    Ruined by new hosts
I can’t believe how bad this show has gotten. The new hosts have really run it into the ground. Please, NPR, do something to save it, or cancel it. After 10+ years of following the show I finally unsubscribed today.

    First Time Skipping an Episode
One of the best shows out there. The Small Potatoes episode was banal to the extreme. I couldn’t take it after 20 minutes and I really wanted to like it. But it made me glad that I don’t financially support the show because if I did, I would’ve pulled my funding. I can’t believe actual money was spent to talk about a guy’s toothpaste habits for 20 minutes. Radiolab is at its best when it’s fascinating. Please keep to that. Thank you.

    I miss radiolab
Radio lab has been my favorite for years. I used to get stuck in my car, sitting in the driveway until the episode was over. Jad and Robert were the best. I just want some fresh episodes that are as creative and fresh as the old radiolab.
  • skyHighness
Still interesting, but not so great anymore.
This used to be the best produced and most thought provoking podcast out there, since new management took over, the depth, quality, diversity and regulatory of the show has been going downhill. I hope they get better soon!

    Rerunlab
Remember, when Radiolab wasn’t just reruns of earlier episodes?

    It’s been better
This show used to be one of the best, if not the best, podcast. The stories and journalism has taken a severe nosedive in the last few years. I used to be so excited for every episode but now it tends to be only for rewind episodes, which far exceed any new originals.

New hosts ruined a great show
New hosts have mangled what was once a work of art. Latif mansplains and there's an immaturity about the show now that's incredibly irritating. Jad and Robert, come back!!

    Annoying sound effects
I love your content but your sound effects are annoying and distracting and I often don’t finish listening to the episode.

the new voices are a little much
it’s excellently produced and love the old episodes but the new people they have on that are talking a little more are a little too much to bear now. old episodes are great but the new ones have a lot of giggling and annoying parts. so basically like a lot of the other podcasts out there. great content but broken up by a panel of people laughing n giggling here n there

    Incredible
It’s all facts and science delivered in a entertaining and engaging way, it’s hard to describe how amazing this is

    My first and favorite.
I loved Radiolab before I knew what a podcast was, listening to it on public radio, I have been, in turn, fascinated, inspired, moved, astounded, comforted, challenged, and constantly amazed. Currently in transition, I can’t wait to listen to what’s on the other side! 🖤

    ALWAYS OLD SHOWS
good grief - just say you stopped making your show and every episode is jus a replay
  • Latif mansplains
    Thanks for the reruns!
Some people seem annoyed by all the reruns but those are the only ones I listen to since the new ones are truly bad quality. Less Latif/Lulu, more reruns please.
  • am@nda780
The quality is so poor now.
Every new episode feels phoned in. I’ve followed for over a decade and I’m officially done.

    Radio Labradoodle
Radio Lab has an annoying amount hosts. Every episode starts with two hosts who react to a third host telling them what the subject of the episode will be. It seems like they are trying to mimic This American Life but TAL manages to insert a smaller story into the intro. So the intro is always a needless excess of the two hosts reacting to the third host’s choice of story and the reactions are always annoying. A lot of preciousness and fake “I guess I’m just weird”. Then the third host goes into each one of the stories which has another intro to each story host and the story host then presents the “radio experiment” which usually entails the story host being sweetly ignorant. They are always like “wow! I didn’t know that! Did you know that? No! I didn’t know that! Wow! Yes, wow! So often if my curiosity is aroused it is quickly doused by the fact that they play so stupid. I wish they would be a tad more inquisitive. So many times I have listened frustrated at questions they didn’t ask.

    Excellent show.
I love this show, but please do not eat on tape again.

RadioLab left the Lab Behind - Just Radio Now
I’m a scientist. I used to listen to every episode. I stopped years ago after it started introducing identity identity identity. Show lost its substance and traded science for politics. Another lost NPR treasure

    Heal the Show
I am a long-time listener - and for the last couple of years whenever I listen to Lulu and Latif start the show I think - these people HATE each other, what is going on? Everything seemed fine until Jad and Robert “retired” (but that doesn’t mean they get off) Every show starts with Lulu’s negative reaction to whatever that days show is about - she acts bored/confused/dismissive/quizzical about the topic - and then Latif responds defensively, followed by awkward forced laughter - it seems like the other hosts do their best to ignore that weird dynamic - I think most of the negativity is driven by Lulu (she is very unhappy personally and spiraling - I remember when she used to be the most curious, excited person on the show!) but Latif is an expert at needling her and doesn’t hold back - I’m hoping maybe they will read this and KNOCK IT OFF - they could even make a spin-off series about how to heal a dysfunctional workplace - I bet Adam Grant has some wisdom to share…. anyways, I will keep listening, but it seems really stupid for these two smart, talented people to have these awesome dream jobs, and instead of being happy and healthy leaders and mentors, they are petty and jealous and sniping and not even thinking about how uncomfortable it makes their coworkers and their listeners - 🌈 Dinaaaaaah

    What happened to Alan?
    That was weird.

You found Emilie but lost Allan
I’m speculating that…I don’t know but I’m concerned Allan got tossed aside like a used up sheet of drawing paper.

    After school special
This pod used to be interesting and illuminating about topics that Jad and Robert discover by living interesting lives then dive deeper into that subject and connect it the wider audience. Now it just seems like “Story time with Lala and Lulu: A Children’s Book” where they talk about their trauma and how they were wronged in place of having interesting stories from lived experiences.

    A Disappointing Evolution for Radiolab
Since Jad and Robert left the show, the content and production has suffered. So many recycled shows with hardly any new content…and it seems when it happens to not be a rerun it’s featured content from a different podcast. I used to look forward to Radiolab immensely, now hardly even bother to check…such a bummer.

    Keeps getting better
Keeps getting better and better as the years go by for me. Only podcast I donate money to! Negative reviews about new hosts reads like *very* thinly veiled misogyny, to me. Who wants those listers anyway?! Keep up the good work!
  • Mamabear1953
    Finding Emilie ?
What happened to Alan, the boyfriend who saved her? Why didn’t we hear an update on him?
  • DSpnw
    Reruns reruns reruns
I prefer the older format that was more science-based. But more than anything I can’t stand that almost every “new” episode is a rerun.
  • Jonbsan
    Emilie update
Thanks so much for sharing this and for all you do! I loved hearing the update on Emilie, but also wanted to hear an update on Alan, his love arguably saved her years of darkness or even death.
  • Parttimeyogi
    I tried, I really did
I miss Jad & Robert like everyone else. I always love Latif, I wish we could be friends IRL. But I simply cannot listen to Lulu’s voice. I know she’s been around for awhile. I tolerated Invisibilia. I’ve R E A L L Y tried to adapt to new hosts in charge, but it’s time to unfollow and move on. Newer listeners will hopefully stay blissfully unaware of how high the bar was previously set. Good luck guys!

    Long time listener says meh
I have been a fan of this radio show for almost 15 years. I have found it consistently, entertaining, thought-provoking, and world expanding. In the past two years that has started to change. While I won’t bash on the new hosts as some recent reviewers have done I will say that the nature of the show has changed, perhaps intentionally. I am willing to take the ride with you and see where you end up going, but only if I’m allowed to listen to your content. Over the years, I have given to the cause when I could afford it. But now your radiolab plus subscription has made your show largely unaccessible. This is a real shame since many need to hear good content. I hope that you can see fit to keep less of the content behind what for many, is a locked door.

Not what is used to be
I’ve been a fan of the show since around 2005. Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich were so talented at tapping into the humanistic and sometimes poetic elements of science reporting, and I just couldn’t get enough. Above all, the two brought a beautiful sense of wide-eyed curiosity to their stories. They were often foils to each other, often funny, but never cynics. Their openness is what stood out. Enter Latif Nasser as the current co-host of the show. The recent “Cheating Death” episode is a great example of my difficulty with his style. Maria Paz Gutiérrez discusses the great Ingmar Bergman film The Seventh Seal as entryway into viewing death. He begins by dismissing the film saying he’s pretty sure he slept through it. With Maria’s description of the plot he remains dismissively quizzical. And then he dismissively asks her why she even bothered to bring it up. Nasser is the kind of science guy I have a difficult time discussing anything with. Instead of curiosity he just brings smug skepticism. Maybe it’s a character he’s playing, the foil who requires an extra effort to convince. I’m just left with annoyance. His demeanor is basically the opposite of why I first fell in love with the show. The old Radiolab was full of wonder, and I miss that.

    My all-time favorite podcast
Consistently intriguing! Hosts are knowledgeable and lovable. Content is thought-provoking, innovative, engaging, and evokes “all the feels” in a deeply introspective way. A podcast that everyone can benefit from listening.

    get the band back together
I hate to sound like one of those people reminiscing on a band’s first album and lamenting that their new stuff “just isn’t the same”, however, this show has not been the same since Jad and Robert left. There are too many reruns, and gone are the days of me getting excited when a new episode airs. RIP Radiolab.

    Lulose your smugness
Lulu… explain to me what is soo funny about people struggling with suicidal thoughts? Grow a conscience and stop being soulless and vain.

    Kid friendly
This is one of the few podcasts I’m listening to that I will listen together with my pre teen kids in the car. I like the entertainment and yet educational. I found the topics informative.

    Every Part is Good
Documentary remix. This podcast is the blueprint of the narrative sound so many others reach toward with mixed success. It has human stories. Science stories. Surprising stories. Stories about language and stories about self reflection. Most are some mix of these. Beautiful sound mastering. Clear narratives without being a spoon a touch too far back on the tongue to feed you. If, somehow, you have not yet heard Radiolab, Go ahead and start now. I like to go back to the older ones and work forward, but you do you.

    Avoid at all costs
Another reviewer called Radiolab a bad show for children and I couldn’t agree more. Everything is repetitious, dumbed way down and delivered via irritating gimmicks. There are no true revelations but “poignant” musical cues will inform you that you should be experiencing them. It was a revolutionary show when it first began but at this point the format is tiresome and embarrassing.
  • Darragh_OK
    Listen for the Repeats
Once the greatest podcast out there. Rob and Jad were masters. Brilliantly interesting stories, brilliantly told. No hint of self-satisfaction. Unlike now where the show feels like, it’s been curated by a bunch of annoying spoilt kids. Maybe I’m getting old.
  • keljopy333
    Label your reruns
I used to love this show. Maybe I still could if you would label your reruns. I am so tired of wasting 15min on an episode only to realize it is one I have already heard. I am so tired of loading a bunch of podcasts on my phone for a roadtrip only to find half of the Radiolab episodes are repeats. There is no excuse. Many of the other podcasts I listen to do reruns. Every single one of them labels them in either the episode title or the beginning of the description. There is no good reason not to unless you are trying to trick supporters and sponsers into thinking you are producing more content than you are. I'm tired of it. Time to unsubscribe.

    Used to be good
Last episode I listened to brought up race and gender more than they talked about the headline topic of smart animals.
  • rampitup84
    Still got it
I’ve been listening since 2005 and this show has rearely if ever disappointed. Lately I’ve been loving Maria Paz Gutierrez’ voice. She sounds humbly excited to tell you about their research, devoid of the ubiquitous valley girl uptalk or that refined Anglo accent some other women podcasters have.
  • RochN676
    Disappointing
Since Jad and Robert left, Radiolab has basically just become a bad kids’ show.

    Best podcast ever!
My mom and look forward to every Friday when the show comes out. Radiolab is an amazing podcast that you should start listening to yourself. Lulu, Latif, do not listen to those haters. I love y’all and hope to follow in your footsteps. I an only 11. Also, let’s go ZOOZVE!

    BRING BACK ORIGINAL HOSTS
🥱 🤦‍♂️ It’s been going downhill consistently (and faster) since the original hosts left. Nowadays it’s more similar to one of those sad lonely para-social podcasts than it is a science show. These new dorks focus WAY too much on being cutie pie lil flirty fun folks to make the show interesting.
  • woxicjwl cb oanabhd
    Hmm….
There’s something really strange about how some of these stories are being told. They feel really biased like they’re trying to hide parts of the story because they don’t want the audience to think too deeply about certain topics… Idk just this very bad feeling I get from time to time.
