podcast.

Since its launch in 1997, The Moth has presented thousands of true stories, told live and without notes, to standing-room-only crowds worldwide. Moth storytellers stand alone, under a spotlight, with only a microphone and a roomful of strangers. The storyteller and the audience embark on a high-wire act of shared experience which is both terrifying and exhilarating. Since 2008, The Moth podcast has featured many of our favorite stories told live on Moth stages around the country. For information on all of our programs and live events, visit themoth.org.

    So awesome but…
The moth is great! but I feel like there’s barely any new stories and it takes so long to get them.😞😞😞

    Hardly any new stories anymore
I’ve never listened to another podcast that repeats their content as much as this one. At least other podcasts are transparent about their “encore episodes.”

    Sad it’s different now
Podcast has changed over past two years and not as diverse. I stopped listening to the last story today about the bookstore. Maybe it’s me, but I used to enjoy the wonderful stories from different walks of life but recently it seems to be same story over and over basically.

the stories are good but i am tired of the reruns and repetitive topics. glad that you are being inclusive but inclusive means EVERYONE. trans and queer people seem to be majority of these stories.

    Last episode weird editing
The last episode posted has super screwed up editing. It was really hard to listen to because the stories were literally repeating

    Horrible editing
Whoever edited this week’s rerun episode needs to be fired

    Ok fine…
10/31 - The latest episode was actually really cute… I heard this show on the radio one night a long time ago, and it sounded so affected and tedious. But I recently gave it another listen and it’s pretty good… soooo if you don’t like it at first, maybe wait a while and give it another try. It’s decent

    Changed
I have listened Moth for 10+ plus years and I am sad to say I find myself uninterested by the repetitive topics. This used to be a place where you could hear stories and experiences from all walks of life. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. It seems that Moth like so many other media outlets have chosen to represent the victim mentality. The general theme now seems to be white people, and in particular white males are bad and oppressive. If you are a minority or trans, you are almost certain to have your story aired. This focus only further separates us all. Do better

    Too Many Repeats
So many repeats these days…is it really that hard to find stories?

A chat on the stoop about the black community and swimming
I am a regular, happy listener of The Moth. I'm also 51, white, and I was raised in the south. We had segregated swimming, and I was raised with the certainty that Black people didn't swim because they didn't have the same buoyancy as white people. I really appreciated this episode. I appreciated learning the facts about how black bodies swim just as well as white bodies, but that there are historical prejudices that kept the Black community from developing swimming skills. I especially appreciated the commentary about black women's hair care and swimming. Thank you for bringing this episode to me. I learned a lot.

    Used To Be Good
I've been listening to The Moth for many years and it was great. These days, there are far too many repeats and far too many people who are trying to be witty and failing miserably. If The Moth wants a comedy podcast, do a spinoff and market it as such.
  • I Love Apple Podcasts
    It is very original
The only thing bad is all the repeats
  • cmmkl
Love it but too many repeats
The Moth is one of the joys of my life, look forward to it every week and I laugh, I cry etc. However, I don’t understand why, with all the stories that have been told over more than 2 decades and counting, there are so many repeats! I swear some of them I’ve heard 4 (or more!) times and it’s just starting to seem lazy…never thought I’d be skipping stories but I am…bummer

    Pregnancy
Hi, I want to start off by saying I absolutely LOVE the moth!! Longgg time listener and I also have attended a live show. It’s my favorite podcast. I hate to ask for another trigger warning before shows… I realllly do! But I have come across this issue a lot lately. I am pregnant and there are many episodes on traumatic miscarriage & still births etc. Pregnancy is an extremely sensitive and can be terrifying. I am having twins and I am a high risk pregnancy. I try to avoid filling my brain with this type of trauma especially since I have experienced miscarriage before. I KNOW that I am NOT alone in this with other pregnant people, it can be really disturbing and triggering in our condition. I think it would be beneficial to mention what stories are going to contain traumatic miscarriage and pregnancy complication as we do with sexual violence warnings. Let me know your thoughts! Thank you for your considerations.

    Getting worse and worse
They need to focus more on good, well-told stories, not on who is telling them. If you are a celebrity, even a minor one (like you were in a group that had a hit in the 60’s), you get your story featured. Or if you a trans person, especially one from a different culture, your story gets on here. It doesn’t matter if the story is predictable and boring and told without any charisma or charm (and they usually are). I’d much rather hear good stories that are told-well but by normal people. More like this used to be on here but there are less and less of them.

    Repetitive…
I absolutely love these stories! The Moth has done a great job of bringing the art of story telling to so many people. I’m so moved by what I hear. But a few years ago I unsubscribed because I was tired of hearing repeat stories. This morning, on my way to work, I decided to listen again after a hiatus of at least 3 years, and what do you know? I listened to 3 stories and 2 were repeats. Frankly I’m so confused. With so many stories to choose from why would they be choosing so many repeats?! I find it frustrating as a listener. But the actual stories are amazing!

    Unfollowing/subscription fee
Im disgusted that a show Ive been listening to as long as I can remember (FOR FREE) now wants my money for the same thing. Hopping on the subscription fee trend is something I thought they would be above. NPR/1A/The Moth all slowly just fell to the wayside. Everything is diff now. Changes r ok but this is ridiculous to me being nickle and dimed everywhere u go. Patreon, tv networks, etc…its deplorable

Hearing the episode this week about poetry brought back all of the tender emotions from hearing it live in Kansas. Love love love the moth!

    Love the moth, but….
I listen to the Moth regularly and absolutely love listening to the stories which I do at work through my earbuds, and additional hearing protection ear muffs, which leads to my only complaint. The intro trumpet music is so painfully loud compared to the talk portion that I have to yank off my safety muffs and snatch out my earbuds or try to get it turned down quickly before my hearing is damaged. Please think about adjusting the intro music volume.

    Some head scratchers
Usually like and rely on this podcast. Been listening to show for all 25 years. Been to live Moths. I’m a fan. However this weeks show on “bold moves” was sort of soul crushingly bad. 4 stories in a row said absolutely nothing. Ok some times there’s a dud or a slow episode. This episode left us stumped and asking HOW the stories got to air. Um what is bold about taking a camping trip to Israel where there’s a big moon? Why was it bold? What was risky about it? What was learned? No idea. Painful and cringy to listen to. Then came, yes, another hiking story about a tour guide with some city slicker friends. Risky? Bold? What? We don’t even know what happened. Where was the shift? AgIn - what was learned? Dead salmon smell — I get it. Was it a metaphor? We r not slow learners but there was nothing there for the listener to learn from. Then came getting lost w grandma. Was it going or coming? We have no idea. The teller seemed inspired by the outcome of grandma saying “thank you “ at the end as opposed to being angry with him . He did not seem soul crushed as we were by the apparently hours of silence they spent in the car not talking during which nothing passed between them. Nothing. We hoped grandma would have told a story or validated his personhood or something. Also why was it bold to drive grandma either to or from a reunion? Also with what sounded like 100 participants in the reunion How and why was he the only one who could drive? Also how long does it take to get from where they were lost to home. This was really an anti story. Nothing happened. I would say they regressed. The teller didn’t seem to think any walls came down. WHO directed these stories??? Last we had the lost boy walking home. Ok. It was as close to a moth story as we heard. Still. Really? The upshot was that no one believed he’d walked. Yes tho it was at least bold. In 25 years we never felt like we did today: like we wasted an hour of our lives. There’s often a story we think was thrown in bc of an inside connection or something. Ps no inside Moth “producer” should ever be the story telller. Whenever we hear that type of intro we know it’s going to be a dud- I do not think you all tell each other the truth in the production process. So. As a fan. As a contributor. As a human. I ask moth to do better. We depend on the quality. That show really let us down on an hour long car drive where we needed some support.

    A HEALTHY addiction!
I absolutely LOVE this show! It’s the essence of the human experience from a diverse perspective and yet also a common one! If ever there was a show that could help people to become more COMPASSIONATE to others, this is it!

    New theme music = 💯
I love to listen to the moth especially when I can’t sleep or am up taking care of one of our babies. I find it soothing EXCEPT when the theme music plays. The frenetic sound is jarring and unpleasant. And I dislike it all the more because it intrudes in these dark and memorable times when I seek the peace of someone else’s story.

    Fed up
I love the podcast I just wish that every other story wasn’t about some person being oppressed and some way or another, it just seems like a common narrative in today’s society that if you’re gay or black, you must be a second class citizen. America has come so far from where it once was and there is little to no acknowledgment of this. I understand that these are people stories, and how they view the world. I wish that social media and society at large would do a better job of acknowledging our progress rather than sitting in the past. If your goal is to make people think that straight white males are evil and never going to change, you are so very close to achieving that goal!

    What happened to regular stories?
Can we get back to funny or tear jerking stories that don’t have to deal with gender or religion or race? I used to love this show! Not anymore. 2 stars for effort.

    The Peoples Program
I started listening to MOTH in 2005. After I moved into my first house and after Hurricane Katrina. I moved to NC in 2003, bringing my mother here from California so that my sister and I could take care of her. My mother was diagnosed with Leukemia and was in the fourth stage when it was diagnosed. Listening to MOTH helped me to get through this.
