    Oct 25 casual Friday
Whoever was the buzzkill on the Friday casual Friday should never be invited back.

    Favorite Local Pod!
I’m a recent transplant, and this podcast has been a huge help for me in learning the area and the stories surrounding it. They give helpful context in both the headlines and the longer-form pieces, and I always enjoy the Friday hangout episodes!

Consistent lack of diverse Seattle perspectives
While I do generally enjoy this podcast, they tend to invite the same guest to discuss local topics with one-sided ideological perspectives. A hyper left platform that supports tolerance of crime, homelessness, mental illness, blight, and rampant drug use, and graffiti And disparages efforts to reduce the impact of set issues gets tiresome. This is public radio. It wouldn’t hurt to have a more robust perspective of ideas. Please do better.

    Best Seattle News Podcast
Even though this station didn’t respond to my request to add disability accommodations to their website, this is still the most factual Seattle news podcast

    Pretty good local coverage
Nice podcast, but after years of listening I can no longer control my impulse to take a star off my review to penalize Patricia Murphy for dropping every single “g” at the end of words. Doin’, goin’, etc. It’s so irritating. 😖

    Love the new evening episodes
Really enjoying the evening episodes. Good work!

    Ceasefire Now
i listen to this podcast every week day morning. i’m confused how northbound traffic was blocked on i-5 for HOURS on saturday calling for a ceasefire in gaza and end to the genocide of palestinians and y’all didn’t mention it at all? “every time the media lies, another palestinian dies.”

    Avoiding Science for Listeners
As someone in the climate and sustainability sector of business, I just listened to their episode “Why is it so warm?” where they interviewed a meteorologist about our record breaking winter climate, the dire condition of our snowpack and the impending drought. While it is a “El Niño” year, it is drastically amplified because of the climate crisis fueled by greenhouse gas emissions. This is a scientific fact. However, in 12 mins, no one mentioned the root cause of why it is so warm even once. And to add to that, they laughed through the whole thing. One of the worst pieces of disinformation I’ve come across. Not telling the truth or providing all the facts when necessary is in many ways worse than lying about it.

    Bite-sized news!
Love the bite-sized news every morning as I commute to work. It’s the perfect way to stay informed on trending topics.

    Miss opportunity
Hello fan of the show! I can’t help but think today was a huge missed opportunity to have an honest conversation about the effects of drug use in Seattle. After the story about the passage of the city Council Bill, the very next story was about the effects of legalized drug use and the effects on the tourism industry in Portland. I think it’s only fair to ask if the policies (although not the same) could lead to the same outcomes for Seattle. Unfortunately it became a big brother vs little brother joke fest about who gets better concerts. Considering the time and resources that we all are collectively funding in our region to help people out I think we need to also ask ourselves if the policies are actually effective. Is the current state of Portland a canary in the coal mine?

Content is good but format is lacking
Good news content to stay up to date on Seattle but the music, delivery and some content focus feels like it’s from an NPR station from the ‘90’s. Please listen to City Cast Chicago to get a feel for how a local news podcast can be designed to have a modern feel and delivery and attract a wider audience.

    Overwhelming negative
I have been listening for over a month. I like the idea and appreciate the headlines but the hosts and guests seem to find the most negative angle to most stories. I am a PNW liberal but their personal stances on issues are pretty extreme. I would love to see more public transit and bike infrastructure but I don’t need to hear you whine about it. I don’t need to hear that you’re wearing a mask everywhere you go in 2022. I know Seattle is expensive, how about some creative solutions. Get hosts and guests who know what they’re talking about with creative solutions and I’ll resubscribe.

    Fentanyl
Let’s be clear, the stigma of criminality surrounding drug use is not the act of taking the drug, it’s what the drug addict does to get another dose and what they do while they’re out of their minds on drugs. I had a family member who was a drug addict, he was a thief and robber who would steal a starving child’s only meal if it meant he could use it to buy drugs. He was constantly in jail and prison, not for his drug use but for his constant thievery. He’s dead now, and thank god. He stole and he robbed and he had no remorse. His drug was his god and everyone else be damned.

    Pulse of Seattle
Love this podcast. It keeps me up to date on what is going on in Seattle. Even more the expert guests have provided insight into topics of broad interest beyond Seattle. Patricia Murphy is an excellent interviewer.

    Marshall Law Band
I usually listen to this daily, but I took a break from podcasts for a few weeks and just started catching up. So glad I caught this end of the year re-broadcast. I just purchased the Marshall Law Band 12th & Pine album and I’m hooked. I’m also happy to support what sounds like a great team that is doing the work physically, mentally, and emotionally. Thanks for the introduction!

    Seattle Now
I love the show, and want to say thanks to Patricia Murphy for reinstating her “but first, let’s get you caught up” instead “now some headlines.” It feels so much more personal, like she is talking directly to me directly!

Best thing to happen to Seattle since coffee!
Always enjoy listening to Patricia Murphy’s take on the news.

    Mr PJC
The host does a great job drawing out information and the content is short put impactful. Host is the star but a variety of guests are great.

Daily morsels of Seattle life = Just Right
As a former Seattle resident, this pod really hits the spot. I can keep up with my favorite corner of America without getting bogged down. The fifteen minutes spent listening fits perfectly into a busy daily life.

I want to like this show so much
I’m perpetually disappointed with this show. The style is far too casual and shallow for my taste. Especially Friday. Anyone who wants some meat with their potatoes will be left hungry. This must be a deliberate style choice to keep things light and approachable but i want much more details and more serious topics please.
  • JMNIV
    Newcomers
A bunch of people not from the PNW passing judgement on the PNW. More often like a “lifestyle” podcast: hit or miss that actual news is covered at a useful level.

    What Seattle needed
Seattle had a dry spell without any daily news podcasts. I had been periodically searching for one when I discovered the Seattle Now Podcast, and I was delighted! This podcast is well-produced and professional. Exactly what I was looking for. Keep it up!
  • Cameron_fire
    Meaningless?
I was initially very excited to listen Seattle NEWS. That is, relevant, meaningful stories and updates about my city. What I got was the opinions of people who talk about absolutely meaningless, outside, random topics that completely ignore what our local area is actually doing. Please report and share on things that will keep us updated and informed rather than whatever sounds fun to you specially. If I wanted to see people’s opinions and interests I could just go on literally any social media platform that I wouldn’t call news.

I just wanted to let you know that just after I listened to the podcast about diving crows, I crossed the street from my car and not only heard at least one crow cawing but one did dive bomb me underneath some trees! But I was now so calm and prepared after this podcast!

    Hmmm
Ever want to hear white privilege narrate the future of our elitist local economy then you are definitely in the right place

    “Seattle Now”
Tuesday 1/5/21 episode had absolutely nothing to do with Seattle. If I want to hear about national news I’d listen to any other program. I come here to hear news on the city, not national news.

    Every single weekday
I could listen to Murph every day. Oh, wait—I do. So personable and enjoyable to listen to. She’s such a great interviewer. She feels like a friend and I’m just tuning in to hear Murphy tell me all about what’s happening “in our neighborhood.” She’s set the journalistic bar a little too high, in my opinion... 😉

    Quick, positive, local
This is often the first thing I’ll listen to in the morning. Relatable stories, hopeful tone, great guests and a wonderful way to put things in context.

Ok, it’s more important to me than The Daily now
I find myself listening to Seattle Now before The Daily now. Way to go, local news!

We get it: public broadcasting prefers ballet to sports.
Gotta piss on the Kraken announcement. Fine. You don’t have to care. But it’s the only remotely fun thing that happened in the public sphere this week. Maybe just don’t say anything. Whatever. <unsubscribes>

The perfect way to get Seattle news and nothing else
This is how I avoid toxic and partisan news while still staying in touch with what is happening in my city.

Great way to stay in touch with what’s happening locally
This podcast was recommended to me by a coworker and I’m so glad I found it! I’ve been feeling super burned out on national news lately and this is a great way to hear what’s going on in the community around us. They do a really great job of picking relevant topics. Keep it up!

    Good news for me
Good news for me I finally found good local news. I usually listen to NPRs daily news, but I really wanted to find something local that was comparable- I’m so happy I found this:)
  • WS15410
    Conversational and Informative
Does a great job covering straight news while also including conversations and more open-ended coverage. A daily listen if you live in Seattle, or elsewhere.
