Like the show, this podcast is excellently done! A lot of insight and truth going on and enough information and data to show the need for a complete re-imagination of public safety, crim justice, the drug war, and so much more to dismantle the systemic and persistent issues that we say, as a society, we want to change in our cities and the nation.

I am a police officer from one of the surrounding jurisdictions and I have been following this case since it first broke. I read the book and was very excited to watch the series. Even tho I knew the events after reading the book, it was great to see it played out and visually get the sense of the characters involved. The podcast is an excellent companion for the show and I especially enjoyed hearing the interview with Mr. Bernthal. He is absolutely correct in saying that most officers are not in the “us vs them” mentality and it breaks our hearts to see certain “bad apple” ruin the bunch. I truly believe that with the implementation of Wellness Teams within the police departments the departments can 100% focus on the mental aspect of this job and hopefully steer officers away from adapting that us vs them mentality. I look forward to future podcasts and episodes.
