    Love the New Format!
Long time listener of Leslie’s original podcast, but Marianne is a perfect co-host! I am a total fanboy of hers and a fellow Anglophile—OMG what a pair you two make! I truly love the new show. I laugh so hard with every episode!

    Disappointed
I do not like the “devil's advocate” non-native plant perspective in the last episode. I don't believe any kind of gardening is good. It’s not a good thing to plant invasives or plants that need to be maintained. We die, move, etc, but they usually don't. We often can't retain them for *their* lifetimes. Do I make mistakes? Yes. Do I have exotics? Yes, I do. But it's a process, and when we know better, we do better. It's not about religiosity or ideology, and it’s not problematic to say that native plants are better on multiple levels. Indeed, invasive plants are a problem. A “both sides” approach to this is ridiculous. My little creek has non-native sweet peas everywhere. I think people would plant them less if they were more aware. It's not shaming people to state that planting invasive plants contributes to the problem. If you want to plant them after knowing that I can't stop you, I don't have to avoid the facts or pretend it's all the same for someone else's benefit. All gardens and gardeners should try to do their best to prevent this. I listen to podcasts to learn more about ecology. Full stop. People listening to podcasts likely are more interested in native gardens and ecology because they want to know! They are not just looking for the most beautiful buildings to purchase and put on the ground. I haven't stopped listening yet, but it might not be a good fit.

    Gardening as a Business
Wow, I really loved this talk - I’m a master gardener starting a job maintaining a residential garden this spring. I’m excited to get started, making a little money doing what I love, and this podcast helped me realize the importance of being punctual and organized, even though it’s just “a little job!” Maybe it will lead to other opportunities - I will be listening to this one again!

    Love this gardening podcast!
Leslie is very knowledgeable about all things annual, perennial and shrub gardening! Even though I garden in Kansas City, her information is almost always pertinent. She is always fresh and enthusiastic. She does a good interview and I’ve started following other gardeners that she likes on Instagram. Thanks, Leslie

    Hoos in the garden!
So glad I found this podcast from a fellow UVA alumna gardening in my locale! I look forward to each episode and always enjoy the conversations with interesting and knowledgeable guests, referrals for other good podcasts, and of course hearing about what Leslie is up to. Thank you Leslie!

Great overall podcast for everyone who gardens
I’m a regular listener and a retired garden designer. I find the podcasts interesting and engaging, and Leslie is very down to earth. I like that she often shares what is going on in her own gardening life. Gardening can be tough, and Leslie is a good resource, especially for those new to gardening.

Listening to Leslie’s podcast is like chatting with my best friend who is as crazy about gardening as I am. I always learn something new, and she reignites my passion for plants with every episode.

    Informative
Leslie totally takes you into the garden of gardening with interviews of great knowledgeable people. The podcast has several sections so one can listen to the sections as time allows. She is funny and underlines the freedom of being you as a gardener. After listening each episode I feel nourished in my hunger to learn more from other gardeners, landscape designers, botanists, horticulturalists, writers.

    Quality podcasts
Leslie’s podcasts are extremely well planned, succinct and full of substance. Her format contains quality information relevant to all levels of gardeners and regardless of where anyone gardens. The only drawback is that it isn’t weekly. Linda Mayer

    Always learn something new
Let’s start with I love listening to Leslie’s voice, and we all know how important the person’s voice is when it comes to anything that we are listening to. Also, I love her humor and she’s always teaching me something new in the garden. I love that each podcast episode is not just one topic but she touches on lots of different topics within an episode. It keeps me entertained.

So much honest passion, honest conversation, and honest education!
I thoroughly enjoy Leslie’s podcasts. What started out as a way to pass the time for a 1 hour work commute has turned into my continuous dose of green thumb knowledge. I get so much out of each and every episode. After being in our newest garden for over 8 years, it’s refreshing to hear fellow gardeners talk the talk and walk the walk! Thank you Leslie! ❤️

    FUN-FUN-FUN
I have always loved to garden, indoors and out, but have also been endlessly frustrated by the uglies, the dead and the ‘holes’. Now with Leslie’s podcast readily available, it all becomes a fun adventure; who cares what others see, really, it’s what I like and want to explore. Seeing the shapes, colors and textures mingle and show off their capabilities, especially to entice me more into their tendrils, branches even thorns, is what her podcast has done for me and I love it. Leslie has great, knowledgeable guests join her and she has very pertinent questions for them, even bringing up touchy subjects at times - like chemicals - but only to give us another perspective, as garden knowledge is meant to be! Thank you Leslie and I’m happy for you to go every other week, but also selfishly sad. Kaki PS I first listened to this podcast from the beginning and now I search for the month or plant I need help with = ideal!

    NO CHEMICALS UESED!
Just redid flower bed. 1st: Weed Wacked. 2nd Brown Wrapping Paper down. 3rd: Wet. 4th: Spread Mulch. 5th: Wait 3 days then plant. Took 2 hours. Photos on facebook & instagram.

    Interesting, informative & invigorating!
I adore Into the Garden. I stumbled upon this podcast earlier this year as I was searching for podcasts related to Longwood Gardens during my short road trip that way for this year’s Blue Poppies. Karl Gercens was easily one of my favorite podcast interviewees I’ve ever had the pleasure of listening to! Leslie does a fantastic job of asking well thought out and provoking questions to dig deep into her guests, their interests and expertise. Since listening to that episode I have been an avid listener! I enjoy this podcast immensely! It helps me learn, gives me new ideas and inspires me to do more in my own garden. I also love her descriptions. As a macro photographer whose primary subject is plants, I’m always looking for aesthetically interesting plants to capture! Also, as as aspiring Master Gardener (I begin my classes this fall), I greatly appreciate her use of botanical names in addition to the common ones. I’m not too far from her so hopefully one day I can journey up to her garden and maybe even capture some photographs! Thank you for a great listen Leslie!

    Garden inspiration!!!!
I discovered Leslie’s “Into the Garden” only a couple of months ago. I LOVE this podcast. So informative in a light fun way. Leslie knows so much but will say when she doesn’t or will tell something she is not good at or plants she doesn’t do well with. She makes you feel like you are getting tips from a fellow gardening friend. Such an enjoyable podcast. I have been putteri g around my yard for 15 years doing basic landscaping because I cannot afford to have it professionally done. Now I am working on my backyard and listening to this podcast makes me feel like I can do it even though I am a novice. I listen to several podcasts regularly none of them about gardening. But this one I make sure to listen to when I can relax and soak it all in. Such a pleasure!!!

    Lovely Leslie
I am fortunate to live in the same area as Leslie. It’s beyond fun hearing about her disasters and victories that we also have been through. Her quick witted humor, Horticultural or otherwise, make me laugh out loud. She’s knowledgeable and a SUPER interviewer that allows her guests to speak. Could there be a “funner “ podcast?! And most importantly, having lived on the same property for 40 years, we can attest to the scary fact that we have witnessed great losses in bird and insect populations. But! As luck would have it my husband and I (Saint Andrew) were mentored early on by a gentleman who espoused native’s so we can proudly say our property (80% native) is an oasis for birds and insects who song and presence is lacking in our neighborhood that is mostly lawn. He also taught us “mulch is for paths, leaves are for on your garden. Hats off to Leslie for putting out the word on using leaves and natives and speaking for those creatures that have no voice. Oh and yes, I LOVE my host as and lace cap hydrangeas. I wish you were on everyday!

    Our favorite podcast!
Long time fans of Leslie’s IG account, we look forward to this podcast every week. We are pretty experienced gardeners but we learn new things every week. LH is hilarious, practical, and hosts fascinating guests. Countless times, we’ve listened to her show and gone outside and tackled a new project.

One of the best gardening podcasts!
I recently got bit by the gardening bug. I have been reading and listening to podcasts about how to garden. This is one of my favorites. From the intro music, to sound quality, to interesting guests, this is by far, one of the best podcasts I’ve come across. I’ve learned so much.

    Finally!
Finally, a podcast that is realistic about gardening for the typical, amateur gardener. This podcast makes me feel like I’m strolling with Leslie in my garden while she gives me useful tips and encouragement. I like Leslie’s pace and diversity of discussions, especially her acknowledgement of what doesn’t work in the garden. This podcast should inspire folks to take up the wonderful world of garden!

    Fun and informative
I have been listening from the start. Being a avid podcast listener I don’t waste my time on crudely done, non informative podcasts. Listening to Leslie is like talking with a friend. I appreciate that she doesn’t pretend to know everything.
  • Lorrainepaints
One of the best gardening podcasts
Leslie is great! She is humble, knowledgeable and kind. I really find that I don’t enjoy podcasts with boring, arrogant hosts or loud bumper music. She gives credit where due and admits her weaknesses. I will listen to her as long as she is doing podcasts. Lorraine in western, Washington, Zone 8b

    Into the Garden with Leslie
I love this podcast, Into the Garden with Leslie, because it is so informative. Leslie is encouraging and non-intimidating. She shares her successes and ways to cope with gardening challenges. She encourages listeners to experiment and not to feel badly if some plants perish. She has a wealth of knowledge and interviews great guests. It’s a good resource for novices like myself as well as expert gardeners. Thanks, Sheila

    Interesting and fun!
I found this podcast via fine gardening’s podcast and I really like it. I have just about gone back and listened to all of them. I like it because I am learning about plants/shrubs/trees that I don’t necessarily hear about on other shows. Plus Leslie’s sense of humor is in synch with mine.

    I don’t even garden!
I don’t have much of an interest in gardening (terrified of creepy crawlers) but I like learning about different kinds of plants. Leslie is light hearted and informative. She makes me feel like I’m right there in her garden.
