I have been doing another app for learning German for an upcoming trip this summer. Christian’s mini grammer lessons fill in where the other app glosses over. I find if I only have fifteen minutes in a day to study, I prefer doing German Stories over the other app. I am so happy to have found this creator, and the podcast. I cannot recommend it enough as a primary or supplement to your learning German journey.

This is a great way to get exposure and learn languages especially with the few basics that I know. I also like that I can make it faster or slower!

I pay for another language teacher, Babbel, but I find myself gravitating to this one every day listening to it over and over. Of course, speaking the language is where I want to get proficiency in and I hope to book a few lessons with the teacher of this podcast. Take the first 10 lessons for free and use the workbook app they provide!

I am crossing from A.1 to A.2 and this is perfect - it makes the language real with the dialogue and the instructor provides full English translation once the episode has played, then explains the important lessons and clarifications aftwards. It is engaging, fun, and the dialogue is the right level for a beginner with a little experience.

The story is fun and engaging. Not boring at all! Lessons are bite-sized and easy to understand. Recommend!!

This podcast is a great supplement to other German Learning platforms, podcasts and programs. There are very few beginning podcasts - and this is one! The host - the main man - is goofy and so far (eight episodes in) has provided an engaging story line. I’m not confused about the verbs! But, I am confused that Paul is jealous of everything - Anna going shopping and Anna getting invited to the wedding - I’ll have to listen to more episodes!

I have a 1.5hr commute to and from work. Living in Georgia USA, I don’t have many German speakers that I can speak with. This podcast is played every morning and afternoon to keep my German interpretations tuned. Thanks for this awesome program!

I have really been enjoying this podcast, I’m a beginner and this has been great step to start it is so easy to listen and repeat it was exactly what I was looking for as a beginner.

I’ve been using Duolingo, Babbel+, and Coffee Break German to learn German. Once I found German-Stories, I was hooked! The web app is perfect for supplemental learning, and the podcast is fantastic to listen to! I always look forward to what happens next in the story!

I have studied several languages (Spanish, Urdu, Hindi, German) and this podcast is one of the very best resources I have found for language learning. He provides the perfect combination of challenge and explanation, with the audios followed by an easy sentence-by-sentence breakdown. It’s the perfect level for my German language learning needs and I’m sure it is going to help me pass a really important German test!

I love the idea of learning German through story. It puts the words into a vibrant context and brings it to life, and life is the point of languages in the first place. On top of this, the story is really well done. It is engaging, artistic, and funny. This is a great way to get my German skills back. I studied in Berlin some years back and this show is activating those times while also creating a future of German for me. My only wish is that it was still being made. Hopefully more is on the way, with more advanced language.

Simple to listen & repeat. Also, quick grammar (very brief & basic) are reviewed at end of each short episode.

I learned German 34 years ago,I am 54 years old now. I didn't use German languages for long time. Now using your podcast I am returning my german language. It is really excellent. If you could make your episodes in your site free of charge it would be a great help for learning. At least for people from third world countries or countries that they have bad economic sitations , or those who are under sanctions like Iran.I am Iranian and live in Tehran and because of sanctions and closed country we can not pay such payments. At the same time from bad economic situation our national money is very weak and we can not pay such amounts for learning a foreign language online. Our monthly salary is 150-200 Euros when it is not enough for living at all.But I respect you and appreciate your efforts for giving us such chance that we can use your podcasts free. Wonderful resource to sharpen your German listening and comprehension skills. The story is engaging and memorable. Grammar bits are very digestible, and the speaking section helps you remember little phrases effortlessly.

My favorite podcast. Meine Freundin is from Deutschland, and her parents don’t speak much English. When I was there for the holidays, I told her parents (and several of her friends) the story of Paul’s book, in Deutsch, at length, (including smaller details such as his amazing wallpaper). My girlfriend got very annoyed having to listen to the same story told over and over 7 times, but also mentioned that she was proud because my Deutsch sounded more coherent than ever. I also now feel an added motivation to really study the stories so that I can better inform my newfound audience about the newest developments in all things Paul. This has greatly improved my vocabulary retention. Not to mention it’s fun to see everyone’s reaction when an amateur Deutsch speaker asks them if they’re vorbestraft.

This is a refreshing way to refresh your German if you have a background of any kind. It is very interesting and less boring than many alternatives. I use it to learn German while I ride my peloton bike and exercise. It makes the time go by extremely quickly….the stores are actually interesting and have been written with some care, so enjoy this program!

This has been a very helpful part of my German learning! I am so glad I came across it! I was looking for slow German stories, most are not actually all that slow — this is a good pace and gives LOTS of help and teaching in each episode!!

I stumbled upon German Stories when I was searching for German music to supplement my study of German on Duolingo. I love the way German Stories allows you to hear real conversations and translations with the time to repeat what I hear in German. I also greatly appreciate the added grammar lessons at the end of each story to help explain why certain words are used and how, plus it review the verb conjugations! Thank you so much!

I highly recommend this podcast it has a short story I’m German at the beginning, and then a review and pronunciation of the phrases followed by a short grammar lesson. Very well organized, easy to follow, and educational!

I feel like most people with a long commute to work have a favorite podcast they listen to. With my interest in learning the German language, German stories quickly became my number one podcast. Even in my most tired and early morning groggy haze, German stories provides a fun exciting little story thats informational and gets my brain working. I love this podcast and listen every day on the way to work! I have listened to every episode and it has helped so much to not only learn new words but also how they are used in every day conversation. Even my German boyfriend says he is impressed! Haha

The title says it all. Fun story, well written with good long pauses in between to help you listen, repeat and hear yourself speak it. I had to slow down the conversations in German and write what I heard because I am clueless about spelling. I wonder if Christian will come out with lyrics or transcripts for the podcast so you can follow along with the spelling of the words whilst they are being said? Is that a thing? Anyways, keep up the good work and thank you.

I learned German many years ago in High School. This podcast has been great for re-learning to get ready for a trip to Germany this Fall. Danke Christian! Grammar lessons are great. Small lessons help me remember what I’m learning.

I started out on one of the “big language apps” which I really enjoy but felt stuck. Just repeating and getting new words but not understanding how it all fits together. Your stories followed by the grammar and vocabulary has been SO helpful. I have really started accelerating. The first few lessons turned on the lights for verbs and usage which is really important to me! I know I could conjugate just about any verb now. Having you actually explain the nuances of grammar and usage makes everything crystal clear. Once I got that, everything changed for me. I still use my language app for drill and practice but now it's just one of my tools in the box but german stories is my main resource now.

Small bite size episodes with plenty of slowed down explanations and remarks. I love the continuation of the story from episode to episode. I struggle understanding grammar and Christian does a great job of bringing my weak points to a higher level! Vielen Dank Tschüss!

I study German grammar by myself and from books but conversations are important to me; “German Stories” helps me understand the language better. Just to say that this german course is really what I was looking for many years, it is easy to understand and it is so funny the way they teach. Don’t you ever give up at learning new stuff.

I love the way the lessons are broken into different segments. Also, I can listen to the stories while driving to and from work and while doing chores around the house! It gives me much needed practical practice!
