    Disappointed
I’ve heard James Rogers speak at length and in depth about an array of historical events, he’s brilliant and capable of painting a vivid picture with words wether it’s just him speaking or even in an interview. This feels like a “History for Dummies” type format. It’s just such a waste of his intellect.

    Excellent podcast
The fact that some of the only negative reviews are written by idiots who think Hitler was “left-wing” and have their knickers in a wad that the podcast rightly identifies fascism as right-wing ideology should tell you all you need to know. Accurate history that has the benefit of annoying modern day fascist fanboys.

Great radio! Fantastic episode! There is only but a few things more entertaining than listening to the predictions of a charlatans after the facts. Keep it up

    This Is Not Honest History
In no way can James Rogers be classified as a “fellow historian.” His episodes are one-sided, only bringing his own viewpoint to the forefront. Not only are they biased, but information is incomplete and, at times, flat out inaccurate. For instance, an “expert” claiming that Marxism is a well thought out system and hinted at being preferable to what was actually instituted at the time. Worse yet, continuing the claim that Hitler’s ideology was right wing. Hitler’s ideology was cobbled out of classic left wing idea’s, from the time. The “expert” on that episode conveniently left out famous figures like Margaret Sanger (founder of Planned Parenthood) and how her ideas of race eugenics were rapidly spreading across academic circles, and quickly embraced. Hitler didn’t invent that. Shameful.

    Too Many Inaccurate Claims
This podcast allows guests to make inaccurate claims without challenge. Tying returning GIs from World War II to George Floyd was pretty shameless.

    Highly educational
This is a wonderful podcast that takes you through poignant historical events and the people, places and times that shaped history

    Godspeed James!
Sorry I forgot to review you earlier. Sadly, the podcast is ending, but luckily for anyone just finding it now, you’ve just stumbled onto one of the best history podcasts available. James, your energy, passion, and experience show through in every episode, and it was a real pleasure to listen to you host, present, and insightfully interview guests. You will be missed dearly by this listener, but best of luck to you, and welcome to the United States! We’re happy to have you!

    Sorry to see you go
I just heard your announcement that there will be no more new episodes. I’ll miss the podcast, which is interesting & informative, but I understand that there are more important things in life than producing a podcast. I wish you the best in your future endeavors & your growing family.

    Disappointed in this podcast
I have tried and tried to like this podcast, but I just can’t do it anymore. The host let’s his liberal bias get in the way of the facts way to many times, plus the guests he has on only reinforced his views on the subjects. Also having spent a very long time in the military I can say with absolute certainty that lots of his facts are wrong. If all your looking for is a liberal egghead view of warfare and politics then this is the show for you, but if you’re really looking for facts and an unbiased view then I would look somewhere else. As much as the host hates the US I am not really sure why he is moving here.

    Mainstream
Singular perspective view on events. Follows liberal US mainstream talking points. Doesn’t question anything in any meaningful way despite cautioned interjections.
  • AloofGoose
    Interesting podcast. Heavy western bias
Engaging analysis of warfare and history, but more current coverage (like ukraine) lacks nuance and toes the western establishment line. Would be interesting to see more willingness to work through your bias and provide a more complete analysis of such conflicts.

    Good show
Good show about cluster munitions The Lady on your show talking about the subject Would change her mind if she was on front lines Watching a massive enemy attack coming towards her Just like my stepfather talking about Napam in Korea Watching thousands of communists soldiers charging down a mountain side towards his Marine fighting hole Watched Navy planes drop napalm bombs Stopping the enemy from overrunning his position He told me "I would have hugged those Navy pilots "

    Warfare?
I don’t even know why this podcast is called “Warfare” many of the topics have little or nothing to do with warfare or military history.
  • jlevesque
    Fantastic!
This podcast goes out of its way to bring you so many lesser known stories from our world’s greatest wars. I was especially keen to hear the episode about Icelandic vessel, Goðafoss. 💙💙

    Amazing podcast five stars
This podcast is very interesting and informative. I do also love how the guests are qualified and knowledgeable people who can entertain us the viewers with true and interesting information. Would recommend this to anyone who would want to delve deeply into the many different topics watergate can bring.

I like like this podcast and have learned some interesting things over the last year and a half. Listening to subject historians on certain things like this podcast is set up to do, gives it depth. I just get a little annoyed at the “know it all” attitude of the host. It’s almost like he’s trying to impress or show off his knowledge of the subject to subject matter experts. His questions are always lined up the same. He tells a tidbit of off, little known, obscure, information, goes off about how it affects things that have nothing to do with the subject, then asks the question. I feel like the historians sometimes are taken aback or have to orient themselves to answer the question. The host also subtlety puts everything in a left leaning, liberal lens. Infusing his own politics to the subject which almost seems like he’s trying to change public perception of the subject or orient it to his way of looking at it. I believe history should be shown for what it is. Not politicized any which way.

    Take requests?
Enjoy the show. Am reading Business of War by David Parrott. Would be interested in hearing an interview with him regarding the use of mercenary forces during the early modern European period. Have a great day! Thanks!

Wannabe imposter pretending to be historian
Lost all respect within <10 seconds, when the host referred to “July 6th, 1944” as the date of Normandy landings. Unbelievable. Host’s voice had all the emotion and passion of a bored librarian reading a phone book. Utter waste of time - why listen to an idiot who can’t even bother to double check his plagiarized-from-Wikipedia script.

I love the podcast! The topic selection is CHOICE 👌👌 I’ve enjoyed many hours of listening to James chat it up with some real knowledgeable people!!

    Good podcast
I wish there was more content on Ukraine.

    Woke PC Historical Revisionists Podcast
Most podcasts discuss historical events through the rigid wooden vernacular of contemporary Neo-Marxist Woke PC revisionism most commonly found within the privileged and protected ivory towers of academia. As such, they dare not discuss the often times fascinating intricacies of a historical military event that may deviate, even slightly from the approved narrative.

    Midway
Boring and banal. You will learn that 1 knowing, through broken code, what the other navy is planning, is good; 2 knowing that information is not useful unless communicated to your navy 3 people are needed to know and communicate 4 some people are male and some people are female. The host appears to be astonished with the above revelations. Pity the poor guest…pity the listener.

    Timely historic background
Excellent history podcast that invites historians for short discussions. Some episodes give historic background to current events. Others share the stories of incredible, little-known historic events. I was completely hooked by the British Resistance in WW2 episodes and now excitedly moving through the back catalog. Thanks for this excellent show!
  • Jules5168
    Please no apologists
The Patron episode was painful - the casual, repeated tossing around of Lost Cause mythology and brusque slavery dismissals… yikes. You really should have pressed your guest on this - do better please.
  • Zblue420
    Eh
I like the subjects and the actual history is decent. Having said that the India-Pakistan episode was the worst interview I’ve ever heard on a history podcast. Full of falsehoods like the climate hoax. Fact is we name more hurricanes now then 100 years ago because we didn’t have radar then and we weren’t naming hurricanes in the middle of the ocean that never land on American shores.. damage from storms monetarily and loss of life has greatly decreased over time. And how the interviewee is too busy pushing political narratives to believe anything his says… it’s just disappointing that we can’t learn about historical events without leftists punching you in the nuggets…

Aug 18 ep can’t figure out what it’s about
7 minutes in and i have zero idea what your even talking about. Skipping this episode sorry.

Great info but dedicated to attacking anybody with a differing political viewpoint
Great info but Controlled by hardcore liberals who take every opportunity to twist history around to attack the right. One thing that historians have to deal with often in ancient sources is political bias and they have to see through it to get to the truth. It’s a shame that we still have to deal with that today.

I can’t thank you enough for making us privy to all this information. Bravo.

    Perfect for Military History Buffs
Episodes are just the right length and the interviews and guests are great. Focuses on not just British military history, but US and others too. I learn so much from this great podcast!
  • Mr. Buster!
    Ukrainian backdrop
the episode on the 2014 Ukrainian Revolution is fascinating and sobering. Many single episodes are fascinating and sobering in the way that the Forgotten Wars Podcast is sobering when a whole season on the Boer Wars is taken as a whole.
  • EstherB90
    Stick to history
Overall a good podcast when it sticks to history. It goes off the rails when the hosts try to make parallels between the past and current events. They like to take shots at the American right.
  • 1774-republic
Wow, what a great podcast as a history lover
While I super enjoy the episodes about things like the Battle of Britain, as an American I think it skews a bit towards the GB side in general, ignoring things like their crappy tea tax :) but I’m sold over now after listening to The Fall of the Soviet Union. Good stuff!
  • mjm313
    Always something to learn
Allowing subject matter experts with passion to tell their stories keeps me entertained and interested in the subject. You can listen to episodes of less than and hour anywhere including while driving around running errands. I’ve learned a lot about events I’ve not studied before and realized I’ve forgot things that happened 30 years ago even though I was there! I’m talking about the hostages of BA 149 during the invasion of Kuwait.

    Turn up volume!
Some episodes especially with telephone interviews are hard to hear from poor audio. Opium wars just had lots of mumbling from the guest and was impossible to understand.
  • Mr. Stasia
    Solidly Wonderful
Very good podcast. The original pieces are brilliant and well thought out. The History Hit replays can be a little smarmy due to that program’s host but that aside this is first rate.
  • 916Technician
The Napoleon episode is a joke
To completely neglect even a single sentence about Toulon in a review of Napoleons life? To not even mention the iconic march through the Alps after being first counsel? This show is British propaganda and bias masquerading as “history”. Disappointing.
  • Ranger Moyer
    Too woke
When British burned Washington filled with leftist misinformation and opinions instead of history. Comparing the 1-6-21 riot to the British action is stupid and over the line of history.
  • 6+*=6+**+
    Always enlightening
The Warfare Podcast covers an incredible amount of ground but James Rogers somehow always manages to bring nuance and insight to each subject. This show is a must listen for those interested in the broad sweep of history.

    Love this Show
I never miss an episode. They are all fascinating and important. Good work to the hosts, guests, and researchers!

    History not politics
I usually enjoy this podcast however the episode on presidential power to launch nukes was more opinions than history.
  • NJFW1
    Great Topics and interesting guest.
I really enjoy the subject matter and the guests that give their first hand accounts. Thanks

Perfect alternative to listening to news on my way to work
I pop on an episode while driving to work most days. Much better than the same divisive own the opposition news broadcasts and terrible covid updates. All that and learning new things about the past.
  • Knee Deep-Cayman
    Bad Audio
I like your content but the sound quality is terrible when you are recording telephone calls with your guests.

These podcasts are a fascinating dive into WW History. Concise, compelling and transporting.

    Epic
I get lost listening to these episodes. Amazing. 15000/10 for anyone even mildly interested in the wars that defined the 20th century.
  • David 1683649594
    Aftermath of World War
My heavens what a poor history. Versailles treaty not especially punitive? Don’t read only this and make it your take on the Great War. Love the rest of your stuff but this one is questionable at best. Almost needs a rebuttal episode. Look forward to returning to the rest of the catalogue.
