I listen to podcasts all the time. What I like most about Jason Johnson is the question method. He adds thought provoking questions, not just .. What’s your name? What you selling? What’s your Twitter handle? His subjects may not seem mainstream, but after he addresses a topic, he explores its affect on society as a whole. I look forward to every episode.

First, love your commentary! Enjoy listening to you filling in for Joy Reid! The episode with Michael Harriot, was very interesting and spoke a lot of truth. I don’t want to label someone with lazy journalism but the valid point of not checking conservatives when they speak out of tone, because the hosts don’t know how to check them or hold them accountable for the things they say. Great point!!!!

If you want to know the truth about anything, jason johnson will deliver. whenever i hear that someone is having jason johnson on a show, I always check it out because i know it will be informative.

I frequently need to take my time with these episodes to really process the conversations. They are deep and engaging topics that aren’t the typical “Black” or African American targeted topics. Thank you for seeing more of our community

Jason, I’ve been a listener since the beginning and your recent podcast (about the white evangelical racism) was one of the best. My reason is that for years (even before ‘45’) that this type of racist behavior has been going on. I witnessed this during Obama’s second term, which a lot of my colleagues exposed themselves with their bigotry and racism, and cloak it with the words of the Bible. It also was very difficult to share this with my siblings that are older than myself. They refused to believe that whites would be racists and carry a bible and quote scriptures. I’m in my early 60’s and it was a challenge even when they do see it. I would hear excuses and always the phrase “I’ll be praying for them”. I do know that prayer changes but you have to be aware of the enemy at all times. Even now, which they’re walking in plain sight and no hoods. Please continue the good work. Joseph Hodge

I’ve been a huge fan of both Jason Johnson and his guest, Anthea Butler since I was first introduced to their work via Karen Hunter. So happy to discover this podcast. The topics and guests are so on point, I only wish that the episodes were longer.

I’ve been a fan of Mr. Johnson’s commentary from his days at The Root to his MSNBC gig. To discover this Pod on Slate just speaks to it’s quality. Covering politics, Black issues, celebrity culture and countless other topics, he keeps it engaging, thought provoking and fun! My only complaint? Make the pod longer. 👏

I am a fan of Dr. Johnson’s work on MSNBC and I am a fan of his podcast. I enjoy listening to him and his guests discuss timely topics.

As someone who has loved Dr. Johnson on MSNBC and Twitter I really appreciate his new podcast.

Have very much enjoyed each episode and find myself looking forward to listening each interview. Wide ranging topics, great conversations.

Seems like a good show. I was hoping that this first show would discuss Mike Pesca’s cancellation. That didn’t happen. Maybe next show? C’mon Slate - bring Mike back - or, at the very least, engage in an open discussion of what, exactly, his “crimes” are. Seems like the PERFECT topic for this show, no?

On the very first episode I was able to apply what I learned to a very difficult work situation. I was changed by it.

Every five minutes, he has to say “A Word with Jason Johnson”. Another person trying to get into podcasting who doesn’t understand the difference from radio. Or just doesn’t know what he is doing generally. Hopefully it will get better. Definitely has potential.
