Ta2002151-2-3-1-2-3My review for this podcast is way overdue. It’s incredible how Sally (and Eddie) always have the right things to say at the perfect moment. I saved episode 94 about the mental tools when the race gets tough for my 100 mile race this weekend. It was only 40 mins but how powerful! It’s been over a year since my last 100 miler and with my very “basic” training I knew I was gonna go to the pain cave sooner than later. I used all of them! But especially constantly repeated that I was capable and kept visualizing me crossing the finish line until I did!! 💪🏼 Oh! And I counted 1-2-3 a million times!! Thank you!!! Tania

Mimi in NYCThank you for showing how to choose strong!Dear Sally and Eddie, I just wanted to thank you for your podcast episodes and being who you are. I ran Revel Mt Charleston marathon today and got a massive PR and BQ!! It was very tough but I kept telling myself to “choose strong” and it helped me so much. I have listened to all your episodes and I also love your iFit series. Can’t wait to listen to the future episodes and learn about your adventures!

John BranscumAuthenticSally and Eddie have amazing and more importantly authentic chemistry on their show. I seek out content that I consider mental fuel and this podcast is my number one source for mental fuel. From encouraging advice as I train races to life issues we all deal with Sally and Eddie fill my cup with every episode.

Calli RapGame-changer for my running journeyI can’t say enough about how much this podcast has inspired me! It was the motivation I needed during my first trail race—the Mt. Hollywood 12K—where I kept Sally’s “Pass, gap, bury” mantra in my head the entire time. Not only did it push me to stay strong, but it helped me place first in my age group! This podcast has also given me the confidence to sign up for The Great Race Half Marathon, my first trail-heavy half. The insights, encouragement, and mindset shifts I’ve gained here have truly been a game-changer. If you’re looking for inspiration, whether for running or life in general, this is it!

G.MeisterGratitude and LoveComing off a really hard season of my life when I came across Sally on a Nick Bare Podcast episode. The gratitude I feel for having found the Choose Strong Podcast is invaluable. I’ve been struggling and battling with a lot of different demons in my closet, and Sally has pretty much reignited everything that I know to be important to me. I used to play women’s college basketball and have always been a gym rat. Therefore the hustle and grind has always been apart of my lifestyle, especially when I started running to fill the athlete void after graduating. That being said, this hard season has had an unexpected grasp on me. The words that Sally has to offer are incredible and allow me to know that you can always choose strong. With so much love and gratitude, G

T.A.B.J. 97Major help in my lifeTo make a long story short, I was in the military and in a dark place in my life. But hearing Sally and Eddy helped me through that time. Since leaving the service, I have since come out of that darkness, completed my first ultra (a 50 miler), and am here on earth to see my children and wife grow older. Thank you for all you do. God bless.
-
Captain HandsomeGreat for long runs! This is my new favorite podcast. Sally and Eddie are an awesome team. Really interesting and inspiring, but also super easy to listen to. Hard to comprehend the incredible toughness and athleticism that Sally continues to demonstrate in her career, but at the same time so relatable to all runners no matter the distance or speed. Thanks Sally and Eddie!
-
stmbtrunnergrlNew favorite podcast!I’m a huge fan of Sally and have always enjoyed hearing her on other podcasts. Her and Eddy’s relationship really make this podcast. The advice you get is great no matter whether you’re an ultra runner, fitness junkie, or just enjoy hearing about motivational stories.

sspappEpisode 64…. Wow!Somehow, l never hit the submit button the last time l wrote a review….like MONTHS AGO now! 😱…. Well, I’m still sending it; you guys deserve to know what a great job you do with putting out this podcast. Absolutely love it! 😊) : Yep! This episode sealed the deal…. Choose strong is HANDS DOWN my favorite ultrarunning pod! Even at over three hours long, l wasn’t bored AT ALL throughout the episode. Listening in actually just feels like you guys are good neighbors living across the street. I super look forward to listening to each episode, not just for the ultrarunning content (which l really enjoy following), but also for all the cool life lessons you share as you enjoy life together as a family. Thanks for sharing so much of your lives, AND for keeping the message family friendly and encouraging. All the best at Western States!

Hannah waskowBest podcast Ever!!I literally loveee your podcast so much!! I used to be a highschool runner, but now have seemed to loose consistency in training. I have been listening to your podcast since the beginning, but recently it has been instrumental in giving me the motivation I need to simply show up :) so thank you ;) Yall are the best:))

WillpowerwrightLove this podcast!Sally and Eddie are my favorites! I love hearing their race stories and interviews, and as an ultrarunner and new dad in my early 40s, I especially enjoy hearing how they navigate life together as busy parents and athletes. Thanks for building such an inspiring community and sharing so many valuable training and life tips. Hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving!

NaomiTimmSally is getting me excited to train again postpartum! This podcast has been great. I’m 9 months postpartum with my first child and this podcast is getting me excited to dream and train again for another race before hopefully getting pregnant again. Sally is so encouraging and the way she talks about running is making me excited to set a goal for a half marathon or 25k. My reward for completing will be her yellow runner hat, so Sally you gotta get those restocked on your website!! :)
-
sarahwhite93I thought my days of dreaming were overI was a professional ballet dancer for the last 11 years and was forced to retire due to my second pregnancy and being diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Postpartum I started running (never running before)and I ran a 50k in October this year. I have found so much comfort in how you live your life and your work ethic, because being a mom means your life just looks different. Thank you for continuing to inspire me and other runners! Please come to Duluth Minnesota to run the superior hiking trail!
-
ericfan.1Thank you for the encouragement!I have been running for 40 years and I love running or working out as I listen to you guys! As someone who has slowed down a lot in these elder years and maybe not felt good enough to compete anymore, I love your candid commentaries of your races. It really feels like I get to train and compete with you. Sally’s laugh and positivity and Eddie’s sense of humor get me to smile and just enjoy my workouts, grateful to still be moving!!! Thank you for helping all of us choose strong!!!

EMJohnston27The best of friends on solo runs!I have been listening to Sally and Eddie since January 2024 when I began training for my first 50 miler and now I am jumping into training for my first 100. The episode on fear and anxiety gave me goosebumps as I could relate to so much of what Sally was talking about. We live in an area with a high mountain lion population and the majority of my long runs were solo. I definitely had times where I would get that “eerie” feeling and turn around without any sort of explanation. Though I also would have times where I would fear going out solo, but I knew it was just me and I would get out and go and everything would go well. I really appreciated Sally and Eddie’s conversation surrounding fear and ways that help along the way. It made me feel not so alone with my fears when heading out on the trails. On another note, in general, Sally and Eddie are my company when out on a solo run. I love to run with others, but being newer to our community and operating around a toddler’s schedule means that my long runs happen when they happen. It is so nice to have Eddie and Sally in my ear and making me laugh when I have my treadmill runs and the runs around town (I don’t listen to anything on trails solo in my ears because of aforementioned mountain lions lol). Anyways, so grateful for Sally and Eddie when I’m running, mowing the lawn, unloading the dishwasher, or hitting the gym. Such a great conversation and just feels like sitting and listening to friends!

MEVDThanks for the real life advice and loveThank you Sally and Eddie for your candid comments! I’m so thankful for your cheerful hearts and yet real life talk. Feel the Love over the airwaves! All of your positiveness is keeping this small person going strong!😊
-
MTRN79Game ChangerThank you for your podcast, your advice and encouragement in running and in life. I listen on my long runs, use the app for training , sport the merch and strive to “choose strong” in all that I do. I love being strong and pushing myself toward new and bigger goals. I am a wife, mom , runner and a nurse that struggles to find time and energy. I have appreciated your positive input on real life and how you all have made things work even when it doesn’t look perfect. Thank you so much!!!

B ShaverSuch a BlessingI fell upon this love of trail running because of Sally. The podcast is sooo much more! I enjoy listening to all things Sally and Eddie and highly recommend everyone listen to these wonderful people! Laugh, cry, and everything in between! There isn’t a big enough KUDO to offer!
-
TN DaisyGreat Episode on Fear and AmxietyThis was one of the best episodes I’ve heard from Choose Strong! It’s reassuring to hear that everyone deals with some level of fear on the trail as well as fear related to setting big goals. I also absolutely loved hearing what’s in Sally’s pack! I backpack sections of the AT and am a wannabe runner. You guys are fun to listen to. Thanks for being a support to so many!

Doc QuixoteUltras and pure heartSpeaking to my legs, muscles, heart and laughing along through it. Sally and Eddie join us for the runs bringing the inspiration and amazing stories through trails, races, family and the many turns of life. Start listening now, get moving, reflect and laugh. I look forward the next episode.
-
runallthemilespetallthedogsEncouragedI have been a listener from the start and love the podcast. The humor and real life discussion has long been encouraging. This episode really landed as I hope to tackle trails beyond organized race events as I enter retirement. I also have a great “what might happen” imagination about life (yes it continues after your kids are adults and you add grandkids!) and about adventuring. Thanks for the great perspective in this episode!

The Trail ChickenFavorite running podcastI listen to this pod every long run. So encouraging, motivating, informative, and inspiring. I started running late in life (46 y/o; I could not even run around the block without an asthma attack). Now, at 54, I run 4x week and train for marathons. This pod keeps me motivated. Love the positive and strong vibe!

Appalachian AdventuristaUltra Running Cure to Post Trail DepressionYesterday I had the realization that I’ve been running for almost two decades (since I was ~9 years old). I’ve also always been a big hiker here in southern Appalachia. In my mid 20s, I took hiking to a new level and thought, ‘if I jog the downhills, I can do more mileage faster’ and started what I thought was an original concept of Run-Hiking longer distances. Flash forward and jokes on me, that’s just what ultra running is. Then, in 2023 I completed a thru hike of the Appalachian Trail (2,198.4 miles) - a lifelong dream. After the trail, there is this thing called Post Trail Depression which is a combination of the lack of endorphins, grief over the end of a major goal, and reverse culture shock coming back into a complicated society from living amongst the trees. I thought I was ready for it, but I wasn’t. For months, I had no motivation, and eating habits were hard to change from the eat-whatever-calories-you-can-even-that-skittle-in-the-dirt kinda lifestyle. One day in my couch slouch era, I stumbled upon Sally’s Yellow Runner YouTube channel and binged all her videos. That then introduced me to the Choose Strong podcast. Between those two channels, I found enough motivation to change out of my sweatpants and go back outside. This week I passed the one year anniversary of summiting Mt Katahdin (the northern terminus of the AT) and boy howdy am I in my feels. In the last year I completed my first official marathon, and am now training for a 200 mile relay, another marathon, and hopefully my first 100 miler next spring. I want to say thank you to both Sally and Eddie for acting like my goofy buddies encouraging me back out the door and helping me find my stride in this ultra running world I accidentally embarked upon. THANK YOU. -Aly (trail name: TC) IG&YT: @AppalachianAdventurista

tracker runnerNothing BetterThere is nothing better then heading out for a long run to find out that Sally and Eddie have recorded another podcast. It’s the highlight of my week. I love this podcast because I’m able to get lost in my run and connect with my BFFs. I know… sounds weird but that’s just how connected they make you feel. Thanks for being so real in this podcast. 💛💛💛

Ash_Bash143Blessed and Refreshed!I recently found you guys on Nick Bare’s podcast. I’ve been following BPN for the past year. I ran my very first 5K in April 2024, and I am not done yet! I have hopes to run a marathon soon been day, but listening to you guys makes me want to challenge myself to do ultra’s 👀 You guys have truly blessed me with what a reminder of how God has equipped us to conquer the lies of the enemy and to continue building community around us. When I first heard Sally speaking, there was just an awe and goodness to the way she speaks. And for some reason I couldn’t shake off of me that you knew who God was. Thank you for providing me with encouragement to keep choosing Strong and to be a light to those around me 🫶🏽

Starrynight1982Number 1 podcast to listen to!I first found Sally on YouTube and was so amazed at what she can endure. I started listening to the podcast this past year when I began my training for my first marathon and has helped me stay motivated to keep going and choose strong!!! Todays podcast about hit home about what is my Why and needed to remind myself why I chose to run a marathon to prove to myself that I can do it, after growing up not the most athletic or healthy. I started running about 7 years ago as a challenge with my best friend and it has mentally helped me get through some tough times. Running has helped me become stronger physically and mentally. Now I am 41 and am two weeks away from my first marathon and will have Sally and Eddies voices in my head to get through my 26 miles!

Pinkscience06Choose Strong Places 1st on the Podcast PodiumI listen to a lot of running podcasts. And while they are all great, Choose Strong is my favorite! I can always find inspiration, love, laughter, companionship, and motivation with Sally and Eddie. I listen while running, driving, working, cleaning, etc. whenever I feel like I need positivity and friends in my ear. My favorite time to listen is when I am driving to the trail for a daunting long run workout to get me pumped and in the right headspace! Thank you Eddie and Sally for producing such a great podcast and all that you do! You have helped me to progress in my running this year as I am working toward achieving my running goals. I attempted my first marathon in 2018 and DNF’d due to injury. With the injury and life I ended up not getting back to running until Feb of this year (2024). Every time I would try to run over the last 6 years I would still have knee pain from that injury. I saw Sally’s documentaries of the 200s last year and really became inspired to run again. And that led me to finding the podcast. Sally has a spark that is so motivating and inspiring. Even when I started running this year I was feeling that dreaded knee pain, but was determined to make running part of my life again. So I started slow and really focused on PT and strength training. Something I learned from Sally. I have been able to get back to running consistently without pain and I am in training for the Richmond marathon in November! I love that my volume is increasing month after month and I am feeling great. This is my come back year and I will finish the marathon this year!!! I PR’d in the half marathon distance yesterday and it felt amazing! I love running so much and aspire to go farther. I even signed up for my first 50k, so that will be my next goal after the marathon! I don’t think I would be where I am right now without my running community and Sally and Eddie on the Choose Strong podcast. I hope to meet y’all one day so I can thank you in person! 💛

Five (5) StartsDid we just become best friends?!!!!I have listen to lots of different podcast through the years, but I now have my favorite go to podcast! I have gone back to the first podcast and have listen to them all. I am so inspired not just to set bigger goals for running, but for life as well and I have to mention how funny Sally and Eddie are! ♥️ Please keep up the amazing work you two are doing! I am all in, I have the book, app and the merchandise 😆

OregonTessLCThank You Sally and Eddie! This is my favorite podcast to listen to on my way to an epic hike, or when I need a pick me up and some affirmation, or just a reminder that I can do hard things and there’s a community of people who are also striving to do hard, epic things. Sally always has helpful tidbits that I store away for when I need them. Eddie is the Kudos King and adds a great perspective. Highly recommend this podcast for all athletes, aspiring athletes, recovering from injury athletes, or anyone who just wants to finish their listen feeling inspired and empowered. Great stuff!

ZaClimaDynamic DuoEddie and Sally are the perfect combo, I don’t know who I could relate with more! I look forward to each episode, from Eddie’s ever changing goals, the updates on Sally’s races, the tips and tricks that relate to racing and everyday life, contagious laughter, and so much more. I know if I have a hard run or race on my hands I can count on you guys to get me through it. I recently recommended the crewing episode to my mother in law, who will be my crew chief at the Kodiak 100 mile race this October around Big Bear Lake, she loved it and has listened to it multiple times, even commenting to our family that will be joining that they need to listen to it also, and even just tried to Que up Sally’s famous laugh. Mega kudos to the both of you, also, totally looking forward to the days that I’ll be hurting myself trying to keep up with my daughters who have began running with me over the past year.

BillybthortonChoose Stong PodcastI recently discovered this podcast, and it's quickly become one of my favorites. I've dabbled in podcasts before, but none have kept me coming back like this one. I stumbled upon it after getting hooked on Sally's YouTube videos, and I've been an avid listener ever since. There's something special about this podcast—from the inviting intro music to the dynamic between hosts Sally and Eddie. They have a way of making you feel at ease, and the whole experience is just so calming. Whether I'm out for a run or driving, I find myself really enjoying each episode. Sally and Eddie, thank you!
-
Christian PeranziIt’s not about the running!Well, sometimes it is. This podcast is the perfect blend of running, relationships, personal growth and laughs. Sally and Eddie are an absolute match made in heaven and their willingness to be open and honest about life makes this show so relatable. Thank you for this amazing distraction during my runs! Yall are the best! Go Lumberjacks!
-
UltraMeganBest Training PartnersSally and Eddie are a delight to take with me on my training runs. They always show up, they make me laugh, cry, think deeply, inspire me to go one more. It feels like they are inviting me in to their lives sharing things that are important to them. Genuine and real that’s what I feel from the dynamic duo. Choose Strong!
-
msummererBy far, my fav podcastI’ve been a faithful listener for the past couple of years, and I still get so excited when a new episode drops. I listen while driving, running, or working, and I always look forward to my time with Sally and Eddy. I hear Sally’s encouraging words often in my day to day, and even conquered my first backyard ultra last year because I believed I could do a hard thing. I’ll continue to be a faithful listener, follower, and supporter - definitely my favorite podcast out there. Two of my best friends have started listening as well (because I don’t stop talking about how much I love this podcast!) in the past few months, and we love sharing how we’ve done a new hard thing or changed how we think about ourselves because of the positivity of this podcast. I can’t stop raving about Choose Strong - can’t stop, won’t stop! Thankful for pouring yourselves into your work. Your authenticity is evident in every episode.
-
Angela AwaldInspiration in my ears!Grateful and blessed! That’s how I feel about discovering the Choose Strong Podcast about a year ago. I’ve been inspired by Sally’s journey as an athlete, mom, and wife, as I build back fitness and chase big goals after having my 7th (bonus) baby at age 45. I can’t even tell you how many times I told myself to “choose strong” during a run or in the gym. Thanks to Sally and Eddie for being relatable and real and most of all inspiring! I don’t have a lot of time for podcasts these days but I always make time for this one. 💕
-
BudubadabaSally and Eddie are amazing!I listen to the podcast every day on my drive to work! Couldn’t think of a better way to pass the time.
-
EontherunAwesome for the whole family!I started listening to this podcast on long training runs and loved it, and quickly roped in my husband, telling him, “We could totally be friends with Sally and Eddie!” Then I found many of the episodes so inspiring that I shared them with my two young sons. Now we all enjoy listening and laughing, and being inspired together!
-
QueenChristine66Your life will be 1000x better with this podcast in it!Even if you don’t run, Sally & Eddie will lift your spirits and bring empowerment to your life. Sally, I’ve had a similar childhood to yours so to hear you overcome and break cycles is so heartwarming and it makes me cry. Sally & Eddie will only put GOOD habits in your life! No matter where you are in your life.
-
Askanja666piffl666Only podcast I listened to episodes more than onceIt’s been a year since I found Sally through her Cocodona documentary and I’m still just as amazed by her as I was a year ago. Over the last year the podcast has helped me tremendously to keep going, to push harder and to embrace the journey - all of it. As a recovering perfectionist this podcast has helped me to give myself more grace - yet keep me moving forward. I’m a homeschooling working mom to 3 boys and running is my therapy. Bringing Eddie and Sally along my runs is always a treat! Since there aren’t enough new episodes to keep up with my running time - I love going back to old ones and I always take something new away from it every time. The 200’s race recaps are my faves and were a huge part of prepping for my first ultra this spring! Please don’t ever stop Sally & Eddie!
-
Chelseamarie83Best all-around podcastI started listening to Sally’s podcast back in April. I was immediately drawn in by her energy, encouragement, and coaching advice. I’ve been a runner for many years, dating back to my high school cross country days in the late 90’s. One of my big goals for 2024 has been to run a 50k, for which I am now halfway through my training block. It’s never easy to find enough time to put in to training between raising 2 kids and working full time as a nurse practitioner, but Sally’s motivating phrases such as “something is better than nothing, done is better than perfect” have served as a reminder to keep doing the work, even if it’s not perfect. I appreciate what this podcast brings to the running and non-running communities alike. Thank you to Sally and Eddie for your ongoing positivity and motivation.
-
Joe GoettlStarting the day with positivity!Absolutely love this show! I’m a professional gravel cyclist/youtube creator and my wife works 60+ hours a week in retail and is training for her first marathon. The path we’ve chosen, reaching for our dreams, can be extremely overwhelming! I found this show last winter and have been working my way through ALL of the episodes, it is so helpful in keeping a positive mindset! My wife and I can relate to many of the challenges you’ve talked about on the show! I love listening to this in the mornings while doing dishes and cooking breakfast, and while I’m doing my gym workouts! Thank you! P.S. My wife and I both love the mango flavor BPN Go Gels!
-
AeireFavorite Podcast!!!Hi Eddie & Sally! I am a big fan of your podcast and everything you guys stand for! I recently listened to your Bend episode as I am training for my first 100-miler in 9 days in Bend!! I am running the Oregon Cascades 100 on August 24th which starts in Bend and runs through the Deschutes National Forest to Sisters. This dream to run a 100-miles started 3 years ago when I stumbled upon Nick Bare’s Leadville 100 video and learned about BPN which lead me to discover who you are! You have inspired me in so many ways and I can’t thank you enough 💛 Listening to the Bend story whilst on day 2 of my peak weekend run was a great reminder of just going for it, taking that leap of faith and trust that good things will happen! I will be keeping strength and joy in my heart as I race as a reminder to myself to always Choose Strong and to be grateful that I GET to do this! Thanks for being a light in this world 💛 (hopefully I can rock a Sturdy hat at the finish line!! 😁)
-
Amelia MadaraTransformative and Inspiring!I've always been intrigued by the idea of running, but it wasn't until I discovered the Stay Strong podcast that I found the motivation to actually lace up my shoes and hit the trail. The hosts' genuine passion for fitness and their practical advice on overcoming mental and physical barriers really struck a chord with me. Their encouragement gave me the push I needed to sign up for my first 10k trail run—a goal I never thought was within my reach. If you're looking for a podcast that not only inspires but also empowers you to take action, Stay Strong is it. I can't recommend it enough!
