    A Wealth Of Metal Knowledge
Ferris has forgotten more about Slayer and Metal than I’ll ever know. 10/10. Or 5/5 I guess.

    You’re in for a treat
The host DX Ferris has two fantastic books on Slayer. The first one dedicated specifically to their legendary metal music landmark album “Reign in Blood” and the second one is the extensive biography of the band. This podcast is the updated and extended audio version of that second book (which is quite obvious from podcast description). I’ve read both of his Slayer books somewhere around 2014-2015 and now I’m enjoying this audio revisit. The host announced that the plan is to tell the story of the band over the course of one year! For me it means that every week or two I am guaranteed to have a new piece of Slayer’s history, insights and anecdotes and spend quality podcast time. The audio arrangements of the podcast is another cherry on the top! If you know Slayer catalogue well you gonna enjoy them very much!

I want this to be good but…
Clearly a labor of love, the host is obviously a fan but that can’t save this podcast from being rambling and surprisingly low on actual content. Most die hard slayer fans aren’t going to find much new. This band is in dire need of a great podcast, unfortunately this one is very underbaked. Id love to see an editor and producer brought on board. To me, this is like a demo tape of a podcast and it’s a shame.

    Reign in the blood
If you like talkin’ Slayer without having to hear the host talk a bunch of other unrelated stuff about what they did all weekend, then “Talkin’ Slayer” is the podcast for YOU.

    F’N SLAYER!!!
If you read this far, you’re a Slayer fan. Based on that, this podcast is for you. Ferris has a plethora of knowledge on Slayer’s past and present. And not just the band, but people who worked with them and other musicians who were around during their heyday. There’s bound to be something new or interesting to even the casual fan - not that a Slayer fan is casual. Put down the true crime stuff for a while and listen to something that really matters. SLAYER!!!
