HazyRigbyDon't pass this up!I don't know how anyone could dislike this podcast. Rick is smart, funny, engaging, and informative. I'm not a trainer, just your typical gym rat, but I've learned so much. Thanks, Rick!!

Katie- Above the Bar FitnessNot a FanI took my NASM certification a couple years ago and I have never used ANYTHING from their training programs, OPT model, assessments, etc. I am really disappointed that NASM and other textbook certifications feel like they actually prepare aspiring trainers for a career in the fitness industry. Luckily I found another certification where I can talk to actual trainers in the industry who are currently training clients and charging $100+/hr because they weren’t just handed a textbook to read with absolutely NO support or hands on experience. 0/10 stars would NOT recommend if you actually want to make personal training into a career

tee_rocks1You have become my information companion.Hey Rick, I absolutely love your podcast and listen to you every morning and evening on my commute to and from work. You have a way of explaining things clearly, scientifically, but not overboard, and you have a voice that U enjoy listening to. Almost kind of like Matthew McConnaughey. Thank you for doing what you do and always capturing the essence of the topic in such a great way. Tess R.

GI_JanieFunny and InformativeOne of my favorite podcasts in health and fitness because most are dry, too long and monotone. But not Rick!!! I LOVE Rick’s humor and personality!!! I did not expect to laugh as much as I have so far. He presents the technical information in a humorous and yet informative way and I love his personal stories which gives great sound advice for how to improve your profession as a CPT. I’m confident that this podcast will help me prepare for my CPT exam and help shape my business in the future because I’m learning a lot while also enjoying and looking forward to each episode. Keep them coming Rick!!!

Shosh of Love Your RoomInspired me!Your podcast is so wonderful. You give really good advice. Just finished listening to your ‘why not me’ episode, and I loved it. I just passed my test and became a CPT. I used to think ‘what business do I have doing this’ because my background is not in the fitness industry. Pushing limits that only you put on yourself is something a lot of people struggle with. More people like you help people like me find more joy. Thank you!!!

Lawrence BiscontiniA Great Overview of PresentingHere is someone’s else’s take on the question we all get as presenters every day: “how can I be a presenter?” I love how Dr. Rick address is two of the four possibilities to become a presenter in 2023. Bravo.

Leave and push forward“Used to could injuries” /consistencyI love when an episode meets me as a PT where I’m at personally and encourages me to continue to help my clients at the same time. Personally deciding to leave a few of my old gymnastics tricks behind recently (now age 49) as I too was taking a step back for at least a year repairing micro-tears. Pushing forward with emphasizing consistency as in shorter duration stretching sessions, but more frequently throughout the week has been my push always with clients!!🙌 Love Exercise Science too!!🤓

Insidious19You’re Not Going To Believe ThisFor context, the only connection I have with NASM is that I’ve already passed the NASM CPT exam after taking their premium online guided course. I only began listening to & watching Richey’s podcasts after passing because I felt weak in knowledge in some areas. You’re not going to believe this, but…I would’ve paid double or more for Dr. Richey to teach me through podcasts like this one. Just throw out the course and let Richey take over. Why? Because Richey’s attitude & approach to learning makes learning fun. And he’d shrink the amount of study time needed by many hours. His positive attitude doesn’t make learning feel so dreadful (the course & textbook was pretty dreadful & uninspiring to me). He has helpful methods of learning and remembering certain things. His knowledge is inspirational. I’ve emailed their student questions team about concepts he’s talked about (trying to reconcile perceived conflicts between what he said & the book and whatnot), and Richey has really helped me consolidate important concepts. He seems like a true role model for CPTs & everyone else & I thank him & the podcast team for being my MVP in my fitness career.

Ms. PisellipeaInformative and InterestingI started listening to Rick’s podcast as I was studying for the NASM CPT exam over a year ago. I had no idea, most of the time, what he was talking about because I didn’t understand a lot of the terminology. However, the reason for listening was not to necessarily remember what he was saying but to become familiar with this new language. It certainly helped my studying immensely. Since then I passed the Exam and I continue listening to these podcasts every week but now I actually understand what’s being discussed. I love the humor, humility, and humanity that Rick brings to the table. He reminds me of my own sons and their love for people and their passion for their individual gifts. I appreciate and enjoy every topic and look forward to the next. I rate this podcast as a 5 star Triple A+. Every trainer and trainer should be listening.

darlingdriscollWhere’s the personality?Listening to this is like I’m literally listening to a textbook. So monotone. ZERO personality. Great information. TERRIBLE presentation.
-
HakdklclahhskcosnvajaiskNASMThese podcasts have been EXTREMELY helpful. I seriously don’t know how I would fully understand all of the info without these. Thank you!
-
RrhinehartSo helpful! This podcast was super helpful while studying for my CPT certification, I used it as a study guide while following along with the book. Rick uses humor and tips to help you remember certain topics, he helps you view concepts in a different way which helps to understand it better. If you are taking your CPT exam I highly recommend using the reviews.

Janiewaney12345Helped me pass NASM CPT examI absolutely love this podcast, he explains things in such a way where it's not just pure science going in one ear and out the other but he really makes it really makes sense. he is so personable and relatable. I have ADHD, so studying straight out of the book with no explanation is hard for me. His auditory explanations and the visuals he gives when explaining a concept have helped me tremendously. If you are studying for your exam, or even if you're not and you just want to know more about these topics and really actually understand what's going on, you need to listen to this podcast!

AirbrushGaryFantastic Content & DeliveryThis review is coming from someone part way through the NASM CPT7 course. I’m 48 yrs old and have not been to college in over 20 years. The CPT7 course has its challenges and Dr Rick Richey breaks things down clearly, covers Persomal Training business topics I’m often wondering about, and his tempo is perfect. He can explain things in layman’s terms and break them dine even further in ways even my not very educated brain can comprehend. I also like his topics of choice. I like this podcast for personal enrichment as well as future career goals.
-
iweinertA must on your podcast listI anxiously await each episode.Dr. Rick Richey is such a great teacher. He can take a very complex subject and make it simple and interesting enough for a child to understand it. Anyone who trains themselves or others should definitely be listening to this podcast.

VeganMom3Girls💪Love this podcast💪Listening while going through the NASM CPT course. So helpful. Clear and concise info.
-
missy sissy akSo informativeDr Richey fills each episode with a plethora of take away nuggets. Even when he presents a familiar topics there are pearls of wisdom from his guests and him that deepen understanding and prompt further explanation. AND his delivery comes over like a buddy at the bar, but with years of study and experience to make it valid.
-

-
abetranFantastic information!Great podcast to listen to, especially for those studying for the CPT & GFI exams!! 🤘🏼
-
@doctor_BBTExcellent podcastI’ve known Rick since I started as a personal trainer since 2007 - he is one of the best personal trainers and teachers! Brilliant guy and an even better educator.
-
MizzouGirl07Exceptional content, clearly explainedThis podcast was instrumental in helping me pass my CPT exam! Rick does an amazing job explaining topics covered on the test, and dives deeper into other subjects that help tie everything together. Anyone who’s taken the test knows it’s not just about memorization, but applying what you’ve learned, and listening to this helped to apply concepts to real-world experience.
-
LovelymisslauraA listening must for NASM CPT students and beyond!I started listening to these podcasts just before I started studying for my CPT last year. At first I thought I was in over my head... all these foreign words the host, Dr Rick Richie, was using were terms I thought I would NEVER understand. But Rick has a great way of explaining things and slowly but surely things sunk in! Two months later I replayed that seemingly impossible podcast and could actually understand 95% of what was being said! Now I’m a CPT I still continue to listen to the podcast as the new content is always interesting and varied. (It’s also nice to revisit the old podcasts and make sure I don’t forget what I learned!) Thanks NASM & Dr Rick Richie for the valuable content!!!

harttuunContent good but poor soundWork on more quality sound and less umms. Make it better to listen to.
-
mnbrickSooo good!!!The whole series is excellent! Rick breaks things down so nicely (in a very logical way). I’m pretty sure that I passed my CPT exam thanks to his episodes on the overhead squat assessment 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Aminj5791Great informative podcast! A must listen! This is will probably be the only podcast review I ever leave but I had to - this is an incredibly informative and fun podcast to listen to!! I had been searching far and wide for something like this. I was sick of the fitness podcasts that spent 30 minutes talking about nothing or just BS-info before getting into the meat of the episode. Not to mention the 8 mins worth of ads (which I understand!). I didn't tune into hear about what happened today in your life - let’s just get to it. I wanted a podcast where the information could help me be better and fitter in the gym but also expand my knowledge set. Rick nails it by the language he uses to communicate the topic (easy to understand for non fitness and fitness professionals alike). He makes it really enjoyable to listen to and keeps it interesting with relatable topics. Look no further if you’re like me. I binge listened to all the episodes in just days (lots of quarantine walks!). Listen to this! Get informed :)

pdowd369Great info, poor soundHey, great information and great guests you have on. You make complicated subjects as simple as they can be. The only qualm I have is the audio. You might have time restraints or something, but either you or your guest are always sped up. The words come so fast that with longer words or more technical topics, I cannot understand what is being said. Other than that, it’s great
-
Wog75Awesome! So helpful with test prep!!I love this podcast and Rich is very helpful and easy to follow. The real world examples really help solidify the book learning and as an auditory learner I am SO happy I found this while studying for my NASM CPT!!!!! THANK YOU!!
-
XtinepashleyBest podcast for fitnessNot only has this been my go-to lecture for prepping for my CPT, but I listen to it because it fun to learn. My own fitness has improved significantly. Rick is witty, puts very technical info in understandable terms. I do have to pause it often to let all the jargon sink in. But it’s a great way to learn it. Better then the NASM course video lectures. Thank you for making these! Keep them coming!
-
NessPennSo helpful!!I’m so glad I found this podcast because it has really helped me fully understand everything as I’m studying for my exam! 10/10 would recommend listening even if you’re just interested in health and fitness!

purchasekCPT NeedI think this podcast provide more insight into what we’re all trying to do, become the best personal trainer for our clients. I hope to hear more in the future and would love to hear an episode about balancing a busy schedule so everyone can benefit, eg. single parent working full time, trains on the side and has two preschoolers, or even a more stable and mature family. Thanks for what you do, keep it up!
-
Shabana22LoveI feel like I’m getting the extra extra outside of the CPT curriculum. Must listen.
-
LogancoreMore please!I’m currently studying to become a CPT and I love this podcast! It’s great the way you present the material. I find it helpful to get the book take and your take on the material. Well done on presenting the material in an actual sense and then break it down from personal experiences. Great job!
-

Sammers87Very valuable! This podcast has helped clear up several concepts I have been struggling with as future NASM certified CPT. You are also so engaging and fun to listen to. One topic I would personally love to hear more on is cardiorespiratory training and periodizing that training. Thanks for the awesome content!

-
BboettcherThank you!I really like this as a follow up from the CPT and CES course. I love learning and applying new information. When I took both courses, I was only trying to pass for the most part. Now, circling back I continue gathering information that I use with my clients each day. I work with an older clientele with many different obstacles in their paths. These podcasts help me greatly.
-
Roni_AAssessmentsThis podcast is such a life saver! i signed up for the online only course and being able to listen to an actual human while prepping for my exam is helping me to understand assessments and muscle groupings far better. Would love it if you covered “arms falling forward” maybe this week? hint..hint wink* Either way i hope you keep up this engaging and informative podcast!
-
lacas.pelchMemory JoggerThank you for this content. As a recently certified Personal Trainer through NASM ‘The Importance of Being Certified’ episode was just what I needed to hear. Every episode has been so informational and appreciative of NASM’s approach to continued learning.
