StupidappstoreneedsanickBond Ladder vs Bond ETFThere is no difference if the rates are stable but consider this. Let’s say you need the money in 10 years. If you use ladder you never lose capital. If you buy let’s say 5yr or 10yr based funds and just before you sell your ETF, interests go up. ETF’s value should go down because it’s holding lots of bonds with bad terms. So you’ll lose as you sell. Obviously if the rates go down you’ll get extra money but the reason you buy bonds is predictably.
