    Whoa
Well if this isn’t a great example of how to conduct civil, challenging conversations, I don’t know what is. I will keep listening and leaning this technique. Thank you.

Amazing conversations...and how to have them!
Great conversations focusing on "What folks believe and why they believe it". Mark has a very calm and thoughtful conversation style. These talks are really interesting and informative. Well done!

    Making People Think!!
Mark does a great job engaging with people and getting them to think through their beliefs, with a respectful and friendly style. Also: Buddy Holly is totally a god of rock!

    Absolutely Terrific
If you wish to help others engage in critical thinking about their own beliefs, this is the podcast for you. You can’t help but appreciate Mark’s approach.

    A great podcast
I have so much respect for Mark and his ability to stay so calm and respectful. I could never. The mental gymnastics people use to justify their beliefs over other beliefs is so frustrating but he never loses his cool.

Now that’s what I call funky
After listening to mostly long form and informative podcasts I now can’t get enough of these podcasts/YouTube channels that explore how we know what (we think) we know. Truly enlightening.

    Fascinating Explorations of Belief
This show’s host, Mark Soloman, asks insightful questions to his guests about a variety of beliefs, to both understand their values and explore the importance of truth, evidence, and faith. It’s very interesting to follow their conversations and consider responses within the context of reason and the guest’s thought processes. Be prepared to reconsider your own beliefs as well!

Epistemology in action - I love it.
These conversations are beautiful models of active listening, Socratic method, and honest pursuit of knowledge. The pacing is well considered and the kindness and tone are inspiring. The interviews are supported by an intentional doxastic openess that is missing in most discussion regarding faith, the supernatural, and claim making in general. This project is rich with productive dialogue, thoughtful skepticism, and clear examples of epistemology as a discipline.

    Brilliant interviews
Do you ever listen to an interview and wish the interviewer had asked a great question? That doesn’t happen with this one. He asks all the questions you want him to ask and the great ones you didn’t think to ask.

    Great podcast
Mark Solomon is calm and respectful. He digs deep to help his interlocutor discover their real reason for believing. Then he discusses the validity of their method. Sometimes they don’t “get” it but those listening might hear the lack of reasonableness in the methodology. And then perhaps his interlocutor will think further about the discussion. It’s much more respectful to have a conversation rather than a debate.

    Outstanding
Rational thinking at all levels of society is sorely lacking and Mark Solomon does a great job asking good questions and listening thoughtfully. Great modeling for more productive discussions in every day life.

    Great Show
Mark is very respectful and you don’t know where he stands on the subject being discussed. He attempts to get answers from those being interviewed while “being reasonable” with the interviewees. Not a debate but an information gathering session. Mark does not focus on himself as many interviewers in these types of settings do. Definitely a different kind of show.

Don’t get much out of it
I get the point of this podcast and I like the idea of questioning why people believe in the things they do. But in the end it always comes down to their faith. Sure some people contradict themselves saying it’s important to them that they believe in the truth but at the same time they don’t care so much if it’s actually true what they believe in because believing makes them feel better. And of course they’ll never change their mind because what they believe in can never be proven wrong. So it’s a bit of a pointless conversation to have as it never goes anywhere. Also who uses a scale from 1 to 7? And what’s the deal with the “short” breaks in which some random music is being played? If I want to listen to music I don’t listen to a podcast. Kinda odd.

    Excellent Show
What is lacking in our country at the moment is the skill of critical thinking. Really this show teaches you how to critically examine any presented belief, whether you agree with the belief or not. And that's a good thing.
  • Scoobysh
    Brilliant concept
Asking people what is the basis for their beliefs and then reframing their beliefs under their own basis forces rational thinks to re-examine what they believe.

    Just found a great podcast
Everyone is passionate about something, and this podcast asks that question. I don’t hear judgement from the interviewer, which I appreciate, we have enough of that in every day life. People don’t talk about things like this, especially in this depth. I found a really interesting podcast.
