dream1354Quick and captivatingThis well-written, well-acted radio play will keep you listening. The episodes are quick and captivating, and the sound mix could not be better. I could “see” every moment.

kristi821not your typical true crime podcastthis one is different, in a good way. it’s a dramatization of events. you feel like you’re listening to a movie. definitely a crazy story, and the way it’s told makes it feel like you’re living in it. very well done.
-
Al-RussWell DoneExcept voice acting, interesting story that was fast-paced and engaging, but wanted to hear more of the original and real discussions, good listen
-
JerdpaulPulp fiction? The most gratuitous amount of cursing I’ve ever heard in a podcast, totally unnecessary
-
P-Nutt_17Best so farThis podcast is by far the best true crime series that I came across. The voice actors all do an excellent job making the story come to life. I never knew this even happened in the 70’s. It was really intriguing.

FL CowgirlIf I could give 10 ⭐️’sExcellent! I love true crime genre but typically have not listened to re-enactments. Such a fascinating story and a beautiful time piece. Dark yet heartwarming. Feels so close to present day politics (sadly). We need to remember we’re all Americans and fellow men. Love it! Highly recommend!!

Fun1894EhHamm should stick to the Progressive scripts.
-
Rluna1@NYCThis was a fun ride.Wow! It was fascinating to know that this actually took place in history in the United States. Very creative and definitely engaging.

Racketeer Radio KFQXA Must Listen! Not only is the story right there but the voice actors are on point, the sounds, editing, effects everything is perfect! This just shows what is to come in the audio world!

Podcastboy223LOVED ITIncredible!!!
-
TooManyFruits100% 10/10I forgot I was running and ran 17 miles by the time the podcast finished. I’ve never ran 17 miles in my life, so that was cool. The story’s great too!

mikestaluthor17Gripping storytellingThis is a story that podcasts were made for. I absolutely loved the set up for how this real life event was told. And utilizing radio as a storytelling device within the podcast medium was perfection. The cast lead by Jon Hamm delivers knockout performances and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I love listening to the wrapup episode and finding out that the majority of the performances was recorded via zoom! From the writing to the direction and sound design, everything works so cohesively to deliver such a gripping storytelling experience. Congrats to all!

Chesstiger139OUTSTANDING!I had never heard of this event. I was very young when it took place, I am a big history buff and never came across this event. The ending I didn’t much like. It was a tad bit confusing to me. I do encourage all ears to listen to it. It is an excellent tale.

Paprat1234567890Perfect 🤩This deserves five stars!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Why is it getting any rating less than?! Crazy!
-
CrystalofbostonWhat a show!!!Dramatic, captivating, excellent story and superb performance! Hat’s off to the entire crew. Speaking of high quality podcast, WONDERY!
-
HerlichLoved the BTS episodeExcellent! Would recommend! Loved all of it except maybe the unnecessary voice over narration but otherwise fantastic! Dylan Baker was a particular favorite performance! Superb!
-
Beks HandyAmazing castThis was creatively done. I’m sad it’s over. This series has raised the bar for all future podcasts. Jon Hamm is amazing at his craft, as are the other voice actors.
-
Karlito3MediocreNot sure what all the hype was about. The story is boring, the voice acting is campy. Not great
-
mWf3205Fred HickmanAbsolutely fascinating! Very well done.
-
MIME202Loved thisCaptivating story, great voices. Really well produced. Can’t go wrong with Jon Hamm.
-
RinnieRiotVery entertaining!Very well written and performed, but I feel like there’s some crucial context missing.
-
jbieniekEdge of my seat! This podcast had me on the edge of my seat! Riveting, well done, and fascinating!!

Vantastic90One of my all time favoritesAn amazing true story brought to life. The voices and sound design, as well as the actual story keep you engaged through every episode. Must listen
-
Samantharae27DisappointingThe episodes are short but it’s engaging. Actors did a great job. Immersive podcasts are the best. However, the ending is abrupt and anticlimactic. The ending ruined the whole thing. It was a lot of build up to not much at all.

Jacquie1965A Throwback to Radio as EntertainmentThis podcast was amazing! I love the old radio shows where one had to use their imagination and the acting was so powerful, imagining the action was easy. I wish they do more. These actors were so passionate in their delivery. No CGI or suspenseful music to drive the story-pure art.
-
Jewels7783Happy I found this!It was a awesome show I looked forward to each episode coming out. It was amazing.
-
kclammVery good!Unexpectedly enjoyable. I love good fiction stories and this one is one of the good ones. The voice actors are actually good and I find myself getting lost in the story rather than feeling like I’m being read to. Something that doesn’t happen often with some of the storytelling podcasts.

Jonnyboi95Solid acting and great foley can't save this show from its own ideological vacuumThe closing line of the show is, verbatim: "For me, it took almost three full days of a hostage crisis to realize that America was the biggest hostage of them all." If that doesn't make your eyes roll straight back into your brain, maybe you will have a satisfying time with this show.

meriah osbornHappily unexpectedWhen I got bored of listening listening to the variety of other series I was listening to; I spent 20 minutes going through to find new shows to listen to while at work. I’ll admit artwork to a podcast truly draws me in but this time it was the description. Anyways, it was basically kick of the draw and I decided to listen to this. At first I was like “what the heck this isn’t a documentary”. So I almost changed it. But I stayed and listened for 19 more minutes. Now almost finished with the series I’m glad I listened. I also found out it was based on a true story which makes it more interesting. I just thought the writers and producers and anyone else on the team were truly amazing at what they do. Listening reminded me of my drama days back in highschool with visual theatre. Great job.

Observing the ChaosMonumental waste of timeOver produced, over dramatized. Drawn out waaaay too long. Just watch TV or listen to a book. I hate that all the dinosaur media think they need to ruin the podcast genre. If Jon Hamm’s name isn’t associated with this it never gets made. It never should have. Skip it and find something interested.

70 DudeHad potentialCompelling story but fell short in my opinion. I enjoy the format. Listen to 1865 if you enjoy the “radio play” format as well. These episodes were too short and perhaps I was too busy making dinner but the final episode was odd to me. Couldn’t understand exactly how things ended the way they did. Don’t want to spoil anything for others but this series really missed them mark for me.
-
TayKensSo Engaging!I don’t usually listen to “radio dramas” but this one was really engaging. I found myself getting completely engrossed in this story, so much so that I had to stop myself from looking this up online because I didn’t want to ruin the experience. Excellent acting all around. I truly enjoyed this podcast.
-
Roxy the mixerSpot on!!!I was a freshman in high school and lived right outside of Indianapolis. This was so spot on, especially Tony Kiritsis’s voice. Everyone was absolutely captivated and glued to every news cast, of course everyone had an opinion. I guess it was our first dose of reality TV.

Should've known....Not what I’d call a podcast….This was really more of an old radio serial broadcast, something from a 1930s variety hour. It’s not bad, but if you’re looking for a factual podcast on this incident, this isn’t it. It’s a play on the radio, complete with closing door and footstep sound effects, and melodramatic reading.
-
kayferguson13All the adsAmazon needs all these ads to pay for this??? There are podcasts with A+ acting & sound with zero ads. The future of podcasts are bleak indeed now that Amazon is in the door. 👎🏽
-
Jenniferocious19Episodes too short. This podcast is fine and engaging enough, but the episodes are ridiculously short. Look at the run time, then subtract TWO ad breaks with 2-3 ads each (one at the beginning and one in the middle- which I hate- completely breaks the immersion), also subtract beginning and end credits. Two episodes should really be combined into one. Having the story so fragmented really breaks the tension that they’re obviously trying to build, but I will never pay for a podcast just so I don’t have to wait. I expect better from wondry.

pamalama1965Love ItI am obsessed with podcasts and a friend of mine told me about this and as soon as she said Jon Hamm I was in! I like it a lot and since I am used to binging everything this is a bit different for me but I love it. The actor who portrays Tony is very good too. I can’t wait until the 19th to see how it ends. Thanks for making this wonderful podcast!
-
j emithPaywall,Great content; terrible voice over acting, worse ads, greedy model. Make you listen to ads, then block content behind a paywall. His isn’t cable TV. Get with the program like every other podcast on here. And pay some better voice over actors
-
Kik&DMovie for your ears!Amazing sound and acting quality.
-
sandyssonTony Tony TonyI’m sorry but it’s Tony for me . He’s fn hilarious you can tell they let the actor take it into his own hands for the most part and if ever word was written . Who ever playing Tony is crazy talented.
-
CTMoonshineOutstanding - Should Be A Series Or MovieThe story, acting, production was nothing short of amazing!
-
andrew.webberSales Ploy for WonderyThe first 6 Eps are free and then they charge you to finish the series!! Nice try…who cares how it ends!
-
Kadence404Disappointing6 episodes in and I’m so bored I just went online and read how the story ends so I don’t have to waste my time listening to the last 2 episodes. This would have been more enjoyable if they didn’t drag it out so long and include waaaay too much petty minutia. I’m honestly annoyed at myself for listening to it as long as I did since I wasn’t really enjoying it. Love John hamm, did not like this production.
-
BThompson2915Obsessed!I don’t usually listen to podcasts like this but I kept getting ads for it and I finally caved. I was obsessed from the first episode.
-
Johny1iCompelling episodes, but just too shortVery captivating story, but the 20 minute runtime of each episode is very disappointing. Amazon has the rest of the formula figured out with Jon Hamm’s distinctive voice and a strong storyline, but they need to take notes from Wondery and copy their 35-40 min durations.
-
YolandaMariIntenseFred went out of his way to help Tony even with his poor wife’s anxiety increasing. I think that the story was put out there in a great way. I feel like Fred is the main person who we should focus on. Tony lost his mind, but Fred showed the world that humanity is still out there. This was a great series. Thanks for sharing.
-
Rreed@0418Very GoodThis was so enjoyable! I hope that Jon Hamm will consider doing more radio shows like this!
-
Dan Greenfield/13th DimensionToo PaddedThe whole series could have been a compelling 1-hour episode, but it’s very stretched out.
-
Ones and Zeroes MotorsportsReally?Too short, the credits at the end are almost as long as each episode. Blatant money grab by making what should be 4 episodes into 8.
