    The best metal podcast
I first found these guys years ago when I was discovering what a podcast was. I searched for metal and I believe first started with an old episode talking about progressive metal. I was instantly hooked. These guys are about my age (which I won’t say), but they’ve been around for the 80’s&90’s yet have immense knowledge of all eras. They are very well studied and honestly when I want to learn more about a band, scene or style, they are one of my first and best resources. Highly recommend.

    Your guide to metal history
Requiem is the top of the list for podcasts overall, not just metal podcasts. When talking about music or podcasts it’s rare that I’m not mentioning a fact about a band I learned about here or just talking up the quality of the research and production that goes into every episode. Every episode is worth a listen. I pick up new things when they are talking about a band I’ve known for years like Entombed and I’ve discovered new bands like Edge of Sanity and Sabbat (Japan) thanks to the podcast. Also, Mark and Jason are just good dudes and I love the diversions into talk about comics, art, teaching. Plus it’s great to listen to Jason and Mark talk about Paradise Lost as often as my brother and I!

    Long form Metal
Jason and Mark excel at the in depth, deep dive of all genres of metal with insights, interviews and historical contexts of the bands they research. I recommend this podcast to every metalhead I know. Their chemistry as metal and media fans shines through with each listen, and some of the highlights are the moments they go off script with chats on history, their personal lives and Paul Verhoeven. These podcasts are long, and need to be. If you’re intimidated, break it up, but don’t avoid it. If you’re looking for a place to start, I’d recommend the Deceased episode. This is a band I knew so little about and the interviews with King Fowley are amazing.
