PaulJ93Misleading In Many WaysI was disappointed about this one. With the title “The Studies Show” i figured the primary topic of discussion would be “studies”. Boy was i wrong. Tom and Stuart went on and on about United States political stuff. It over took 10 minutes before they had mentioned anything studies related. One of the host, i don’t remember who, was it not good at speaking in a podcast environment and it was extremely distracting. So much of the episode was dedicated to making fun of people and generalizing whole groups of people in negative ways. I honestly don’t understand how they have so many good reviews. I had to stop my self from turning this off at lease 5 times before i realized it would never get about science or studies. Tom and Stuart, that was really low. I hope this review gets in the hands of other people before they waste time with the negativity.

BrianbuchCan’t hear you, which is sad, because your show is great.I love your show. It’s great. I also sometimes listen as I work out or in my car. Please, please, please record your show at a higher level. Even with the volume turned all the way up, I can just about hear you above moderate ambient noise. Thank you.

dunstantinopleGreat content! Uneven audioI will literally turn this into a five star review and become a paying subscriber if you get someone to help you fix your levels. I have to listen to this louder than all my other podcasts and Tom is still talking into his chest half the time

kcollettGood showIn general, I very much appreciate this podcast. It gets a bit too self-indulgent at times, so I took off a star for that. This didn’t affect my rating but this podcast has by far the ugliest show art of the various podcasts to which I subscribe.

WombathoundRFKGuys, love the podcast! And loved the RFK impersonation I was in stitches

FirthofDrengistGood show, a bit too much digressionThe hosts know their stuff and address interesting topics. However, I wish they would play it a bit straighter. Some of the humorous asides are distracting when you’re trying to follow the thread of the research in question, and they talk over each other a lot. I prefer to read the transcript.

lucaswjGood, data driven stuffUnlike any number of shows with the words “science” or “skeptic” in their name, this show really is interested in looking purely at what, if anything, current research says about topics of popular interest.

nomorelandminesFewer digressions pleaseExcellent skeptical review of research, especially in psychology. But it would be so much better with fewer digressions and jokes. Maybe their could be a edited version with a little less humor?

emkolbTried to love - the hosts are just too smugI really love podcasts like this but I can’t get through an episode of their smarmy, smug tone. If that’s your jam or you don’t mind - you’ll love this!
-
junior chomskyHeavy and deep research - Explained simplyThe hosts dig deep into a single topic. They do an excellent job at sifting through studies that are not so rigorous, or perhaps flawed in some way(s). When if comes to controversial subjects, they are fair, and stick to what the science says. Love it.

andywaltersScience journalism par excellence, with funny accents to bootThis podcast is like sitting at the dinner table with informed, careful, scientifically literate friends exploring an issue from many angles. With each episode, I learn a little more about the topic at hand or the trappings of science such as p values and sample sizes. But more importantly than the WHAT, I learn HOW to think critically about scientific work. As a non-academic who wants to develop my scientific muscle, just soaking up their intuitions about how to make sense of scientific output has been extremely valuable. The accents are great, too!

Robbie BowmanCurrent yet timelessOne of those shows I wish I had discovered years from now so I’d have a big back catalogue to binge. Ritchie and Chivers have great on mic chemistry. They discuss matters in simple terms without dumbing it down. Truly minds to be mined!
-
VertJFClear thinking on difficult questionsThe hosts of this show are both smart and dedicated to rational thinking - exactly who you’d want to hear discuss interesting, difficult scientific questions that have been the subject of much misinformation. Keep it up guys!

iPersistGreat science communicationEnjoyable show about current scientific debates, conducted by two people who are frequently questioning their and others’ biases. Looking forward to more episodes!
