I like the content was able to draw conclusions of my own but definitely missing a lot.

Good podcast but you cheapen it with the lame re-enactments. Also, a lot of repeating in episodes. Angelina is just not the right fit as the interviewer. Her questions are so naive and limited. It’s like she is playing a role in a who-dunnit.

I hate having to leave this type of review. The content is compelling. It’s a good pod. Each 25-30 min episode, after recap intro, commercials, and repetitive credits for the outro, you’re left with about 15-20 min of ACTUAL content. Frustrating. I know everyone needs to get paid, but I feel taken advantage of when there is nearly as much commercial/fluff as there is actual content.

This is a wonderful story about father , son and friends.

Solid show…. Some stories just stay incomplete but they did a good job investigating..

But I feel like the host needs to invest in deep therapy for his daddy issues. Also, he’s not quite charming enough to curse as much as he does.

This was not good. The story teller took way too long of pauses, repeated information and I feel so bad for the people they interviewed. Their questions were mostly insensitive and self serving. The story has no resolve, was not that interesting and left you still wondering but not caring at all about the truth. I just feel bad for those who were made to be involved. Oh and the ads were the worst.

Boring. I just ended up losing interest and forgot why we care going over this case again. Narrative guy needs therapy, not to narrate a podcast on his life.

A lot of moments explaining things that were already stated. It made me feel like this was edited for elementary kids. Lots of gaps that could have 2 seconds removed because I kept reaching for my phone because I thought that it had stopped, but it was a weird long silent gap. I didn’t like the naive reporting of approaching Ulysses. As a man that still could be prosecuted, you approached him with recording devices and expected to get anything out of him? Have some respect for his vulnerabilities. Had you gone to him privately, heart on your sleeve, as a man wanting to know more about his shut down father, he may have friended you, off the record, and given you some sort of peace of mind. Lots of podcasts don’t conclude anything, I don’t fault this part of the reporting. It was still interesting.

This whole podcast is your father’s eulogy. A eulogy to his whole self, a whole person.

I think this is put together incredibly. I understand, from the narrator’s (son) perspective his being frustrated with others perceptions of his dad. Just because someone is a great guy in public doesn’t mean he is behind closed doors. It can be hella frustrating knowing that people outside of the home are treated much better than those in the home.

If I could I’d give it 0 stars. Only got through 3 episodes and had to stop.

Host is a cry baby about his dad that can’t believe anyone else because of his opinion of his dad. If you’re gonna interview people don’t go on a podcast and say you just can’t believe them.

I thought the reporting and narrative in this show were interesting and engaging. But: the cheesy over-acted readings of court proceedings were SO annoying. Those sections really distracted from this otherwise professional-seeming production.

Loved the perspective from the children and really; enjoyed listening to Calvin as he has a great voice and his sincereness. I find him very credible, and enjoyed, listening to his point of view.

Maybe when you realize your investigation has failed … that you have no answers to offer … or even have uncovered a new question to ask … maybe don’t subject the podcast world to what ultimately becomes a waste of OUR time as well.

I could tell a couple of minutes into the second episode they were going down the police incompetency route. The victim said who the killer was and why it happened, of course that’s the lead the police would go after. Tired of hearing agendas pushed that just aren’t there.

A complete waste of time. The main narrator needs therapy NOT time to record a podcast to try to resolve his daddy issues!!!

I really good podcast but the narrator seems like a piece of crap son.

I Just started the podcast and I must say its already so captivating, as a Stockton native myself, I enjoyed the details of how this podcast is covered and I am able to imagine all the locations they talk about. Although, Stockton has changed much since the 70’s I’m sure, it is still the same in many places like downtown and the Southside. I can related to Alex on so many levels and I can’t wait to get to the finish where I am sure I will have some burning questions for him!! - Vanessa

This one’s boring I keep catching myself not paying attention for like 20 minutes at a time

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, sounds weird yet as the story unfolded, the listener evolves in a way because you can’t help but relate in some small way…how children view their parents vs the outside world what we are privy to and what’s held in confidence. I cried at the end and cried during the bonus episode AND busted out laughing at “what do you talk about with your friends?” True friends…for both of these men, they were brothers, they were the family they chose for themselves. Thank you so much for telling this story.

So angry for Calvin. He is the hero here and the fact that he has kindness in his heart after what he went through… amazing. Patricia Cline and husband were/are evil. A lesson

I appreciate hearing this investigative story from the perspective of a child yearning to understand an enigmatic parent. A life that should not be forgotten. Calvin Jones is a very compelling being who was dealt a terrible injustice.

Alex and crew tell a important story looking at America’s criminal justice system from a very personal perspective. I was hooked 5/5

I love true crime and this series doesn’t disappoint. It’s kinda like a mix of crime and a personal essay. The story is told from such an interesting perspective and kept me on my toes!

Could have been interesting, but they made it super boring, gave up after 2 episodes. 😴😴😴

This was clearly biased from the beginning - like a kid who has his parent framed in his mind a certain way and no matter what else others say or other evidence he has - that’s it. Terrible story telling. Lost me in the second episode. Just felt silly.

It's no up and vanished but it was ok

Alex Estrada has done great relating pain and injustice at the deepest levels. His story and research involves family, law enforcement, politics and unsubstantiated witnesses. Painful yet necessary to have on record.

Each episode has me hanging on for the next! How interesting that what seems like such a small specific story can unravel to have so many deep and intricate paths. A favorite in the true crime genre!

I’ve been really enjoying the podcast. The host grappling with the disconnect between his fathers history and his own personal experiences with his father is a particularly interesting detail. Can’t wait for the next episode!

Always a fan of anything Tenderfoot so this new project got me excited! Such an interesting story and really love that it’s from Alex’s perspective.

Why do people think if they have a story that they think is interesting they should be the ones to tell it? What a horrible narrator. What a boring go Nowhere story. Who are these narcissists Who think they should host their own podcast of complete and utter ‘meh?’

I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts. This wasn’t a fave early on…the story telling wasn’t compelling. I stuck it out just to hear the story but won’t recommend it

Usually Tenderfoot always delivers but this one was just a miss. Stopped listening mid episode 5, it's just boring story telling, nothing gripping.

Made it halfway through Episode 3 but couldn’t bear anymore. All that’s happened is slagging off the police & society because they jumped to going after his father like they were in some conspiracy or racist instead of the fact the victim literally named the shooter before he died. If there was loads of evidence to back up his innocence then fine, but they haven’t presented any. The arrogant tone is grating and the ‘acting’ beyond painful. Shame as thought it could be good story.

I was enjoying the reporting style until the perceived racism ideology began. I’m done! Just report facts, construction, gangsters, selfish, abusive men! So tired of a victim mentality disguised as news/reporting.

Expected more for such a highly rated show. The episodes are short and very drawn out. Stuck it out for 4 episodes but not worth it to continue.

I really was excited when I heard about this a year ago. Can’t believe it’s finally here. This is almost as exciting as the time Paul Wall, “The People’s Champ”, came to the Stockton Best Buy #528, home of the great, looking for his dvd. Which we didn’t carry. He just walked the eff out, LUL.

I’m enjoying the first two episodes and will be subscribing. Harelip haters grow up. Next fact….It’s made Joaquin Phoenix a star. This podcast is good…ready for more episodes.

I listened to this great 5 star podcast for the 1st - the 3rd episodes then when the 4th episode came I had to start paying for it. It’s unfortunate that this is not told to us prior to even starting a podcast. I would not have begun. I’m a retired teacher living on a limited income. Please be fair and conscientious as the collective can not all afford even $5 a month. Thank you. Be well.

Started this podcast with excitement and curiosity but the super short episodes that don’t have enough content, is painful. Right when the 30 minute episode appears to be getting to some revelation…”that’s on next week’s episode.” I’ve found if episodes are thin and short then the series is probably lacking much. Waste of time honestly.

When you compare the modern day division of cities by demographics to the forced “segregation” of the mid 1900’s you lost me. I don’t know of an attorney who would make that statement. And you didn’t even to be using hyperbole. Lost me.
