Huberman Lab discusses neuroscience — how our brain and its connections with the organs of our body control our perceptions, our behaviors, and our health. We also discuss existing and emerging tools for measuring and changing how our nervous system works.Andrew Huberman, Ph.D., is a neuroscientist and tenured professor in the department of neurobiology, and by courtesy, psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Stanford School of Medicine. He has made numerous significant contributions to the fields of brain development, brain function and neural plasticity, which is the ability of our nervous system to rewire and learn new behaviors, skills and cognitive functioning. Huberman is a McKnight Foundation and Pew Foundation Fellow and was awarded the Cogan Award, given to the scientist making the most significant discoveries in the study of vision, in 2017. His lab’s most recent work focuses on the influence of vision and respiration on human performance and brain states such as fear and courage. He also works on neural regeneration and directs a clinical trial to promote visual restoration in diseases that cause blindness. Huberman is also actively involved in developing tools now in use by the elite military in the U.S. and Canada, athletes, and technology industries to optimize performance in high stress environments, enhance neural plasticity, mitigate stress and optimize sleep.  Work from the Huberman Laboratory at Stanford School of Medicine has been published in top journals including Nature, Science and Cell and has been featured in TIME, BBC, Scientific American, Discover and other top media outlets. In 2021, Dr. Huberman launched the Huberman Lab podcast. The podcast is frequently ranked in the top 5 of all podcasts globally and is often ranked #1 in the categories of Science, Education, and Health & Fitness.

    Thank You!!!
Thank you Andrew for educating and enlightening us all on so many helpful topics! Knowledge is power and you are helping to equip us all so we are able to make empowered decisions to improve our lives and our health. I can’t recommend this podcast enough!! Andrew takes complex subjects and breaks them down so they are easy to understand and digestible.

    Decent listen but rambles
I’ve listened to a few episodes now from the start of the pod to latest ones. they are all the same for the most part and that is nice. However the Dr does double speak a few times every transition and that shots get a bit annoying. Say you’ll cover it later and be done. Don’t say it, justify it and then say it again and explain it before not saying it….see it’s all over the place. But the core message is there and from a fellow in the industry it is on point with what I’m seeing in the Midwest and it’s nice to hear others experience(s) with multifaceted approaches to health (whole health)

Love the content, but what about women?
I LOVE how thorough, well-researched, and nuanced this podcast is. BUT, the only reason I give it 4 stars, is that for some reason research pertaining specifically to women is almost never mentioned. It surprises me, given the in depth nature of the podcast. For example, intermittent fasting is brought up ALL THE TIME, but not once have I heard him mention the research showing that women react differently to IF than men do. IF can wreak havoc on a woman's cycle/hormone balance. It seems like a pretty glaring oversight not to mention that in a 3 hour interview about fasting. I have no idea if this is unintentional or what - he seems like a very careful, thoughtful guy. I don't get it!

    Back again
I listened to Dr. Huberman a while back and I stopped because I felt he was being influenced by industry, conventional medicine and the Ivory Towers of our major Teaching Hospitals. Recently, I listened to a podcast with Dr. Huberman and Dr. Jack Kruse and I was very impressed with his openness to listen, learn and potentially share other opinions from doctors and researchers who do not have conflicts of interest.

    The Right One
Learned about Andrew Huberman on a blind date about a year ago . The date went no where but this podcast has quite literally changed my life. I am healthier from morning to evening. I understand my body and my physiology in a way I never have.Thank you Dr. Huberman. Marina New York , NY

    Excellent content
Needs better preparation. Too many uhms. What happened to panel with Brian Johnson and Peter Attia for a paper review on liver supplements.

    King of Yapping
Podcasts are too long, speaks outside areas of expertise and gives tons of misinformation. Unrelated anecdotes about his life (as a troubled youth/ skateboarder?) throughout podcast giving guests little room to talk. Peddles supplements and “protocols” with little scientific research throughout podcast. Has anyone seen any proof of him being a skateboarder or troubled youth? He really tries to push this persona, when he was, in fact, just any other nepo baby.

    Thanks Mr. Huberman!
This is by far the most personally impactful podcast of my life even though I’ve never listened to a complete episode. A friend recommended it years ago, and I found it far to specific and dry, but kept subscribed because it seemed useful. My husband and I were trying to have a baby for some time, and it was puzzling because we were overall pretty healthy and the medical system was slow and frustrating: a few tests took months to schedule and the results came back with an apathetic shrug and no insight or advice. Then the episode on male fertility came out- I scanned the chapter titles- and listened in on what seemed relevant. My husband loves hot baths and saunas, and I shared the info on how that might be our fertility culprit. He abstained for three months, as the episode instructed, and we were shocked and elated when after three months I was suddenly pregnant! As I write this, we have a beautiful four month old baby girl! Anyone can go ahead and dunk on the host’s personal life or troll on out of context clips on Twitter- I am forever grateful that you have made this high quality medical information available. Thank you to everyone who works on this podcast I am eternally grateful!

    Amazing Science Backed Information
Amazing content. Amazing guest. Extremely helpful information. My favorite episodes are the guest series with Matt Walker.

Loved the episode with Dr. Casey Means
Great conversation! Love the practical and simple actions we can take that she shared!

    Phenomenal podcast

    Great episode on metabolism
I’ve been a listener since day one and have found so many episodes helpful but this one is at the top! Dr. Means is clear and her examples easy to understand. I particularly enjoyed the exchange about pharmacy and food industry’s effect on the obesity epidemic. It would be great to see a show on medical ethics as it pertains to the results of studies . Again, thank you for all you do Dr. huberman! I am a pediatrician and routinely put links to episodes in my advice to teens .

Thank you for your podcast- we have all learned so much and appreciate Andrew and all the work you do!

    I enjoy this podcast
So I have to confess I’m a casual listener to this podcast. I always enjoy it when I do. It often givrs me new insights and or knowledge . The actual reason for writing this review is because of the silly outrage over his private life. It appeared to me to be of a consensual nature. So…you go!

Thank you so much for all you teach us.
Having been an insomniac for many decades, your insight and prescription for achieving better sleep has been spot on in my case. I cannot thank you enough your recommendation early morning sunlight and before bed, taking one capsule each L-Theanine and Apigenin. (Double Wood Supplements). I sleep so much more and better. No other Dr. ever mentioned the necessity of light to the brain; it is astonishing all you know and how effective your podcast is to help people, especially, elderly with autoimmune deficits. Thank you for your time and, work. and clean broadcast in correct English. I am in my late seventies and old fashioned; respect is essential for attention. Ann Purdy Dear Dr. Huberman, I am 78 years old and can’t see small. I don’t know how to subscribe to anything; I am rubbish about all things internet, no social media. Where may I find transcripts of your wonderful Scientific podcasts? I did not have much science when I was young and you have taught me so much, I am very grateful. If your office could send a Postal address to write to you, I would send money to pay for a years’ subscription. I need pen and paper to keep up and understand your teachings, SO, I DEEPLY APPRECIATE MY ABILITY TO BACK UP YOUR RECORDINGS. Thanks so much!🙏🏻💖👩🏼‍🦳

    Superior information
I’ve been listening for a couple years. Tons of excellent help. Thank you for this information.

    Please stick to your expertise!
I am confident you are very knowledgeable in neurobiology and ophthalmology. However, your understanding of basic pain management is not only incorrect but often harmful by encouraging fear avoidance. The back pain episode is filled with inaccuracies and debunked theories. A basic literature search would contradict many of the “disc bulging” and “nerve crunching” fear mongering statements. Please please please stick to your field of expertise!! I’m tired of de-escalating my patients anxieties after they listen to your poorly studied episodes. Thank you :)

    AMAZING!
I can’t say enough about Dr. Huberman and his podcast. I’ve told everyone I know and meet about this podcast. It’s an unparalleled wealth of factual information and it’s helped expand my knowledge/awareness during the most difficult time of my 52 years. There are far too many people who use their social media platform for personal gain through dissemination of outright inaccurate and/or harmful information. Unfortunately for us all, some people believe those bad actors. Dr. Huberman is someone in which we can have 100% confidence.

    silly hit peices

    Series on sleep
My daughter recommended your podcast on sleep. I learned so much. Now I feel I have some control over my sleep and some strategies I can use when I can’t sleep. I enjoy your discussion because you really listen to each other and let each other talk without interrupting. I think I also learned how to have a discussion after listening to your podcasts. 👍

    Hubrisman, Grifter Extraordinaire
As a practicing clinical psychiatrist, my lay patients have referenced this podcast as the basis for many unfounded ideas about neuropsychiatry and drug mechanisms. I have found his presentations misleading, oversimplifying, and self-serving. Eat studies don’t count, and the transitive property does not apply. And, since reading the NY Mag article…well, it seems the idols have feet of clay.
  • klairecee
Kind of interesting, but not always factual
I liked this podcast at first, but then started noticing inconsistencies. The host says things with confidence, but those things are often not true (they’re just hypotheses, or opinions). Also, on a recent episode, I heard him interrupt the female guest scientist multiple times to finish her thought for her, as if it were his own. Just kinda gross and rude.

    Mind and Body Optimizing
I found you on IG and quickly moved to a premium subscription to get all the science and transcripts for the protocols on the many subjects you discuss that are dear to my heart ! As a professional in healthcare I share so much info as well as teach many more people about you and your platforms . I am obsessed with your pod and all the topics on cutting edge science broken down to easily understand in layman's terms . I personally love the deep dives in all your subjects , expanding my knowledge on longevity with emphasis on quality over quantity . We all need you and the insight you bring from all the guests as well as your own vast knowledge of neurobiology and ophthalmology. Sleep and your recent series with Mathew is so unbelievably interesting and I listen a minimum of twice each to really parce out and focus on , I feel THE most important factor affecting every system of our bodies healing mechanisms . Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your diligence in unpacking all the pertinent info and your questions to your guests , and all your wonderful AMA’s , one day I want to be there to hear you in person but until then you have a lifelong student .

    Love long format
So many great topics. I enjoy the long format! I usually devour a full episode in one pass but will happily parse it in sections if need be. Keep up the great work, Andrew! I’ve been listening for about one year and you’re still offering great topics. Thank you:)
  • zubarsky
    Not great.
I am amazed at how often I hear basic high school level biology mistakes on this show. One example. Energy is not released when chemical bonds are broken. Heard this said twice. Studies are often referred to as fact. No mention on if the studies were peer reviewed. Or what journal they are published in.

Misogynistic narcissist posing as a sensitive new age man
Do your research on this guy before taking his word. Scientifically he’s got a very narrow scope of expertise (yet spouts ‘truths’ that aren’t proven). And he’s a manipulative misogynist. Get started by reading up on him in NY Magazine March 25, 2024.

Silent killer the medical community and Insurance companies abuse
Osteoporosis . I wish you would “dig into” this please. The drugs are dictated by the insurance companies who control the doctors . VERY FEW if not any medical doctors will take the time to really guide patients through it. It’s fast food medicine dictated by Insurance companies and the patients pay for insurance all their lives and then get turned down when Doctors recommend some better medications and the insurance want you follow STEP or “fail” in some cheaper drug first. But , once the cheaper one size fits all drug is in you for example a bisphosphonate, it ‘ s to late .

    Dude is a grifting grifter
Read up about this dude- he's Rogan for wanna-be health/psych nuts. Misinformation abounds. Listen if you must but with a critical ear. Better yet, skip completely.

I like the sleep episodes recently.
The guest series is so great, I’m listening to it for fun because it’s so interesting as much as I’m curious about helping my sleep. It would be interesting to see what Dr. Walker thinks about the people who have gotten world records by going without sleep for 10+ days.🤯

So much practical knowledge, so precise
Just scratching the surface, but thanks to Huberman Lab , I am more in tune with my dopamine escapism, trying to lean more in to the joy hard problem solving work brings. And the goal setting toolkit helps me be aware of the middle problem to better chop up those hard problems. Especially since, wow, our posture to stress, affects our action orientation to it. I can speak to practicing strategic sunlight exposure to help with sleep initiation too and countless other insights, but in summary I am endlessly grateful for all of this. Thank you!

    Parenting Podcast
Wow! Fantastic podcast. Really wish this had been available when we were raising our kids. But will pass it on to our kids for their children. And should provide interesting conversation to see what our children will change in their parenting vs how we parented them. Also - I’m sure we had one “deeply feeling”child! Thank you.

I got enough (formerly, I can’t get enough)
Fascinating topics and guests. Scientific but easy to understand with metaphors and explanations. Great wealth of free science knowledge from top minds! Update: don’t buy AG-1 from this guy. Take what serves you and leave the rest. Pay attention to whose credentials are relevant and who are just speaking anecdotally and acting like experts. I stopped following this guy after the infamous article. How you do anything is how you do everything. He lacks integrity and respect for others.

    Circuitous, Long…so long!
I listened to several episodes. I found them way too long. I couldn’t tell you what the point of any one of them were because they were so long and circuitous, nothing ‘took’. There was probably something in there that would have told me why! I also found the recording of it to be abrasive - just the sound quality, cadence, voice, etc., not really enjoyable. Perhaps that too is why nothing really stuck. Also, the quantity of commercial interruptions...yikes! I’ll be hunting for his ideas in some other format.
  • Broncocacher

Yes, episodes are long. However they are informative and well researched.
