    Poor podcasting
Very boring. The story is interesting but the storyteller didn’t do a good job. It’s clear they don’t care about podcasting and care about guiding you to their tv show.

    Nope.
I literally fell asleep multiple times trying to make it through this. Could have been so much more interestingly told or analyzed. Also, got to the end and I thought “well that was pointless” the trailer tells you everything in this case..

    Why so long
This story does not need to be told in 7 episodes. It can be told in 45 minutes. Go to crime Junkie. They are much better

    “Eric did this” Nope
What evidence did they have that she was set on fire? Look at the picture of the vehicle aftermath, the front seat is pushed in. The car was crammed up the hill, the sides look wedged. “What happened?” “Who did this?” She responds “Eric this” Then everyone starts to add words to what she said. I bet that with her burned tongue, they misheard, just like she told the first responders her name was Jessica Thambers. She probably said, “ I wrecked this” , “I wreck’d” she couldn’t enunciate her lips burnt they heard Eric, they heard what they wanted to hear instead of “Iwreckedit” They need to re-examine the accident scene 5 years later, but with photos and measurements they would be able to do it. I bet this was an accident.

    How???
How do you make this subject matter so droll and boring. I couldn’t even finish the last 1.5 episodes because it was so uninteresting that I no longer cared about the podcast. It could have been a 1 hour episode of dateline or something. I’ll just look it up online and stop wasting so long with it.

    Jerry
    He did it

It’s “Jerry” not Eric (Jessica Chambers)
I just keep thinking when they asked her who did this to you, the EMT said she said “Eric did this to me.” They interviewed all the Eric‘s, & Derek’s, however the one guy by the name of Jerry who was supposedly rubbing his mothers feet, seems like she could have been trying to say his name is “Jerry.” She was in tough shape, Jerry to me sounds a lot like Eric or Derek. I agree with the other review in regards that the name sounds exactly like “Eric.” I hope someone is looking further into this possibility.

    Jessica chambers
How embarrassing for the expert speech therapist that came in on the second trial and said it was impossible that Jessica chamber said the name Eric well then how and was she able to say the name Jessica Chambers when they asked what her name was please and how was it that the defense lawyer didn’t ask that in the rebottle how could she say Jessica Chambers but yet you’re saying she couldn’t say Eric none of these people seem all that right none of them like the first jury that didn’t understand what unanimous meant Mississippi must explain it all

    Way, way too long
I have to say the story is very interesting and I really wanted to know more details. However, I was shocked after the first episode finished that it is a SEVEN episode podcast. This means it would take you at least 3 hours to get to the end. Do not waste your time. Might as well watch a documentary for less than half of that time. This whole story can be told in 30-45 minutes. The producers tried to milk the story all the way cash out on more ads but that made it so boring and the pacing was so slow. If u like and listen to crime podcasts, you know this should be a one episode story. My condolences to the family of the victim.

    Good story but…
The audio volume is inconsistent and it randomly cuts out to ads in the middle of commentary and then picks up somewhere else. There are several times it says the audio is bad so maybe having someone read a transcript would be better. Also, why are there so many ads for the exact podcast I’m already listening to? This podcast is good but could be so much better.

    No
Can’t with the first episode.. the reporter and the buzfeed reporter both objectified her & the buzfeed reporter was incredibly patronizing. This girl died, and this is a great example of what true crime shouldn’t be

    Frustrating
I just finished the pod cast & heard this story for first time today. I have a burning question/observation/suggestion about this Jerry King guy. Try saying his name with little to no movement of your mouth. Sounds dead on ERIC!! I’m shocked nobody said anything about that. Was Jerry King in her phone? Did he know her? I’m very very curious about this. I believe she could have been saying first & last name. Jerry King comes out as Eric. Try it yourself.

    Great story telling.

Story is interesting; production is atrocious
Finished this because the story itself is interesting but the production is so bad. It certainly feels like someone’s first effort is producing a podcast

    Good story
You have to listen to it in a quiet room on a speaker turned to max volume.

    Scorched Justice
If you like this case then you must listen to the new podcast “Scorched Justice” which covers the murder of Jessica Chambers and the murder of Ming Chen Tsiao. OMG episode one was just released. Absolutely horrible murder- reopened by a seasoned homicide detective and a multi award winning podcaster.

    Very well done!
Bingeworthy for sure. I hope Beth does more. Love her!

    Good story, horrible sound editing
This case and story was very interesting. The interviews and details definitely captured my attention. The major issue was the inconsistent volume!!! It was almost unbearable going from overly loud to hardly audible. Whoever was editing did not account for the MAJOR volume differences throughout each episode!
  • XxKayteekilljoyxx
    No coverage of the victim
I feel like the victim was a stop along the way in the story not really a main topic, felt like it was all mostly centered around court

    Good but hard to hear
Omg the podcast was well narrated! Just wish the audio was louder. Had my AirPod pros full blast and it still was hard to hear.

    Boring
I hate to call a podcast about such a shocking, sad crime and death boring, but the podcaster added nothing of benefit to this story, whatsoever. It was far too long, mostly consisting of court testimony.

    Questionable Comments
Some of the comments made throughout were sick. It’s clear who’s racist.

    Disappointing
This lady did little to know research or investigation. Justice for Jessica would have been making a better podcast. This was a truly horrific crime though, I feel terrible for the family. RIP Jessica Chambers

    Promo not needed
Why would you put promos for this show within the show? I’m already listening. Great story. Poor investigation. More questions remaining than answers because it doesn’t sound like the police did their due diligence.

    Waste of time
The facts presented here could probably be read in about five minutes online. This was a long series to basically say it was a hung trial. There was no intriguing theme or perspective from anyone that left you with a significant feeling either way. The fact that Jessica was burned alive and survived long enough to get help was so graphic it pulls you in but as a true crime series it’s long drawn out to nothing…. “meh”.

    Jerry King: guilty!
If you try and say Jerry King with a swollen, inflamed, fire infested airway, it sounds a lot like Eric. Sounds like Jerry King is protected by his informant girlfriend.

    Riveting
I already knew a lot about this case but I still couldn’t stop listening. I binged it all in one day. My heart breaks for everyone involved. I pray that Justice will be served, but we still don’t know if Tellis committed the crime.

    Beth Karas
Beth Karas, you are THE BEST! I have been watching you since the OJ Trial. Everything you do is exquisite. You are an amazing investigative journalist. I trust your work and today that means a lot. Bring on more podcasts please.

    Duh
Was Jerry ever checked out (the guy who found the keys)? Jerry sounds like Eric if you’ve got mouth injuries and can’t speak well.
  • PokeHunter123
    Narrator
The narrators voice is so monotone and boring I managed to make it through the series but struggled. Each episode was also very repetitive.
  • whilingstages
Interesting story but needed an editor
Interesting story and I didn’t mind the narrator’s voice. I skipped through most of the trial audio because it took sooooo long and was repetitive! Nearly a whole episode about finding Jessica’s keys, which in the end didn’t amount to anything. This series could have easily been 2-3 episodes and would have been a more compelling listen.
  • Bminder
    I think…
It was known that Jessica sold pot and pills. She knew her killer was Eric but didn’t know his last name. I bet Eric was her supplier and she owed him money she couldn’t pay and he killed her.

    The voice
The voice of the narrator is absolutely horrific! How this woman gets jobs where her voice is heard is beyond me.
  • Xxdris_kinglionxX
It has its ups and downs.
I loved the 7 episodes but it had no closure I'm a big fan of all mystery's and hope one day i can help solve them.

    INCOMPLETE
If you like a good story without an ending or resolution, this is a podcast for you. I would have not started this one if I had known it’s an incomplete story.
  • swooosh!!10
Can you start at the beginning please?
This podcast doesn’t follow chronological order or even start at the beginning. So if you’re like me and want to listen to the story, maybe this one isn’t for you. I had not yet heard of Jessica Chambers’ case, and now I have to find out more from somewhere else. Let me summarize the first episode: this poor girl is found basically burnt to death outside of her car, then it talks a lot about people in the town and racism, followed by how social media was a huge factor in the case. The first episode ruins the whole story because the narrator does not tell one. I still don’t know what the circumstances were surrounding this horrible death, but I certainly know how much facebook was involved. Huge let down.

    Foolish correlations
This could have been very good. But when reporting, there needs to be tactful attention paid to comments linking “conservative” to “racist agenda”. Using a broad reference like that and implying, in a general way, that conservatives are racists completely discredits the integrity of the podcast. Unfortunate.
  • Trudy985
    Great Podcast
This was a great podcast and really showed both sides. I hope you come back when there are more developments.

    Great story
I thought it was good. For those who say the pod cast is focused on racism, it is very racist so this should be mentioned even Jessica’s sister said it’s black vs white with this case. Looking at all the evidence I do not believe he did it. I believe the prosecution made a poor case and the detectives that investigated this case from day one did a horrible job and I mean horrible!! I’m an investigator in a prison and would have done a better job than what they did. If Tillis did do it it was the prosecution and detective work that allowed him to get away with it. Also, I do believe the prosecution should have been charged for misconduct for asking the inmate to testify that Jessica called trellis Eric. Very good podcast thanks!!
  • Jacebubeckmoose
    Frustrating
Speech pathologist says she couldn’t say Eric but was capable of saying her full name ? Weird. Also. Set on fire while sitting but was walking out of the woods yet no mention of woods being investigated
  • TNelly7
    Meh
This podcast does some good reporting— I was definitely interested in the story. I did not like narrators voice— she is not a good fit for a podcast that relies solely on audio. It’s nasally or sounds like she has a frog in her throat (sorry girlfriend, this shouldn’t be your thing). I had to raise and lower the volume throughout the whole thing because the sound is not consistent. That was super annoying. Obviously the narrator is biased, but I kind of agree with her so it didn’t bother me too much lol. However I don’t think it was solely based on racism. Overall, it was fine.

    Good
The podcast itself is good and I don’t know if my opinion matters cause what I say can’t change the case but what if she is saying “jerrick” instead of Jerry King or I wrecked but because of the severity of her burns she couldn’t say all of the word. I don’t actually know, it was just a thought.
  • Szatv
    Racism!!!!
This podcaster is extremely bias and can’t get over her own racism. Most people are not racist and once the podcaster started calling people racist because they don’t have the same politics she does, I couldn’t listen anymore. The podcaster herself seems like a racist. Oh, you don’t like to be called racist? Well don’t call other people racist then. This has nothing to do with racism.
  • Missmoesie
Conservatives are “racist” according to this podcast
As a Native American & Portuguese conservative I find it offensive you labeled ignorant racist “conservatives” Being a conservative does not equate a racist. Do better!
  • lucia_pumagirlforlove
    Was amazing
Even though I’m a kid I love true crime and this was a great podcast for me I just love it
  • Gypsy743
    A different host would help
I couldn’t finish the first episode of this because of the host’s voice; which has a harsh timbre with hypernasal resonance. It’s physically painful to listen to. A podcast series -which is a purely auditory medium- should be hosted by someone with a pleasing (or at least non off-putting) voice.
