T_KaiserKeepin’ it realI just started listening, and I think this is my favorite podcast. Nobody’s trying to get themselves over by being funny, witty or sarcastic. Just genuine people celebrating horror films with great conversation. This is exactly what I want in a show. No bombastic personalities, no overproduced audio. This is as bare bones as it gets, and I absolutely love it. Thank you for this show. I hope to do a similar show of my own one day.

Lord VoltaI dig this show! This show is very chill to listen to and it covers some great overlooked films. I love the guest he has on. Mostly people I’m familiar with

jb001984Horror Horror HorrorGreat Horror film podcast that is well edited, funny, doesn’t stray, it’s like delicious podcast jerky, satisfying and lean. Also a great resource for finding what to watch next.
-
Ryumaskgreat analysis pod at its best with dense movieslove the movie Under the Silver Lake, and this was posted to the subreddit for it and its great. not just that episode which is my favorite and goes so far in depth for a movie with plenty to dig into but ive been going through more and theyre all really good. Mulholland drive ep is another great one.

micfloryCame for the guests, stayed for the host.I’m a huge horror fan and avid podcast listener. I love hearing people speak on the craftsmanship of cinema and too often horror is neglected in these conversations. This podcast provides a place for such conversions with great guests and great film picks. George (the host) does a fantastic job keeping it casual and fun while still viewing the film though a critical lens. Also if I’m being honest, many hosts of podcasts can’t seem to hang when a comedian is a guest. George is GREAT at this, he manages to keep up with the guest’s sense of humor without stepping on their toes. Must listen for horror fans!

bumblefukLove it!Love the format! The host and guests are great!
-
OhPeachesGood listenJust started. Some really good guests and good horror picks!

Bulbabuddy420good show became greatThis show has always been good, but it's really hit a hot streak since the Hellraiser episode, and it really makes it obvious when other shows are just reading the wikipedia article.
-
TheDriveInLivesA show that respects horrorNo matter what genre they're talking about, George still takes it and the research seriously. Low budget exploitation to high concept arthouse, its all here. Amazing show. 5 stars.
-
velveetahead999Well researched with great guestsThe amount of time and care George puts into each episode is evident. He does a great job bringing his guests into the discussion about the movie while also keeping the entire conversation moving along. I love the variety of movies that the guests bring to it too.
-
Twizzlertwink2000Long Live the New FleshI love videodrome and the episode they did on it was so great, amazing discussion with lots of research. And thats the case with every episode! perfect show.
-
MonkeyPaw222Best horror podcastI listen to a lot of horror podcasts and this is no doubt my favorite. George's passion for the genre shines through the whole concept of the show and letting people talk about a movie they're really into makes the episodes fly by. The Jacquis Neal "Us" episode is a perfect starting place. Funny and insightful from guest and host.
-
RazzberryPieMy absolute favoriteFunny and informative, I love hearing comedians talk about horror! Two great tastes that taste great together!
-
FrankBoothsPBRA David Lynch Lovers delightThis show is really spectacular. The normal episodes are great, but I've never seen someone take such a well rounded and interesting approach to the work of David Lynch. The conversations are thoughtful but don't get lost in the weeds, allowing people to maintain their own interpretations but helping you see George's perspective. I hope the rest of the movies make their way onto BLHHiP! My fave - Blue Velvet of course!
-
MuppMantis87Amazing showI really love this podcast!
-
GraniteBrantBLHHIP=Brotherly LoveThe Best Little Horror House in Philly is a fantastic pod hosted by one of the kindest and most knowledgeable fellas in the game, George Heftler. The research he brings to each episode is fantastic and listening to guests argue why their choice is the best horror film ever is always entertaining.
-
CwoowcNever a Bad EpisodeI’ve been working my way through the backlog and I am endlessly entertained. Having guests that genuinely love each movie makes every episode a joy. George is great at keeping the discussion on track, giving interesting insight into each film, and letting his guests shine.
-
Patricia RussoThe best podcast nobody has heardlove this show so much not sure how its not more popular! should definitely be in your horror podcast rotation!
-
Brian JActionFun and informative!George is such a great host! He goes deep into the research of the movies covered and has an easygoing vibe with each guest. Full disclosure - I was on a big group episode and George put in work to take out all my stuttering and stumbling over words to make me sound like an actual human saying words 🙂Love the pod!

GloriaGloryaYaThe Perfect Indie PodcastI kind of can't believe how much more work it feels like goes into this podcast than other indie shows. The movies are researched within an inch of their lives, but it's also never boring. There are a bunch of amazing comedy guests, I came here from following Michael Swaim and they had such a great thoughtful conversation that I had to immediately find a movie I HAD seen, and it was just as great. Ive listened to about two dozen since then and I can tell that as I work my way through, I'll discover so many movies to watch and new reasons to love old favorites. I can't wait!
-
SarahShazzahMy Absolute FavoriteI love this podcast! George said he was inspired by gourley and rust, and i think that totally comes through... he's so positive about the movies, but that doesn't mean he's just looking at surface level stuff. Really great guests, i hope he can get Gourley and Rust on there some time since he has gotten some people from the same circles, some great comedy guests, which means george can focus on the information, but he's also pretty funny. You should listen for yourself! BEST HORROR MOVIE EVER MADE: HALLOWEEN!!!
-
gonzogalloVarietyAmazing show with good conversations with a great range of guests and tastes. I’m new to this show and just catching up, but every ep so far is a banger. Runs the gamut from bloody slashers to soul crushing despair (shout out to Russell Qualls covering Threads) and digs in to more than just plot.
-
everybodytothelimitGreat for horror fans!A perfect companion podcast for horror movie fans! George is knowledgeable and a great host, and the wide variety of movies covered is awesome.
-
Podd Tadreincredible guestsDon't get me wrong, George is great, but I have no idea how he's gotten these incredible guests from in Philadelphia. It'll be a bunch of what is clearly just his friends, and then suddenly all the sloppy boys, Joe Wengert, mitch from the doughboys, Betsy Sodaro, Mookie B, etc. And they all seem to be pretty breezy with him, Idk if he used to be in the comedy scene? It's great to hear another side of my favorite comedians though, and this def sets BLHHIP apart from other horror podcasts. So however he's doing it, keep it up! And get Paul F Tompkins!
-
DthulhuDeep dives into the Best MoviesA huge variety of guests means that you’ll hear a lot of great information about some classics, hidden gems, and some of the best movies you’ve never heard of!
-
DustfA great balanceA great balance of fun and insight, never boring. I always come away with a new appreciation for some of my favorite horror classics.

PatrickDanger123Best Horror PodcastWhen George mentioned that he was at 49 reviews and would really appreciate it if he could hit the 50 review milestone on iTunes, I took as a call to action to help this delightful podcast hit its goal. To give you a bit of context why this review is a relative big deal I have to explain that I don't really use Apple products to help my man George hit his target of 50 reviews I did the following: - Switched on my PC - Downloaded the infernal iTunes app (which I have no intention of using at all) - Find my Apple ID and password from somewhere ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - Find this podcast - The write this review This is like 3 more steps I would have been willing to do for a podcast and I'm not even sure if I'm doing this right. This is all because (as well as being a guest once) I am a really big fan of this show and I think you would be too.
-
PerkisizeExcellent Positive Movie TalkGeorge has great guests on who champion movies high and low. Make no mistake, every movie covered is the best horror movie ever made. That's why the show is great, there are only positive takes. George is a great host and you can hear the guests having a fun time. Highly recommended.
-
304-324-474Good stuffThis is a great background podcast. With George and the guests I don’t need to have watched the movie to still follow along and have a great time
-
J. KredibleSo comfortable!I love horror movies. For some reason, I find solace in watching them. This podcast dives into so many of my favorites with great energy and a surplus of info. Great guests. Informative and funny! And George seems like a goooood egg!
-
@elizamuffinsReally interesting and fun!George Has great guests, some you may know already and some you will have fun getting to know. A fun and informative podcast that is never boring. I’ve seen a lot of these movies and really like the different takes and bit of trivia.

perrypumkin92Delightful Horror PodI stumbled upon this podcast this summer and it is a PERFECT addition to my horror review pod rotations. This definitely is in my top listens. I really enjoy having each episode walked through as “the best “ because in Horror there is something for everyone. The host is knowledgeable about the films and has good chemistry with his guests. Keep up the great work!!

Vivios KnightGreat podcast that occasionally is tainted by an unprepared guestThe positivity of having a guest talk about their favorite horror film is amazing and definitely feels fresh when so much content is geared towards negativity. The only issue that I have comes from some of the guests which state they’re not really horror fans and they don’t have knowledgeable of how basic film structures work. Now you don’t have to be a huge horror fan (just appreciate the genre) and you don’t have to be a critic/filmmaker (but have an understanding of the process). This is clear in the Slither episode where the guest constantly says how it actually isn’t that great and how it’s problematic nowadays. You can say a film has flaws or is problematic by modern standards However, the constant commentary of it not being good leaves us wondering why he chose it or at least find someone to talk about the movie who has a little more passion for the project. Also by not understanding the culture when it was made and using phrases like how we just want more from our art now (opposed to 2006) is incredibly ignorant, not only the horror genre but cinema in general. George doesn’t do this and he’s great in every episode. It just feels like some of these guests are there purely because they’re friends with the host or maybe they have a slight social media following to boost the listener count but ultimately these couple of guests have nothing to contribute.

Mr McReadyFun Take On HorrorThis podcast is a lot of fun, and it’s an interesting concept and delivery. Always a new guest with fresh perspective. If you like horror films, you have to check it out!
-
CatahstrophicGreat Horror DiscussionsI love this friendly take to horror discussion. Having listened to 5 episodes of the past few days, I have no plans of slowing down. I enjoy the guests and the breakdown of the film. Highly recommend for horror fans!
-
DaddysCasaI hate horror movies but love this showI've always hated horror movies because they are far too scary for me and therefore unenjoyable. This podcast has been a perfect entry point however and listening to George expertly breakdown the films make them more manageable for to watch. I've grown to love the genre thanks to George! Plus his sultry vocal chords soothe me through my day.
-
xcertifiedninja1xJump start back into the horror genreI have always liked horror movies but never get to watch them much due to the wife not liking them. This podcast helps me get my horror fix in. Great host and good times. Helps me pick and choose what movie is woth my time to invest in, Keep it up and will continue listening.
-
MoonjakeGreat ShowGreat show and great host! Not a huge fan of horror movies but still enjoyable listening to funny people talk about them!
-
Channel83PodGreat show!I'm a big time supporter of this show, I've been listening since the beginning. The best part about TBLHHIP (other than the host George, of course), is the premise of talking about the film for each week as if it were "the best horror movie ever made". It taps into the joy of sharing your fandom with others and the genuine love that each guest has for the movie they've selected really comes across. This is a great listen for both horror buffs and fans that are just getting into the genre and strikes a great balance between being informative while still being entertaining.
-
sophiah123OMG This is Great!I used to be a huge horror fan in my teens, but fell away from it. Listening to this podcast has drawn me back in after so many years! George’s knowledge of the genre and the fine points he brings up about subtleties such as the musical scores, cinematography and multi-level themes have made me a true fan of both the genre and this podcast! I never realized that there was so much substance in horror and really thought it was just about the jump scares...but there’s so much more. And if you haven’t already watched Hereditary, don’t wait...it’s a must see!
-
scottymayknowI love the deep dive on horror moviesI just started getting into horror movies recently and to hear everyone talk about their favorite horror movies make me want to watch them. I loved that in the Shaun of the dead episode brought up Banana Splits! Definitely going to keep listening
-
Pulgergsarifun and personal horror podcastSuch a fun new podcast. The audio is a little spotty at times but it's clearly a passion project, not some big studio capitalizing on horror's renaissance. I love the way George talks through the plot while also providing his own personal insights into the way the movie is put together, and how it creates a great final product. The best part of this podcast though is finding out why the guest picked their movie. Horror is such a personal genre, and with just a few episodes, guests have already picked movies I've never even heard of. Great way to find new movies to check out, although worth noting that they do go into spoilers for every episode.
-
dumplstiltskinBest Little Horror ShowGreat show! A fun listen for hardcore horror fans and casual fans alike! Host is super knowledgeable and they’ve covered some great flicks
-
blargthebearA true gemOften times I sit and ponder the meaningless of life. What impact can one life have on the history of this planet. To what end does our suffering serve the universe. Then when I am done thinking that I sometimes listen to this podcast. It's pretty good.
-
gjmjjmGood laughs and great commentaryGeorge and his weekly guests never fail to deliver insightful commentary about the best horror films of all time, always laced with a healthy dose of comedy. Never taking things too seriously, George expertly leads the conversation while leaving ample room for the opinions of his friends. A great way to find new movies while celebrating those you’ve always loved!
-
Joseph KrullGreat Host, Great ShowGeorge is a top-notch horror fan and an insightful movie critic. He’s both host and contributor in these discussions about the all-time greats. Doesn’t hurt that he’s got a great voice for podcasting. Have fun listening to people having fun talking about great movies!
