I’m on the penultimate episode of Buffy, season 7 and am finally writing a review. The Boys bring hilarity, honesty, and play so well off of each other through the entire podcast. I think they give fair assessments of the characters and their commentary about the show’s absurdity just adds to the camp of the show. I also finished their Firefly series, and started watching Veronica Mars so I could listen to that podcast. Both of those are also great.

This is not my first Buffy or Veronica Mars podcast, but it is the first one where the hosts haven’t seen the show before which adds such a fun perspective. You can tell they love the show(s) and how much fun they’re having.

This is my 4th btvs rewatch with a podcast and this podcast intentionally brings a new perspective to the Buffyverse. It’s highly entertaining to hear them flabbergasted about the logic gaps but be reassured -they like the show! They built a great community on discord and it gets me thinking about perspectives I didn’t think about before. If you enjoyed the Big Bang theory ep where the ladies discuss the logic of Thor’s hammer, then this podcast is for you.

You guys are funny, smart, and snarky, and I love the way you point out the inconsistencies and ridiculousness the way I do, but Firefly itself just isn’t good. ( I know, I know. That’s heresy when you love Buffy. ) I’ve tried with Firefly many times and it just never worked for me. You guys are making it a little more palatable, but … Here’s my pitch: Do Riverdale next. You won’t be disappointed. It’s absolutely bonkers.

For 2 self-professed nitpickers, these two are highly entertaining and very funny. Sometimes I have nit-picks about their nit-picks, but, as they like to say “I like the show.” I also think they make some very good and insightful points, probably because they are nit-pickers, especially for two guys who are watching for the first time. I definitely look forward to watching each week. Thanks!

You guys have been amazing from the jump. Really going to miss you two talking about the show and being hypercritical of it. I know it’s all in good fun. Looking forward to what you do going forward. Now take a nap for about a week and cheers!

I am a 46 year old mom of two teenage boys who cringe at the fact that I not only am a huge Buffy fan but that I love it so much to rewatch all the episodes along side Joe and Vance. I LOVE the details, commentary and questions that are asked about characters and plot lines- legit laugh out loud moments. This podcast sweeps me back to the early 2000’s when I was crushing on Spike and would give anything to slay like Buffy. I have had so much fun listening to this podcast. I started when you guys were finishing season 3 and binged until I caught up. You guys got me through two pregnancies and now during my “nap time” down time and my drives to and from work. I am subscribed to Patreon and am on discord so it’s not good bye just yet! Love the podcast, love the Boys. I have laughed out loud so many times while driving, they’re a part of my morning routine and now I feel like I can’t even get going without them! Love the discord- even though I am not very active (sortasadmushroom). They are honest in their assessment of episodes and willing to be corrected/learn more. They’re hilarious and smart and THEY LIKE THE SHOW.

I’ve been watching Buffy since I was way too young, and I’ve been ripping through Buffy pods left and right. This is a really unique one because neither of the hosts have seen the show, so everything is new for them, which is really fun. They also have a Discord where their unhinged Buffy fanatic listeners like myself can chat! I give this pod five by five stakes!

I have been watching BTVS since I was teenager in the 90s. I have tried other Buffy podcasts but this is the best one. The Boys treat the show with respect and are interactive with their fans. I find myself silently agreeing with Vance(most of the time). It’s great!

I have been watching Buffy since day 1. The only one out of my friends and family (lol) so its nice to have a little community to be a part of! I have been really enjoying this podcast. Yes there are so many other Buffy podcasts but this one is no mess no fuss. I was into The Re-watcher but they are overly PC and overly trendy..but The Boys are refreshing by keeping it real and having fun with it. Loving the discord!! I’ve listened to multiple Buffy podcasts but this one is my favorite by far. The Boys provide a unique perspective that comes from what I consider to be an average person’s point of view. They call out the ridiculousness of the show…let’s be honest…it’s a show about vampires and demons. But they also give credit where it’s due and obviously love the show. The Boys make me laugh and lead me to think about the show in a way I hadn’t previously considered. I love everything about it!

Joe and Vance, I have to say this is my favorite Buffy podcast. I’ve tried listening to others but they seemed to bore me. I love that you guys BOTH haven’t watched the show before, I think that’s key because I really enjoy listening to your predictions and questions - how are you guys right most of the time?! For anyone unsure if this is just another Buffy podcast or something better - give it a listen you won’t be disappointed. Join the Discord as well, there’s a lot of funny and also serious discussions on there, and we can’t forget Joe’s Fashion Corner. They also have a Patreon watching Angel and it’s reasonably priced for anyone looking to listen to both at the same time! I’m so glad I found this podcast I listen to it everyday and I will be sad when it’s over but I’ll definitely be listening to your next projects!

Listening to these guys experience BTVS for the first time has been awesome! The predictions crack me up! And sometimes they are spot on. This is hands down the best Buffy podcast!!

Habitual rewatcher here and it has been an absolute delight listening to Joe & Vance discover the awesomeness that is BTVS. Hearing a new perspective makes a comfort show bright and shiny again. Shoutout to my sister who is always annoyingly right when it comes to my entertainment choices!

It’s so fun reliving the first-watch surprises in Buffy and Angel!

S1 was a bit flat (but so is buffyS1) but listening to these guys fall in love with the show is so satisfying!!!!! Love it!

Buffy is a my On Human Bondage (s.4 e.1), whether it’s a full blown rewatch, an episode here or there, or falling asleep to the show. Listening to the Boys share their predictions, opinions, and summaries is an amusing experience. My favorite parts are when Joe completely mis-summarizes a scene and Vance jumps in to clarify. It makes me laugh. I also laugh at their inability to remember it’s *Hostile* 17. Predictions are eerily accurate. I like Joe and Vance and am so close to signing up for the Patreon. I need to hear what they have to say about Angel! Cheers, guys!

What makes this podcast stand out from all of the other Buffy podcasts is that neither of these guys has ever watched Buffy before. So instead of listening to the same old stories we’ve all heard before, we get to listen to two people who are watching Buffy for the first time. The boys are hilarious and insightful. I love their predictions and I look forward to listening to new episodes of this podcast each week.

I’ve gotta start with the fact that I’ve been watching this since episode 3….and am just now writing a review. Sorry! But I am so addicted!! I need background noise to concentrate on tasks, so I use your podcast to help me stay productive. I’ve relistened to the whole series so far at least 3 times. I heard about BWB late last year, and binged 5+ seasons in about a month. I listen to what some may consider an unhealthy number of Buffy podcasts, and this one is in my top two! The boys consistently make me laugh out loud in my car (or at my desk at work,) and they also occasionally make points about the show that I have never thought of before. A must for any Buffy die-hard

I love the experience of slowly hearing someone fall in love with a show I’ve loved for decades! That and hearing brand new perspectives that I assumed wasn’t possible to do after having watched the show dozens of times before.

This is such a fun podcast. I listen at work and it makes my day so much better.

Admittedly I’m only 8 episodes in but as a diehard Buffy fan, I am hooked. This is my 3rd Buffy podcast and I am enjoying the commentary from two new viewers. The play by play is fun and always seems to make me laugh. I thoroughly enjoy their criticisms, their surprise at the twists, and their often wrong (sometimes so right) stabs at future episodes. I can’t wait to hear their reactions to future episodes.

Having seen the show before, and also listening to The Rewatcher, I am really enjoying listening to the both of you watch for the first time.. most of my work day is listening and commenting back on the things you get wrong (sooo fun) and the guesses as to how that world works!! I don’t know these lads, but I’m so glad I found them. These dudes say some of the things my partner and I said last year when we watched the show for the first time, the early mention of flatlining to get more slayers comes to mind 😂 I love Buffy, I love this show. I have watched BTVS more times than I can count. I watched it when it first came out, as a teenager, I’ve watched it a bunch as a young adult and even now in my mid 30s, I still watch it. It’s one of those shows I can put on whenever I want to zone out, so I’m very familiar with it and have a lot of emotions tied to it… which also makes me incredibly biased! I have a very liberal suspension of disbelief when it comes to Buffy. I stumbled on this podcast and I have really enjoyed listening to not only first time watchers, but adult men commenting on all the silly things that I choose to ignore. It’s kind of like I’ve found a new way to watch Buffy, to realize (and acknowledge) some of just the crazy plot armor tactics and logistical improbabilities; it’s cool to hear a brand new perspective. Also, as someone who knows what’s going to happen, I’m so excited for the Boys and when they discover an answer to their question, prediction or theory! Id definitely suggest this podcast to anyone who loves Buffy. Also, with their Discord discussion, it’s really cool to interact with other fans, and you can definitely tell the Boys LIKE THE SHOW!! :)

This is the podcast I recommend to all my Buffy friends. Rewatching with the boys is the closest thing I’ve experienced to watching the show again for the first time. Also, the community that’s grown from the pod is the best Buddy community around right now. Everyone is super friendly and respectful. Keep on rocking, boys!

I’m a huge Buffy fan, and have watched it so many times all the way through. It’s great in so many ways. Hearing these guy’s analysis of each episode is freaking perfect. So many times I can’t stop laughing. It’s fun to hear the camp stuff about the show poked at and pulled apart. It’s not a thing the fandom brings up, it’s selectively ignored, which is okay. But oh man, this podcast is freaking great.

I discovered this podcast about a month ago and have been BINGING it ever since. I’m a few episodes into their season five episodes (following along with the Boys Watching Angel episodes too), and I’m still here, everyone. The guys are funny, and even though they roast the show quite a bit, you can tell they’re enjoying it, and I think the episodes are more fun than those of The Rewatcher.

Joe and Vance have been such a delight to listen to over the last five seasons. They have super interesting discussions about both Buffy and Angel, with a level of depth that reflects their enjoyment of both shows. They analyze the shows with a great deal of knowledge about how TV shows are written, produced, directed, and performed, and have real insight on the episodes they review. A lot of podcasts will just be like “I loved this episode!” or “I hate this character,” but Joe and Vance have much more to say, explaining why certain plot points don’t work or why certain jokes are so funny. They can speak to every element of the show, from special effects to sound mixing to costumes to cinematography to music. Even as someone who has watched the show multiple times, I’m constantly surprised by their observations and the smart things they have to say. On top of that, Joe and Vance are just effortlessly hilarious in how they discuss the show, always making the most obscure (yet apropos) reference to something in pop culture. They also do a great job of engaging with their fans, always happy to talk to or passionately debate people on their Discord. They even have a “corrections and omissions” section for fans to point out errors from their podcast, something others hosts might be too proud or too indifferent to have. But Joe and Vance are always happy to be corrected by a fan, no matter how small. Tuesday is my favorite day of the week because of this podcast. I’m so excited to hear their thoughts on these last few seasons.

I was listening to another Buffy podcast and on the Facebook group they recommended Boys Watching Buffy. And OMG I’m so glad I listened. Joe and Vance make me crack up every episode and I find myself so excited to hear their reactions to big moments I know are coming. I drank the kool aid so hard I joined Patreon and may rewatch Angel to follow along with them! Such a great listen for any Buffy fan!

Boys Watching Buffy is hilarious. It took me a couple of episodes to come to grips that you weren’t teens during the late 90’s and were definitely not teenage girls. I will not take points away from your awesomeness. I appreciate your hard work in doing a super fun show. The predictions are a key piece that are surprisingly more spot on than you think- no spoilers. Keep up the good work. I’m late finding this podcast. I’m listening to The Zeppo right now. I love Buffy (and Angel) and watched the shows when they were on TV, have the DVDs that I watched several times and watched them on Prime and Hulu. I’m a Buffy-verse addict. I’m totally with it.

I am a mega Buffy fan and while the show is very near and dear to me, I know it is completely silly at times. You can tell the hosts are definitely having fun making jokes about some of the Buffy ridiculousness, but they are also enjoying their watching experience. They will poke fun at the flaws, but will also praise storyline, acting, fashion and direction. I also think they are really respectful to the Buffy fan base (and respectful to their own podcast followers). I can’t wait to hear them get through the next few seasons!
