1001 Stories From the Old West

0

Welcome to the new 1001 Stories From the Old West.. Here we offer hand-picked accounts from diaries, historical documents, autobiographies, books of the time period, and historians to bring you the American frontier story directly from the people who lived it. You'll hear actual accounts of Indian battles, pioneer struggles, outlaws, cowboys and Indians, lawmen, and the men and women who took the chance and moved west, many by wagon train, to a largely uncharted and wild territory. Go west, young man, are the words often attributed to Horace Greeley, American author and newspaper editor, but there was more to that quote. He wrote “Washington is not a place to live in- the rents are high, the food is bad, and the morals are deplorable. Go west, young man, go west, and grow up with the country. We invite you to go west with us to another world, another time, another place- and see if you have what it takes to survive and thrive in a world that was much simpler than today's- yet demanded much more of you. Time to mount up-1001 Stories From the Old West is waiting for you. We publish new episodes every other Sunday night at 6pm Eastern Standard Time and you're invited to join us where ever you go for podcasts

    I beg you!
I am a huge fan of every one of your shows. I've been listening for years. You have a new advertisement for an online casino and it's obnoxious and loud. It's louder than any other and the content! Please consider finding sponsorship.

    1001 & ./. 2
Love the old stories. Especially when the M.C.s read from old novels written by the people who actually lived it. Hagedorn & the kid clearly love the genre. When they dig up something written by a real cowboy or Native American or settler, it’s really special & fun to listen to. Nonetheless, they’ve lately been playing reruns of old radio programs. Not what I signed up for. I love the narrators. But nobody beats Greg Bell for classic radio, plus there are lots of classic radio podcasts. This path leads nowhere. If they stick to the original format, they’ll educate the public, entertain history nerds like me, and probably dig up more classic under-read books. I will stick with 1001, but sure wish this new format would go BYE BYE!!

    Thanks for continuing!
Thanks for continuing the Texas Ranger stories! While I enjoy the stories from Kevin Stiles, I knew I’d miss the Texas Ranger stories. But the great news is that we will have both! By the way, a belated congratulations on your pronunciation of a difficult word from a previous podcast - the bacteria Escherichia coli in reference to the surgeon with meningitis with a near death experience. As a medical professional, I can attest that you got it right. Many of us take the easy way out and simply call it E. coli. But you nailed the full name!!

    Great Storytelling
Good stories and easy to listen to. Rangering is a good one. Kevin Sikes does a great job of narrating. Has a good cadence and it makes the listener feel as if they are in the old west. Keep up the good work!

    Essential- Sharing our heritage
The works shared with us by the whole 1001 Network are a wonderful collection of our cultural heritage. The 1001 Network aggregates a great many stories from our shared past. These stories are worth hearing and sharing. The efforts from Mr. Hagedorn are tremendous. Sharing these works, in these days, is essential. Thank You!!!
