Awful podcast

I am 66 and not a sports fan in general, but I love baseball. I sent a long email explaining why but It didn’t get through and I don’t use social media. Nonetheless I am now a loyal listener since your podcast about the retirement of Dwight Gooden’s number. He was so exceptional that he lured my mother back to baseball after 30 years of ignoring it (she had been a NY Dodgers and National League fan since 1943). And then my Mom gradually got me interested in baseball and taught me the basics of the game—while we watched the Mets and were equally astounded by the phenomenon known as Doc! Your podcast about the ceremony was so much better than those of other podcasts and radio shows; it was on target and informative and a real tribute to a very special pitcher not just for the Mets but for baseball in general. So thank you for doing it! I have been listening to your podcast during this past football season (I hate football) and will continue to listen now that the Mets are playing. I just hope they get into the postseason again before I am too old to appreciate it!

I listened regularly for the past three years, he’s had so many bad takes that have been backtracked or just forgotten to time that I’ve had enough. What’s with this trend of splitting episodes? Is it to double the play count/ad revenue? Regardless, the whole thing about being a bridge between media and Mets fan is complete hogwash. He just doesn’t have the media connections the rest of the Mets pods have. He loves to spin stuff in his favor, like being the “podfather” etc, give me a break Mike. 30% ads, 10% talking about his subscription service. So many better options out there that don’t feel like pan handling.

As you say I enjoy the show or I’d stop listening but MAN, the commercials have quintupled or more and the $ begging along with that… even without paying I feel like it’s a pay-to-listen show now… thankful for the 30 second advance button

My favorite Mets podcast …highly recommended

Easily the worst Mets podcast out there. Arrogant clown gives his garbage opinions on things he doesn’t understand. Avoid at all costs.

Love the show, the variety, the attitude. I was slightly disappointed that the announcer discussion didn’t name check Bob Uecker. Even during his career as a TV clown, he was a great radio voice — and never stopped doing it

I have been listening to Mile Silva’s talkin Mets Podcast for several years and as a Met fan I find the topics relevant, informative, and entertaining. I don’t always share Mike’s opinion about the topics, as a matter of fact I disagree about half the time but it’s what I enjoy most about the show. Mike gets you to think, and is not afraid to be critical of the Mets. Thanks for the content Mike. Well done.

Grew up in NJ listening to WFAN and loved the Mets coverage. Now many miles from NY, my Mets news comes from podcasts, and Talkin Mets gives me deep coverage from unique angles.

Love the podcast and love the opening when it starts with an interview clip and goes into he 70’s Mets theme! So keep the 70’s Mets theme!

Very insightful, intelligent discussion about our Metropolitans. Don’t always agree with Mike’s assessments but he makes valid arguments.

Mike is a true independent and reasoned voice who is not afraid to buck the trends.

Mr Silva has the gift of gab. No nonsense, informative but also interesting opinions and insights. If you like the Mets, you’ll like Mike.

Is it just me or is Mike having a hard time saying Justin Verlander’s name correctly? And don’t get me started on Adam Ottavino’s Cmon Mike, you’re better than that. Or are you trying to be edgy? Been listening for a long time, Mike should know these names.

Mike you’re lost. DeGrom is not even close to Gooden or even Koosman for that matter. Listen on YouTube to the the September 8 1969 game against Cubs Koosman v Bill Hands Mets with a chance to pull within a 1/2 game. Clinging to a 3-2 lead Koosman is on the ropes when he gives up two hits to start 8th inning. Gil Hodges decides he’s going to ride his horse. Koosman then strikes out the next six consecutive batters for end the game. Mets never looked back. DeGrom has never done anything like that in his career. Come on now!

Been listening since the end of 2016. Mike does a great job discussing the past, present, and future of the Mets. He's very authentic and a pleasure to listen to. Keep it up Mike!

I don’t always agree with Mike but I thoroughly enjoy his show. I tune in every week. He does a great job with his analysis. The sincerity he showed in the final episode to the listeners felt authentic. Mike, as you have said Buck was a great hire. He kept the team focused all season and he deserves credit for up leveling the culture and quality of play. Having said all that, Buck has some ‘splaining to do about why the team didn’t show the focus and fight it had all season in the two biggest series. The bar has been raised like you said but Buck needed to deliver that message to the team in the final stretch. He didn’t and I suspect that was a lost opportunity. Buck doesn’t need to go. He needs to prove he’s learned from this experience.

EXACTLY what I needed! As a 60 yr old lifelong Mets fan, I too feel the “irrational fear.” Each game was affecting my life to the point of needing to completely disconnect and only check the scores. Definitely my go to Mets Podcast. Mike has the best takes and best feel for the team. I look forward to the podcast every week. I can’t wait to hear how Mike feels about the trade deadline. Must listen for real Mets Fans who want honest breakdowns and realistic views on the team.

I really enjoy Mike Silva’s podcast. His commentary on the Mets is grounded on reality, facts, and common sense. I like how he switches between the past, present, and future. It’s an easy listen as I walk my dog. Great job Mike!

Mike is awesome! He is insightful, balanced, extremely knowledgeable and fun to listen to. I read the negative reviews and just shake my head. This is one of the better Mets podcasts.

I’ve listened to all the Mets podcasts out there, this is my favorite. Mike does a fantastic job covering the Mets every week with great balanced takes and analysis of the team.

Found Mike’s podcast in early March and have enjoyed it since. Mike is a Mets fan but not a homer and is knowledgeable, objective and brings his opinions both good and critical. It’s a bar convo or backyard with some buddies or a random fan talkin Mets baseball. Thanks Mike and LGM!

Mike you’re an incredible host and have made an amazin’ podcast! Don’t listen to the people who say you’re negative, I’m from south Texas and trust me everyone in this state is actually negative to the Mets. So listening to your pod is a nice refresher from someone who actually watches the team. …oh and yes I’d love to see Pete do cartwheels around the bases and maybe roll to home plate like a bowling ball or something but that’s just me lol

Mike does an outstanding job on this podcast. He brings his own wisdom , life experience, knowledge of the Mets , media , baseball and overall perspectives into his pod. I really appreciate how hard he tries to create balance, which is unusual in New York podcasts. I really enjoy his monologues. I do wish he would have more hallmark guests, as he is an excellent interviewer and listener. I really don’t agree with all of his perspectives, but I appreciate his explanations for his point of view. If you are a met fan, especially out of the New York market, like me, you will look forward to his podcast. Five stars for sure.

Lifelong Mets fan, first game was Seaver vs Blass 1971. Seaver threw a 1-hitter! I listen to every Mets podcast out there, Talkin Mets is the best in my book. Love the guests, the focus on Mets history. Great work Mike! Thanks and keep it up.

Mike is very knowledgeable and has great takes. You may not agree with everything he says but he always has the facts to back up his opinion and if you wait long enough, it usually turns out to be right. Give it a listen, you won’t be disappointed.

Mike does a very thorough and balanced take on my beloved Mets. As a fan of the Mets my whole life he gives a good balance of realism and pessimism. Unfortunately I am more pessimistic but I still love them amazins. Lfgm. Ohh Frank the tank maybe the worst guest and probably the most inarticulate human being I have ever heard. Your better off doing the show solo. His review. and analysis consists of cursing and rambling. Moreover, I think if you just found a random New Yorker he would be a better podcast guest.

Mike does a thorough job of evaluating what’s going on. He has an honest perspective on the team’s status. He raises interesting questions and keeps the listener engaged in the show.

Mike is both knowledgeable and fair, which is rare in today’s media. While columnists in the post and the daily news root for drama and clicks, Mike is informative and accurate. I highly recommend the pod as an effective foil to the traditional media that covers the Mets.

Mike Silva's Talkin' Mets is the go-to NY Mets podcast. Mike offers his frank reviews of the players, the team, and management on a weekly basis. Good place to check in on what's going on with the Mets and MLB. Been listening for a while, and check in weekly during the season, and in the weeks leading up to the new season. Higly recommend.

Welp, if you’re looking for a Mets podcast that’s from a “glass half empty” type of person, than this is the one for you. I get being honest when it comes to this team, but this dude is a real downer 99% of the time.

He goes on long speeches about how “woke media” is ruining baseball and they should stick to talking about sports but he doesn’t realize that’s exactly what he does. He sometimes can give good takes but it’s not worth the majority of the time he spends whining

Mike, life long Mets fan. I enjoy many Mets podcasts but yours stands up as podcasts about the Mets for real Met fans. Alway in depth and audio quality is good. Good luck and I hope for many more Mets podcasts.
