Vincentboy27Feelin understoodI cannot say enough about Andrea, the host of this podcast....she's so down to earth, to the point, intelligent and, funny. I finally feel understood, and, like I'm not the only one who is 54 years old, feeling inside as though I'm 15! Inner child, good ol inner child. Being here with Andrea, and, her guests, really helps me to realize we're all a work in progress, we are all striving to be our best self. I love all of the episodes, i take away so much from listening. Andrea....thank you so much for being you, and for putting the topics out there, that really need to be brought to light.

adultchildpodcastFinally taking my own adviceIf I’m gonna beg for 5-star reviews every episode, it felt wrong to not contribute to the cause. This podcast is changing lives (mine included), and I say that as the emotionally wounded mastermind behind it.

KnottwolaytNewly FoundA fellow ACA traveler told me about this podcast and I listened the my first one about people pleasing. It validated a few insights I have had recently including not being ashamed of leaving AA at 18+ years sober because I was in a different place. I am coming up on my sobriety date and will have 21 years sober. It’s time to work on my issues as an adult child. I am 65 and it isn’t too late.

BMTHTMBReally bad showThe host seems to not take CPTSD as a serious diagnosis, rather as a fun, quirky thing to have. She doesn’t seem to really understand complex topics related to trauma and CPTSD, pushes pop psychology narratives, and seems to have super rigid beliefs about CPTSD that sound like what a teenager on TikTok who doesn’t understand trauma or their condition would say. She asks ridiculous questions to professionals who seem annoyed to have their time wasted like this. She seems to only want to have her own narratives confirmed and isn’t interested in the reality of CPTSD, people’s experiences, research, etc.

KatieLumanThank you!I just recently discovered Andrea’s (Not ONdrea) podcast. I am several episodes in and am loving it. I am a licensed therapist and work with a lot of ACOAs. It is obvious she has done and is continuing to do her own work and Im grateful she is putting this out into the world for others to hear!

LackingStorageListen to the first episodesNot gonna lie this pod has really shifted something in me. It’s the first thing I have dove into on this topic and it’s the reason for the stars. This work matters but this may not be our best option. I started at episode 1, I’m on episode 26 and I’m done. I kept noticing her lack of privilege in this recovery world and 25 episodes in and it just doesn’t seem to provide an inclusive space. I also find her to be flippant with a lot of the guests during their moments of vulnerability. Yes this work matters. But if you value inclusivity and acknowledgement of privilege, I advise to look elsewhere.

Beaonca WardGreat show!Adult child offers highly informative yet relatable content for those of us who did not have healthy examples of family and relationships. Andrea and her guests offer thought provoking and bold accounts of their life experiences to provide a source of inspiration. One thing that sets this show apart is the humor that is sprinkled throughout the episodes to add a lighthearted and welcoming atmosphere so you are excited to listen to the episodes rather than feeling overwhelmed consuming more content

FellowTraveler1971Thank you Andrea!Clear and direct advice for ACA recovery. Andrea’s ability to explain the effects of CPTSD in simple language that is relatable is so helpful to my recovery work. I really appreciate her sharing her own journey and normalizing this hard work and giving real examples of tools that help with recovery. Enjoy your break Andrea - so well deserved and helpful for me to hear too! We’ll be here for you in 2025 and beyond!
-
AudreyC..Great show for healingGreat weekly listen with many expert guests specializing in trauma. Andrea is as real as it gets! Very helpful and insightful podcast for anyone with childhood trauma looking to heal and become part of an authentic supportive community.
-
wendypeanutBetter than my ACA MeetingAndrea is golden. I learn more here than re-reading the laundry list and rules of ACA over and over at meetings. Thank you!!

Shelissa JeanI’m so happy I found this podcast!I came across this podcast probably a month ago. I’ve continued listening and every episode has given me so much insight. I’m 35 years old and have once again started my healing journey and I’m always looking for more information on healing, trauma, inner child healing, recovery etc etc and I’m just so grateful for this podcast♥️♥️♥️Thank you for starting this podcast because the world needs it, so many people need it & I 100% need it. Thank you a million times over! 💖

Quint J ShawA place of concern?I think the podcast is worth a listen. I would urge caution in joining the community. The host allows crosstalk during meetings and I have seen people ( who were sharing their personal journeys of healing ) being made fun of with others during meetings both in that person’s presence and in their absence. I say listen to the podcast as there are good guests, but go to ACA world service organization to find official meetings. They are free and systems are set up in place, including a group conscience and agreed upon rules, so that more harm isn’t caused to people seeking help. If ACA meetings have a fee and aren’t listed on the official website, they are not ACA.

SiouxnameeGreat show but community may not be for everyoneThis show has helped me a lot and has lead me down so many profound healing experiences and positive changes. I really appreciate Andrea and the work she’s doing. However I will caution those that tend to get lost in a crowd or become “invisible” that the paid community may not be for you. I’ve been ignored (probably unintentionally) by Andrea on multiple occasions when trying to participate and it made me feel awful. I know she’s also an adult child and a human being, and I also came here for healing, not to be treated like that by the very community that promised to accept and include me. I’m no longer a community member but I will continue to listen and support the show from “afar”.
-
Roachie24thank youDon’t want to say this podcast saved my life but when I hear the opening music I know I’m not alone anymore. Others have been confronted with the question “at what point did you realize your childhood messed you up more than you thought?” 24 years sober and relate so much. Thank you Andrea!
-
OddomissionEpisode 131Listening to episode 131 and wow, I’m hearing more notification bells and dings than actual discussion. Can’t you and the guest agree to silence your phones during discussion? Also your use of expletives takes away from the discussion and makes you seem more like a pre-teen who just found out about swear words.
-
Jeseca713So much informationThis podcast makes information available adult children who are recovering, but also doing life in today’s nonstop world. Thank you Andrea. You have helped me more than I can express.🤗

grumpy mountainbikerMy AHA! Moment happened this week!Thank you, Andrea! Found you this week, I’m poring through the old episodes. Already so grateful for your hard work, and excited to finally understand this fight instead of just swinging blindly in the dark. I relate to you in SO MANY WAYS.

Trish A H JAmazing PODI’m just love this podcast. The speakers she gets are amazing and the host is an excellent interviewer. Been listening for almost a year. I get so many resources, tips and a better understanding of how to navigate life on so many levels. Lots of humor. There is also an online community option that is super affordable. It includes 4 interactive meetings a week and a real time chat feature for support from the other members. Best resource I have found in nearly 40 years of different forms of recovery. My only regret it not finding it sooner.

With love<33333Show feedbackAs a fellow Adult Child, Andrea, I say this in all love: You get INCREDIBLE speakers on your show, but you interrupt and speak over them, so we don’t get all that we could from them. I fear you will stop getting such amazing speakers because they won’t want to do a podcast with you. You also act like a know-it-all, which is not helpful. You don’t need to impress anyone, we love you just as you are and are so grateful for you. Ask good questions, then get out of the way! Thank you for making this show, it means more than you know to so many people. Keep going!
-
DmareeHYour conversations saved my lifeI can across this podcast when I thought I was beyond help. Andrea’s conversations continuously show me evidence and research that I not only not alone, but there are ways to heal. Thank you a million times over. My whole family benefits from what I’ve learned here, and as a parent, I lean on this podcast to help me understand myself and do better with my own child. 🫶 you are a gift

ArrestDevGreat guests—but the host makes me go elsewhereI really enjoy the content and guests. They are knowledgeable and share relevant and interesting information. There is an opportunity to learn and develop some skills. But—the host makes it difficult to make it through an episode. I get so distracted I tend to have to abandon the episodes. I try a new episode and the same thing happens. I would love alternative hosts. The current host lacks the professional speaking experience I prefer when listening to serious content. The current host uses uptalk, filler words such as repeating the word “like” and “um”, forgets what they are saying, frequently interrupts guests with vapid contributions, and uses uptalk. They would greatly benefit from a voice coach to help them deliver with more professionalism.
-
MeowmasteHost is annoyingThe host constantly rudely interrupts guests during interviews and EATS during the podcast. Zero manners!
-
jcufufufifThank you!Thank you so much for making this podcast, I had never heard the term adult child until your podcast. I have been listening ever since and you have helped me soooo much on my healing journey. Thank you Andrea!!

RaretaylorSo helpful! This show helped me get through a very painful Father’s Day and I’ve continued to listen! The material is so real and healing.

nikkkkkkole92Great show!Stumbled upon by accident and staying. Very helpful.

wyhomingnanceEpisode #105Great episode Andrea. Thanks to your members for being brave and vulnerable. It’s very hard to get past the “My moms a narcissist” or “ I married a narcissist”. Thanks for address this “ eye rolling” subject.
-
MoMo BurgerStellar, encouraging insights and support!I love Andrea and her ability to share her real-ness in a podcast that brings together people that seek healing from trauma, confusion, harmful choices and lack of balance due to dysfunction. Her spirit sings through the truths and educational discussions she shares with her guests and listeners alike, purveys a platform for positive change and shows what strength in vulnerability looks (sounds?) like. I can’t speak highly enough of all the benefit I personally have reaped from this show, let alone the entertainment value, the sense of belonging and the wisdom to start my own journey in letting go of broken emotional modalities. Andrea is truly a gem in a world of darkness. No excuses, no pretenses, no falsehoods here- you will love this show and our sweet host! Thanks girlie!!

VikamakaNavigating the Pitfalls of People-PleasingIn the latest episode of the Adult Child podcast, hosts delve into the complex world of people-pleasing, offering listeners a profound exploration of this common struggle within the ACA community. With a blend of personal anecdotes, expert insights, and practical advice, this episode shines a spotlight on the pervasive impact of people-pleasing tendencies on individuals in recovery.

mam72130Trauma education gold!I have been listing for about 6 months now and I can’t say enough good things about this show. I am in the mental health field and have been so impressed with the professionals interviewed and the content presented. This show has helped me in my own healing journey from family dysfunction and complex trauma.

rjtorres95This is my most listened to podcastThis podcast really allowed me to put names to things that I’ve experienced throughout my life. It gave me the courage to finally explore avenues of support and prime literature to further my journey when away from therapy. Keep it up, Andrea.
-
Twin laneLoveAs an adult child myself I get so much out of this podcast! Highly recommend! Cool!
-
shylocksaysRequestAndrea, please stop interjecting jokes and comments when the guest is sharing a serious story-mutual joking /shared dark humor to cope is one thing, the interrupting (ie “snitches get stitches” as someone shared about being violently assaulted to the point of a broken nose) with meaningless jokes/comments are distracting and irritating and to me, feel disrespectful (though I fully believe that is not your intent!). Feels like the jokes and comments are occurring so much lately.
-
getittogether3Good content but frustratingI enjoyed the content but found myself getting frustrated with the host interrupting the guest.
-
