    Awesome resource
Shelise is an excellent interviewer. Very in- tune with her guests. she approaches every guest’s experiences with utter grace and empathy. She uses her own life lessons to relate to them on a deeper level than most other pods. Her & the hubby are the dynamic duo!🩵

Great podcast for people with religious trauma
While triggering topics are discussed, this podcast goes about dealing with them in a respectful manner and let's the guests tell it at their own pace and what they are comfortable sharing. I myself have religious trauma and this podcast has helped me feel less alone in my deconstruction as well as giving me hope in humanity that not all people are bad and some of us do make it out of the darkness

    Great show!
You have the beat people on, especially Chad Harris! Thanks for being one of the few hosts who doesn't interrupt their guests all the time!

    Love your work
I’m a new fan. But saw Apostate Prophet and he’s one of my favourites, so his is the first I’m listening to, but won’t be the last.

    Ammon! You are an inspiration.
Blessings to you and your family. I can’t relate to your life in the FLDS, but in listening to your podcast episode I was filled with hope, love and peace of heart. You are an inspiration to everyone who finds themselves in a high control religion. Thank you for sharing - I imagine it is not easy to dwell so long in your painful past. Thank you, thank you to you, your wife and family. 💕

    Forced to Marry Al Quada
This was such a timely piece with what is going on now in Israel and Palestine. I hope you have more episodes regarding this topic. It was very informative. Your quest did a great job in her telling of her life and the current climate in the Middle East.

    Love your show
I just listened to “A Well Trained Wife” and pre-ordered Tia’s book on Amazon. Her story is chilling and I think there is a warning in it for our country today because of the rise of Christian Nationalism and its patriarchal elements within members of our government. We need to be aware of these teachings. Thank you for helping Tia to share her story.

    Charlotte Medlock awful & abusive
I was in the same cult with Charlotte at the same time as Charlotte. She was even meaner and more evil than Guru Jagat could ever be — at least Guru Jagat tried to show kindness. Charlotte was mean, so mean!! Horrible person. It’s so painful for me to see her everywhere talking about Guru Jagat who was definitely questionable, no doubt about it, but Charlotte went out of her way to be rude to anyone who was new to the group. Talk about mean girls, Charlotte was horrible.

The topics I didn’t even know I wanted to learn about!
I stumbled on this podcast when Shalise was a guest on another podcast I occasionally listen to. I’m not particularly drawn to the topic, but Shalise’s intelligent, kind, nonjudgmental interview approach makes every episode engaging and interesting. She’s able to draw out the raw honesty of her guests because she offers them a safe space to tell their stories. She has enlightened me to the psychological aspect of high demand religions. I particularly love episodes about religions I’m peripherally aware of but had no idea the depths of their beliefs and the culture of manipulation. Shalise has earned a true fan in me.

Like how episode 69 was about a sex cult club. 😂😂😂

    Curative property of truth
I loved the Elizabeth Hinty episode. What a woman! For those of us who idealized the Amish and Mennonite communities, I so appreciate her truth. Such a beautiful story of love and faith.

    Excellent source of insight
This channel provides a much needed platform for people to share experiences in high-demand religion that are reflective of cult behaviors. A couple qualifiers: First, the host regularly states the falseness of specific religions as fact, which wholesale denunciation of religion is equally unverifiable to truth claims, and is not helpful IMO. Given the millions and millions of people who do and receive good through the vehicle of religion I think it’s more important to point out cultish tendencies in religions, rather than attacking the religions themselves. Second, I am surprised by how many details the host gets wrong about her own former religion. The target of consciousness is undermined when a religion is derided on false premises. That said, we’re all human, and the host does a great job facilitating her guests’ stories, which is where the value is. Listeners just need to take factual claims about religions’ specific beliefs with a grain of salt. Listen to learn how to uproot cult tactics from your own life, not to have someone tell you why your belief system or someone else’s is part of a cult.

Good for you paving your own path
I just recently listened to one of the first episodes (because I’ve been hoping all over the place) and learned how she got this podcast going on her own and it’s inspiring. Your story is fascinating and you’re a really good interviewer and you have a great voice. I also love that you put the clip in the beginning. I’d love for you to have some chats more about your own experience though too! 👏👏👏

    Really Good!
Shelise seems like a very respectful and thoughtful person. I happened to see this podcast while I was browsing to find something new to listen to. I listened to the episodes about the Hasidic community first ( I am Jewish, Reform). Shelise was great with the questions she asked, she never interrupted and she seemed very genuine. I am currently listening to the episodes with Amanda Rae, I watch her on YouTube. It would be interesting if you could do an episode about the LeBaron family. I have read several books by women who have left that community, and it would be interesting to hear more about them, or even hear from them.

    Thank you!!!
I started watching you on YouTube and now listening to the podcast on drives and I am so thankful you are spreading awareness about cults and cult like families and groups. It’s great therapy for us who have lived that life! I love the podcast and YouTube!!!

    Best Cult Podcast
I’ve listened to many cult podcasts and this was by far is the best. The host does a great job of letting the person tell their story and provides solid questions to keep the conversation strong.

    Great content
Really enjoyed the episode with NuanceHoe. You two are great. I also loved your interview with John Dehlin. Great insight on both of you and your very important work in this space. This content helps those of us who recently dared to look behind the curtain and found that what we saw didn’t fit our integrity.

    So healing and eye opening
As a survivor of UPCI, IBLP, Charity, Michael Pearl and conservative Mennonite church, these episodes resonate so much with the abuse from my past.

Is there any fact checking for the guests?
I really like this podcast however, after listening to the (ex) doomsday o report mormon Rachel who , with her siblings, supposedly attended college after 8th grade, I wonder if there’s any fact-checking on the guests, because she definitely sounds a bit all over the places. Skipping high school to go to college? Community colleges here in AZ require so many high school credits, a math entrance test etc. before admitting a student. And college classes cost money, which is something this guest has made very clear her family didn’t have. So, love the podcast, I’m just questioning this guest in particular.

    A fantastic find.
I stumbled upon C2C while looking for content on spiritual awakening. Shelise is a gifted story teller. Her calm, empathetic and genuine demeanor puts her head and shoulders above other podcasts. You can sense that she truly loves what she does. I can not wait to see how her channel grows as she grows too. I highly recommend.

    Fun and informative
Heavy on stories about leaving the Mormon church, but fascinating stories. I stumbled upon it by looking for information about the quiver full movement. I’d love to keep hearing stories about people leaving a variety of groups, why they left and what they found.

Awesome variety of guests and very promising!
Awesome guests and I really want to like this show more, but the host’s complete unfamiliarity with a lot of things the guests are talking about is really off-putting. She doesn’t seem to even have basic context for the beliefs of some of the guests sometimes. I hate to say it, but I wish she might do a bit more research prior to her interviews. I’m not really sure what she’s bringing sometimes to the interview besides an open heart and a basic understanding of Mormonism I guess?
  • Deana Ballard
    Loved the Episodes with Mom
I am enjoying the talk you are having with Mom. Mom has a perspective very similar to mine having had a temple marriage and being cheated on, loving the temple and the garments but so glad to shed it all and be a healthy person after. The temple experience gives you a more broad perspective of what the after Mormon experience is like. I am an unusual leaver o f the church though. I had no social or family pressure to stay in the church. Leaving for me was very easy once I decided it was time to go. I feel very sorry for people who have lost family and friends for that reason. I’m hoping someday I’ll hear a podcast with my leaving situation. You have a very relaxing voice and so easy to listen to!

    A+++
Outstanding! Holy cow- I am a podcast snob and I am blown away at how naturally gifted a storyteller Shelise is and a great interviewer, too! (the John Dehlin episode is how I found this) So many fascinating topics👍🏽💙

Funny, captivating & also basically a hug in a podcast
Shelise has an incredible ability to tell stories & bring out vulnerability in people. She is an amazing space holder & you can feel the love she has for people & the passion she has for life as you listen. I keep refreshing hoping another episode will appear even though the last release was yesterday. I’m so happy she is doing this thing!

    Empowering 💕 Relatable ✨
This podcast is very empowering but also relatable. I don’t think people realize how common cults are and because of this sometimes we don’t realize our experiences fall into the category of being a cult. I know a lot of people listening will start to realize some of the toxic dynamics that they have experienced but didn’t know what to name them until listening to these episodes. This podcast highlights of the dangers of cult environments and also how to get your life back and live from a place of self empowerment.
