There is a lot of French content for beginning learners and for advanced French speakers, but as an intermediate student of French, it’s much harder to find content to help me improve my listening comprehension. Most material is either far too easy/basic or far too advanced for my level. This podcast is perfect. The topics and vocabulary are “advanced” enough to be interesting, but the host speaks slowly and clearly so that I can actually understand. Her explanations/definitions of French words in French are excellent and really help me to follow along, while not breaking into English. Perfect!

Listening to this podcast is the most fun I have had learning French. Nagisa does a wonderful job creating fun, captivating recordings on highly varied and interesting subjects. The podcast is thoughtfully structured to make it easy to practice listening comprehension skills.

This is the absolute best French learner podcast. Extremely helpful and just the right pace. The host is engaging and her personality comes through beautifully.

I just started listening and as an intermediate level French learner I’m blown away by how accessible this is— I’ve tried other means of practicing my listening skills but the slow pace and pronunciation, as well as the repetition, really really helps, and I feel like I can get a lot more on the first try than I usually do. I think this is my favorite podcast, it’s so pleasant to listen to. I don’t speak any French but I really enjoy getting to listen and follow along with the scripts, picking up bits and pieces as I go. Nagisa’s speech has such a melodic quality to it, what a gift..

I’m a Spanish teacher and a lifelong student of French. Nagisa explains just enough in English to make this podcast very comprehensible for intermediate French students. She speaks slowly in the first part of the podcast and then repeats everything at normal speed. I’ve really improved my listening skills with this method!

I love this French Podcast. I was looking for some slowly spoken French for a while and I’m glad I found it. Slow spoken language is a very good way to learn for me. That’s how I learned to understand English when I came to the US from Germany: I listened to Garrison Keillor's APHC and his Lake Wobegon Stories. There was no German in between, but I always read the transcript and could easily figure everything out. The little English in this Podcast is fine, not too much, just the right amount. In general I hate switching back and forth too much between languages. The fast summery is also very helpful, but sometimes still hard to get every word.

The pace is great for my intermediate level of speech and understanding. I also love the occasional break into English to define an unusual or topic-specific term. And the topics are interesting too!

The topics, the real interest of the host, the writing, the tone and pacing of the presentation… What a really strong package. What a great learning tool. Thank you so much for this.

First of all, I truly appreciate the time and effort put in to offer the podcasts and transcripts for free!🤗 The podcasts usually are more than 5 minutes of content, so there is plenty of vocabulary and grammar to utilize. They are great learning tools that I use to improve my understanding of French! For anyone to rate these podcasts with less than 3 stars, are really grouchy people who feel entitled to everything😒 It is a great balance for intermediate French learners, especially with occasional English interjected to explain from time to time. Not everyone understands every word spoken, so it is definitely helpful. Thank you!!!

You pause too much to translate A-level vocab and takes away the immersive experience. Please just put the vocab at the end and make it an optional review tool. Context goes a long way and part of learning French is practicing deducing meaning from context which we can’t do if you constantly interrupt to explain in English. Could be great but the format needs to change.

C’est très bien le contenu, mais moi je dirais qu’il faudrait séparer la version rapide de celle lente, pour que ceux qui n’ont pas besoin d’écouter cette dernière puisse juste profiter de la première. Je trouve les contenus très intéressants par contre.

C’est mon podcast de français par excellence ! For me (intermediate level with a background in Spanish), it’s the perfect ratio of mostly French (very useful French!) to English explanations. Thank you!!

Nagisa has the clearest voice and diction of any French podcaster I’ve listened to. Her adaptations to intermediate learners is very effective. She addresses a variety of subjects to help with vocabulary.

Love these little talks. The latest episodes with the repeating passages and increasing speed of speaking are especially good. The speed of native French sounds so fast to me that I basically miss everything. Listening to a few sentences at a slower speed, then listening to them at a faster clip is fun. I can almost imagine a world where I could understand native speakers! Thanks for making this podcast, super grateful.

After trying a few different methods, i came upon this podcast. My French was decent 35 years ago but haven’t used it recently so wanted to review before an upcoming trip. I am just in awe not only of her skill with language and method, but how broad her knowledge of diverse interesting subjects is! Worth the Patreon subscription for that alone. Merci mille fois!

This podcast is exactly what I’ve been looking for. It is written extremely well, and the pace is perfect. I like the way the narrator inserts English, this is very helpful. I am so happy to find this!

She does a great job of making the input comprehensible. Even as a beginner, I can understand just enough to follow along! Love the challenge of her fast repetitions. Some episodes are more interesting to me than others, but she always does a great job presenting.

I've just discovered little talk in the last few weeks and I'm really delighting in it. It's improving my vocabulary, I really appreciate the cultural context as well as the definitions, and I think my French is improving!

I love this podcasts. I appreciate the fact that she adds context and explanation in English without overdoing it. I am learning French without getting bored or feeling like the subject matter is too simple for me. These are subjects that I am inherently interested in hearing discussed rather than another podcast about ordering food at a restaurant. Keep it up! The mix of French and English is perfect!

I am using Comprehensible Input to acquire languages. This would be an excellent podcast except for the constant breaks to explain in English. With a brief glossed vocabulary list and a transcript even early intermediate learners would be much better off without the English.

I am really enjoying these both the little nuances and secrets of actual French AND the ASMR feeling of the voice. I love your voice.

I absolutely love the content and thoroughness of this podcast! The explanations of phrases that aren’t necessarily intuitive are so helpful. I just wish there was less bass or something in the sound. She sounds just a bit dampened or muffled or something when you compare with other podcasts. I far prefer the sound quality when she’s interviewing people on the street even though there’s background noise, as compared to when she’s just recording herself.

This is great listening practice and almost exactly what I was looking for. My only complaint is that the host pauses to translate into English too frequently. I prefer to listen and try to understand new words through context, then look at a vocab list or review, rather than having them translated for me right away. Otherwise a great learning tool!

Just wish there were more.

I have listened to what feels like dozens of French language learning podcasts and I always come back to this one because it’s the best. I love the topics, speed, tone - all of it! The hostess’ voice is super soothing as well. This podcast is a gift!

This is SUCH a great podcast for those of us learning French! I love how the host consistently adds context in English, so that those of us listening never feel completely out of the loop, and have an easier time following along. Plus, the topics covered are really great! Have recommended to many friends, and will continue to do so! Side note for the host: some of the earlier episodes I listened to and enjoyed, like the one on the Eiffel Tower, are now missing? Hopefully they will return soon! I enjoy re-listening to them, as I understand more and more each time! Thank you!!
