Nick"OldMan"WagnerStumbled on to a gem!I just this podcast two weeks ago and I have been binging them ever since in my free time! I immediately signed up for the Patreon to send what support I could and recommended it to every cinephile I know because I am loving the stories they tell behind these movies!

Catgotyoumoney?Best podcastBest podcast I’ve found and I don’t even like movies. I have not watched a movie since Harry Potter, I am not a movie person they take too long. However, I love listening to this podcast when I work out and mow. Hearing the stories and behind the scenes of making movies is far more interesting than any movie could ever be. My favorite episodes are those of New Line Cinema because I grew up fearing Freedy - although I admit … when the dude cried over that fake Star Wars movie (Tim Allen & Snape) was a great and sweet episode. Finally to the lady, you have a great laugh and great voice, don’t listen to the ignorance of others. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

kevbot217One of my favorite podcasts, full stopIt is extremely rare that I like a podcast enough to pay for it, but What Went Wrong is in the rare air of my Top 3 shows I gladly budget for. Pop culture history can be dry and academic or too fan-driven; this show manages to thread the needle of giving us “just the facts,” but also be fun and funny and exciting about it. The hosts have great voices and personalities and the guests (when they have them) are always well-chosen and highly knowledgeable. Sometimes, I even listen to episodes about movies I haven’t seen yet and get all wrapped up in it. The only thing missing is shows about The Goonies, Grease 2, and the movie that nearly broke Roger Ebert, North. I’m patient though.

idghayzoosBest speaking humans ever! This podcast is not just the best podcast about things going wrong on movie sets. This podcast is not just the best podcast about movies. This podcast is not just the best podcast about the entertainment industry. This might be the best podcast about any subject ever created. The hosts thread, the needle between being hilariously funny and keeping the story moving. At the end of every episode I find myself asking, “Do I have time for just one more?” Keep up the great work you rockstar superheroes!

CHM0905Good Info-Good HostsFound this podcast recently and scrolled to find movies the hosts had reviewed that I had seen. So much interesting background that is not included on IMDB.com. I am having a hard time finding movies I want to watch on various movie streaming apps, but this podcast is providing me with a list of movies to watch, if only to relate better to the podcast. The hosts are concise and don’t spend a lot of time goofing around and laughing at their own jokes. It’s so irritating when podcasters just talk to hear themselves talk…these two get to the point, and their brief asides are not annoying, but humorous. Highly recommend.

Conner A.Love the PodcastThis show is great and has inspired me to watch so many films that I’ve never seen before. It’s like having two intelligent, movie-buff friends that can boil down complex backstories into palatable listening. I love this podcast and recommend it to everyone!

FrancknessTerrific and Informative Show!A friend introduced me to the podcast about 2 months ago. I’ve been binging it nearly non-stop since then. It’s my near constant companion while I’m driving and walking around. Lizzie and Chris are great hosts: knowledgeable, witty, and refreshingly honest. The shows are well researched and well written. Can’t wait to get back to my binging!
-
Nickname HeckLove this pod!As a movie buff, I enjoy everything about this podcast. Lizzie and Chris are excellent hosts who bring a lot of film experience to their analyses. They’re very funny, too. I love to listen to a pod, then rewatch each movie they discuss. Keep it up!
-
Fox1947FoxMy Favorite PodcastI’m so glad the algorithm brought this podcast to me. Lizzie and Chris have made a really smart and addictive podcast that I’ve been binging all month. After reading THE FUTURE WAS NOW by Chris Nashawaty, I really wanted to learn the back story behind big movies. This is a perfect companion, and my only wish is that there were more episodes. Thank you for telling these stories!
-
propaganderyobsessedI am hoovering up episodes like a broken Jaws and enjoying them as much as Brando loved his Mini-Me. While yes, the hosts have a few gaps in film knowledge, it’s not egregious, and the content is so thoroughly researched, they deserve a pass. Heck, we all have film history blind spots and to that point, please don’t ask me about Kurosawa, I’ll get to his films I promise. Now will the super fans please join me in the “Oh No” drinking game (for those of us who don’t really drink, espresso shots will suffice). If you know “oh no,” you know. Now please let me get back to the show.

katatl2018Makes you care about moviesGreat chemistry between Chris and Lizzie, the hosts, make it a lot more entertaining than other podcasts where it sounds like people are just reading from their notes. They often discuss movies that I either didn’t care about or flat disliked (Gigli, Howard the Duck), but made me at least take a second look at. I thought Point Break was an extremely stupid movie, and still do, but the WWWrong review made me understand why people like it. Anyway, I love this podcast and listen to it as soon as it’s available every two weeks.
-
TaikwonSuch a fun deep dive into our favorite (and least favorite) movies…I know I’m late to the game and so glad that to have finally found. I am having so much fun going back through all of these episodes and watching/rewatching both great and terrible movies and then diving deep into them (except Lone Ranger, I just couldn’t do that one). I think the best part is that while you all are breaking down some of the terrible things about the movies we love and hate, you are always coming at it as people who love movies and love that you find the best parts of even the worst movies.
-
SjdnshdnsnUnspooled podcast is betterLess of an obnoxious host who laughs before they even begin to talk and another obnoxious host who thinks they know everything about movie making after making a few shorts.
-
Darbs27Favorite podcastI used to only listen to murder podcast but one day I came across this one. It’s so entertaining and the hosts are so smart and likable! They give a lot of interesting information on all different types of movies. The two hosts are definitely my favorite from any podcast out there! Great podcast!
-
Tiddly WinkStunt man and independent film director approved!I absolutely love this podcast! As both a stunt person and a director of films featuring actors with disabilities I love the in depth and empathetic narrative. It balances joy with heart and when things go wrong it highlights the humanity, as a truly well made movie would. Bravo!
-
jordanbrunxInformative and entertainingThis is a fun podcast. Great information and insight on how movies are made. Even if I’m not interested in the film, the episodes are generally entertaining. 5 stars!
-
plurieso wrong, yet so rightWhere some movie podcasts review movies or discuss why they are good/bad, our pals Lizzie and David are not afraid to get their hands dirty and tell you exactly what it took to actually get the film made in the first place. Not for the weak at heart - some of these movie productions feature accidents, firings, regime changes and DEATH! Plus Lizzie does a killer shrek impression.
-
keeksjjHow did I not know about this podcast?!I have scrolled through podcast recommendations/reviews for so long before I found this one. If you're doing the same, stop now. The hosts are enjoyable to listen to and have great chemistry, the movies are way more interesting than I would've thought, and each episode is so well written. Definitely a new favorite podcast. 👏🏼

JesseLogan20Love it with one critiqueI’ve been binging the podcast for the last week and I love the chemistry between the 2 host and I love the way they dissect the movie and give us no movie industry people a really good look behind the scenes. Just one thing I haven’t seen any queer movies represented it would be great if y’all could fit that into the rotation
-
CelesteRussellGreat Podcast!I needed a new podcast to listen to while at work and am so glad I stumbled on this one! I started with episodes on movies that I have seen. Honestly though I can listen even to the ones I haven’t. Hosts are great with information and banter. Super fun show for movie lovers.

joyousdayFun and informative without being pretentiousDemi Adejuyigbe mentioned this podcast on IG once and so I thought I’d give it a try. What a delight?!?! I am not into film and know a handful of film bros so I was a little nervous going in, but the hosts are very welcoming and inclusive to those of us not in the biz. I find it super interesting and informative and love learning more about how this all works. The hosts are entertaining, down to earth, but also offer defined perspectives. I also appreciate how much research goes into each episode! I’ve been binging this for the past few months and I’m almost caught up to present day, and it will be tough to have to wait for new eps once I do. This also has been helpful for my weekly bar trivia!!!
-
ArvalynReally interestingFound out about this through How Did This Get Made. I really like how much research the hosts have done; it’s a fascinating podcast. The episodes are long, but it moves at a good pace and there’s no filler. Highly recommend.

Destef08Superior Podcast EntertainmentThis is a fantastic podcast! The amount of time and research they put into each episodes is astounding! Their attention to detail is the reason this is one of the best podcasts. I enjoy listening to every episode even if I’ve never seen the movie. The Galaxy Quest episode was so moving I had to pull over to gather myself together. Thank you Chris and Lizzie🙏 You are amazing!!
-
POO ON FIREChris is rightIt is my favorite podcast. I’m having a fantastic time binging on every episode. What goes right: These two chuckling and giggling at their own jokes, making me laugh literally out loud. Great research and presentation. Great movie selection! What goes wrong: New episodes too far apart, and I’m going to run out of episodes to binge. Also, your theme music reminds me of the video game Castle Crashers.
-
BazookaGoblinsGood stuff, well researched and entertainingThe true test only this type of movie podcast for me is threefold: 1. Tell me something I don’t already know about the movie. 2. The hosts aren’t more amused with themselves and their goofs than the info they are providing. 3. Make the show interesting even if it’s a movie I don’t particularly care about. I’m listening to several hours of Shrek content now, so #3 is passed with flying colors. The show passes the other categories as well, and makes a fun, casual listen. I’ll be making my way through the back catalog now and can’t wait to learn more along with the great hosts!
-
j.williams.jrOnly wish they were longerAnd that you would talk about the actual movie itself more. Other than that, love all the bts and making of discussion. Been listening for a year or so. Wanted to finally give yall some stars! Keep it up!
-
yoda_24Love itThis is my favorite podcast. Sad I’ve gone through all the old episodes but eagerly anticipating the new ones. Thank you for taking the time to research and produce this, it’s a bright spot any day I can listen. Also reminds me why I was so obsessed with movies as a teenager, I’d forgotten my passion for them. Great work.
-
Nikki ViteIncredible Story TellersI’ve only just found this podcast but I am completely blown away by what amazing story tellers the hosts are. Not only is it fascinating to hear the stories behind so many of my favorite movies, details I haven’t even seen in special features, but the way they tell the scoop behind these movies is so compelling, I can’t wait to keep listening!!
-
WillPlumbforFoodAmazingI found this show on a random search for a new podcast and it has been worth every minute. It have been awesome to hear the growth in the show over the past few years and every episode gets better! I especially love the the reference material, it has given me more books to look at and by putting these films in their context of time I use their example in my classes to show historical context to my students. Yeah. Great work folks!
-
akabailmoneyExpanding my movie horizonsThis podcast has inspired me to watch so many movies that I likely never would have watched otherwise!
-
Cleff GarbenseMy favoriteWhat Went Wrong is the podcast I look forward to the most. I always get excited when it pops up in my feed. I’ve listened to every one and they’ve gotten me through some long drives. I love Lizzy & Chris together! Their easy charm just makes me smile. Thanks for all you do!
-
ST00PSFun, Light, and InformativeI’m a political news junkie which means I don’t have much hope for the future, but I found this podcast and now things don’t seem so bleak. What Went Wrong is truly a bright spot on my Up Next playlist. It’s fun, funny, informative, and well-researched, and I really appreciate that I don’t have to have watched the movie to enjoy listening to what went wrong (and right) on some of these movie sets. I suppose that it’s good for the hosts, Chris and Lizzie, that they have their day jobs, but I hope they plan on running this podcast for a long time bc there are just so many movies that I would love for them to cover! If you have any appreciation for movies, I highly recommend giving this podcast a listen.
-
ZachhhJMovie Lovers Must Listen!Super fun show with awesome hosts! If you have any interest in movies and movie culture, this podcast should be at the very top of your list. It's inspired me to watch old movies I never would have considered. Definitely my favorite podcast, full stop.
-
K_BalsFun & InterestingA very well done podcast. Listening to What Went Wrong and the stories behind some of my favorite movies has inspired me to rewatch my faves and helped me discover movies I’ve never seen. Thank you for your exhaustive research and wonderful storytelling. I really enjoy this podcast.
-
angrylfWell researched - fun delivery - great showThe hosts have great chemistry while delivering in depth research - really well done. If you love movies you’ll enjoy it.
-
emmeline clarkeUnited a familyMy mom and I burned through so many episodes on a long drive from Chicago to Iowa. Even my dad, who isn’t really a podcast guy, loved the episodes on typical “dad” movies (apocalypse now, exorcist, etc) and was having a great time! I love that while there is banter and silliness, there’s clearly an outline of research and that’s what is discussed. I learn so much while listening and I have so many movies to add to my watchlist.

20dollarramenDon’t apologize!Obsessed with the pod. The struggles of creating anything of quality and artistic merit under a capitalist system. Fantastic research and the hosts are great! It makes me sad that the hosts feel like they need to apologize for “being too political” or “too woke,” which we all know is a dog-whistle. Examining historical media with a critical lens, against present-day context is….basic media literacy, required for a film podcast like this. I’m not sure what strange film bros are complaining about the hosts’ (imo) very fair, and mostly mild criticism, but I hope the hosts don’t feel discouraged by them! Who needs bigoted, weird fans anyway?
-
lucia107Great research and likable hostsI found this from a “How did this get made” recommendation. I love it and am working through all the old episodes.
-
drunkandy247Great podcast full stopListened to Chinatown episode and I am hooked! Great job
-
ninaev400One of My Favorites!I love, love, love this podcast! It has made me want to watch movies that I thought I had no interest in—and provides me with greater insights into movies that I have seen and loved, liked or even disliked. Please keep up the great work! Movies I’d love to hear about on your show: 1. Rainman 2. Meet Joe Black 3. Pillow Talk 4. It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World 5. Top Gun 6. Auntie Mame
-
KAF1978So happy I found this podcast! This podcast is a gem! If you love movies, this is for you. It's very well researched, with a great selection of films, and the hosts and guest hosts are fantastic!
-
Kevinca27Five StarsGreat podcast! Two entertaining and well spoken hosts who provide a well researched show that I can’t stop listening to. A great collection of movies, many that I have seen and some that I am adding to my ‘to watch’ list. Thank you for the work and time you put into the show. Always something to look forward to!

utah 123So so so goodAfter binging this show over the past month, I am now in mourning that I have to wait for each new episode :( The show is great for casual movie fans, film fanatics, and anyone in between!
-
VeganTravelerFun and Fascinating Romp For Movie Buffs!Yes, it’s a romp, which, according to my new best friend ChatGpt4o, “usually implies an activity that is lighthearted, energetic, and enjoyable.” This podcast really gets into each film it covers, not all duds, but all with notable production “challenges” that make you appreciate filmmaking in a deeper more knowledgeable way. The hosts are funny and obviously engaged in each of the films they are discussing. They don’t hold back their opinions or occasional trashy talk, which I f’ing appreciate (but it’s not over the top). The only downside of the episodes I’ve listed to so far is learning about some of the horrible behavior that went on behind the scenes by famous actors and directors. But that’s all part of learning how the sausage gets made (and why I’m a vegan). Anyway, great podcast and I will keep listening as long as they keep making it!
-
lydster27Reel Good, Reel FunI enjoy this podcast too much. It’s all I think about. It’s taken over my personality.
-
Grant MorrisOne of my main podcastsThe MintMobile ad after they talk about how hot Ryan Reynolds is one of the many reasons why I listen to this podcasts.
-
HiSpeedLowDragJust Caught Up!Found this podcast based on a recommendation from “How Did This Get Made” podcast host Paul Scheer. Just binged every episode of this great podcast! Love it, the hosts are hilarious. The amount of research Chris and Lizzie bring to every episode is astounding. Truly becoming one of my favorite podcasts.
-
Desdemona12345I non-ironically love this showY’all (Lizzie and Chris) are two of the most charming and insightful film talker-abouters I’ve ever listened to. I love Lizzie’s razor-sharp wit and Chris’ eloquent and thoughtful insider knowledge. …Which makes it “ironic” that Chris seems to not know what “ironic” means. Or maybe it’s a bit? Or maybe we all fell under the spell of Alanis Morissette in the mid-90’s and our grasp of “irony” just washed away like so many messages carved into beach sand. Or maybe nobody cares, and that’s the biggest irony of them all. Love the podcast, full stop. -Sam C, devoted listener from New Orleans (go Pels)
