mary ann with no eFascinating podcastJust realized I haven’t written a review of this great show. Thanks for the wealth of knowledge and insights into a fascinating era.

jba314Love Natalie’s VoiceGreat variety of subjects and guests. I love Natalie’s voice.
-
Obey&ServeFantastic show!I can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet! This podcast is an absolute delight. Natalie is a gracious host and really makes you feel like you’re listening to a cozy (but very informative!) conversation over a lovely cup of tea. I’ve been listening since the very beginning and it’s only gotten better and better!
-
Sometime ListenerExcellent podcastWell-researched and well-produced, this podcast has the added benefit of also showcasing the books and research of other historians. It was through this podcast that I discovered Natalie Grueninger’s excellent book “The Final Year of Anne Boleyn,” which is both highly detailed and extremely accessible, and beautifully narrated in the audiobook version.

sackings5GREAT!I look forward to EVERY episode! Very informative with perfect guests that cover all things interesting about the era! Great podcast Natalie!

Happy healthy fit meBest Tudor Podcast - Here is WhyNatalie knows the Tudors and she knows who knows the Tudors. These experts are those she brings to us via Talking Tudors. Natalie is one of the few podcasters that lets her guests do most of the talking. And she weighs in with points of view and asks great questions. I appreciate when Natalie expresses her own excitement when hearing new evidence-based history! Now that I am a Patreon member, I am enjoying even more - zoom calls with authors, book club and more. ENJOY!

I ❤️ Percy JacksonHistory Lovers DreamI love this podcast, Natalie is an incredible interviewer and source of knowledge. Her guests are fascinating and she not only goes deeper into popular topics, but she also introduces you to many fascinating side characters and stories. She always asks the right questions and much like her books she is incredibly historically accurate. Cannot recommend this podcast enough!!

Kat SpeerA dream come true for Anglophiles!FANTASTIC! I learn so much in each episode. The caliber of guests is just amazing. This podcast is a dream come true for those interested in medieval history. ✨

PeetapixEpisode 206I love - indeed crave - the information and history that you bring to all your podcasts. However I feel compelled to mention that interviewing people over zoom, FaceTime or Internet, brings the quality of the audio down to such a low bar, that in this particular episode, I could barely understand your guests. Just a muffled underwater wallowing. A very simple remedy would be to have your guests record themselves, very simply on their iPhones using the record app (or invest in a recording device) and after the interview, they could email you the file and you would have a much better quality sound to mix in, in your edit. I’ve had to pick and choose your episodes, because your guests are often driving me insane with how muffled they are.

TboneMcCoyTalking Tudors GuestI love Natalie Grueninger but her guest this week Professor Estelle Paranque was awful. She was so wound up about her subject (Anne Boleyn) that I stopped listening to the podcast half way through. By her own admission she’s very passionate about the subject but really? I was looking forward to the topic but it was so hard to listen to - understand she is a scholar of repute about Anne Boleyn. She came across more as an excitable fan girl and not as a scholar. Disappointing.

BryceA1996One of my favsOne of my favorite podcasts, ever!
-
Tricia Jones, USAPeerlessWithout question, this is the best-researched podcast on the topic. The host is a skilled interviewer and scholar. The guests have excellent credentials. Yet the episodes are presented with color, verve and that certain something that connects us all in a shared passion. I look forward to each episode.
-
Fezziwig's BallExcellent highly curated podcastThank you for this wonderful finely curated podcast. Every episode is carefully thought out and presented. Highly recommended!
-
Elliot OracleThe Best Podcast on Tudor Times!I love this podcast! Hearing from the top Tudor Scholars assembled all in one place is absolutely brilliant. Natalie Grueninger is a treasure to all Tudor history lovers and I can’t thank her enough for creating this platform.
-
DdolleroCould do without the music and long introI do love the podcast, but I hate the almost 10 minute intro with the music.
-
Hopeful2935Episode 223I’m just listening now to this episode. That was done in September. My first comment is that while the information was very good the mail over spoke his colleague during the entire interview. Whenever she would begin to speak, she would talk over her. Perhaps couples doing an interview or an episode don’t work well.especially if one is wanting to be heard more than the other
-
MegaStar23!Good, but kind of disappointingLove what I’ve heard so far, I just wish I could start at the first episode not 100 episodes in because I know I’m missing a lot of information
-
readinginthesouthOkayInformative but as an American I have a hard time understanding the English accent
-
SmrgrlA brilliant discovery!I’m not sure how I came across this absolutely lovely and informative podcast. Perfect for all history lovers who appreciate the minutiae of all things Tudor England.
-
daniboleynA gem of a podcastNatalie’s Talking Tudors is what drew me into the podcast world. You could not ask for a better host or more distinguished guests. It is little wonder that it was my top cast of the year. It was a pleasure to journey with Natalie into 16th century England this year.
-
Zed_55Perfect +Amazingly fascinating history. Presented pleasantly, sincerely, and compelling. I love this podcast.
-
JanithMore like eavesdropping than a presentationAnnoying. The interruptions, and long winded diversions, do little to make for a well structured presentation of the topic. It’s more like eavesdropping on a long and rambling conversation of two people who already know everything and who make references to people you don’t know.
-
AnnieMW10Wonderful podcast for Tudor enthusiastsThis a great podcast for both armchair experts and casual fans of Tudor history. Even if I think I won’t be interested in the topic of a particular episode, I always end up enjoying it anyway. Natalie brings warmth and enthusiasm to her interviews and continues to find new topics and fascinating guests after 200 episodes. There’s always more to learn!
-
samm4210Talking over eachother. Was super excited to listen to the Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn episode…however the presenters were constantly talking over each other. The information was good, but I wish we could of heard from each presenter separately 🥲
-
jertgirlInterrupterGreat informative show . I love the scholars who study this and talk so eloquently about it . The only thing I don’t like is the woman who keeps talking over the male guest . It’s so distracting . Otherwise A+
-
rapp55John Fox is a male chauvinist of the worst orderNever have John Fox on the show again. Not only does he talk over his wife constantly but he is a male blowhard
-
brensmom2k12Love!I love the variety of topics discussed and different opinions and views on well know historical figures. The only thing that I would say is even remotely off putting is how it seems to bug Natalie if someone has different opinions about Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Anne Boleyn.
-
erinkellytweetsMy new favorite podcastI listen to a lot of podcasts; this is now my favorite. Natalie is a great host. She has compelling guests with varied perspectives and she asks great questions. I joined the Patreon so I could have additional content!
-
Lady of the LoopWonderful to listen to yet…Some episodes are barely audible.
-
Tucker CatPerfect for Tudor history lovers!!Natali is an absolute pleasure to listen to, and I love the various guests that she brings on. The material is fascinating, informative, and really feeds my hungry TUDOR historian heart. XO

StarbucksandstudyBack to the ClassroomIt has been several years since I’ve finished my Masters of Arts in history and I felt that I’ve had a hole in my life from the lack of historical discussion. Natalie’s podcast fills that role! I look forward to listening to a new episode every week that helps me think more about the Tudors and their time period. She has many topics and experts from new discoveries to how different people experienced that era to new stories of well-beloved figures. It’s literally like having a lecture in the privacy of my own car! I talk about it all the time to my coworkers and friends. Thank you for helping me get my history fix in each week!
-
bklneAt its best when it’s a true conversationI really enjoy this podcast and the wide variety of guests and topics it embraces. A gentle suggestion: occasionally when the guest is an academic, it’s clear that they are reading from a prepared script or an academic paper, rather than having a true conversation. That might be the norm for academic presentations in their discipline, but it makes the podcast feel a little canned. The best episodes are the ones where the guest is having a genuine conversation with Natalie - focused and on-topic, but also spontaneous and emergent, not pre-written.

Needham1533Super InterestingThis is one of my favorite podcasts on the subject of Tudor England. Grueninger is an excellent interviewer and the diverse aspects of Tudor history and culture that she covers have had me binging this podcast since I stumbled across it. My favorite episodes/interviews of the show are those that focus on important woman of the period, especially those that may not be given as much attention elsewhere. However, I also enjoy learning about Tudor textiles, their medical ideas, and how they celebrated the holidays. I also really appreciate how Grueninger interviews established historians and historians who are entering the field (i.e., completing their degree or entering the field from another profession). If you are a lover of history and/or the Tudors I highly recommend this podcast.
-
Eleanor AragonWonderfulThis sounds silly, but the host Natalie has the best podcasting voice you can ask for. It really makes listening pleasant. But most of all, it's well-researched and has a good narrative. A very positive place to escape to, never a mean-spirited pod. She also features nice little Tudor musical clips. Great guests too.
-
Jellygu4Good podcastExcept for that one Thomas Cromwell episode with the lady who said it was “gatekeeping” somehow just for people to express their opinions on certain things they like, don’t like, or want more of. I also agree that Anne Boleyn has been an over saturated topic. We want to watch shows about the other wives and I hope we’ll get that in the coming years.
-
EmilyanomalySo good but can’t hear you!Such a good podcast but we can’t hear you! Some episodes are so quiet, I end up giving up.
-
suzyq5604DisabilitiesAlthough I LOVE this podcast, there is much overlap Also COULD NOT UNDERSTAND woman talking about disabilities. So annoying had to give up.
-
car parking game playerInformative and enjoyableI’m so glad I found this podcast. I listen to other British history podcasts—Natalie’s is my favorite. Natalie’s kindness and warmth, added to her knowledge of Tudor history, is just what I need to hear! I also love the ten questions.
-
ms sierraTerrific episodeI am a great fan of this podcast and eagerly await each episode. I loved the most recent podcast on rival queens. Very interesting that no one has viewed kings in the same manner/style as queens. Sexism indeed. Referencing Kate Middleton and Meghan Markel illustrates how willing we are to accept popular opinion, shaped by the media, that one is “good” and one is “bad” and obviously they must be rivals. Our opinions of Tudor queens has been similarly shaped by well known or popular historical writings by folks with an agenda.
-
drm980Tudor Fave!I recently traveled again to London and viewed the city thru a Tudor lens. The host’s guidebook to Tudor England led me to sites I wouldn’t have thought of and greatly enhanced my trip. The podcast is refreshingly different from the majority of other Tudor podcasts and the information is well presented.
-
WusnikHighly recommendedI love this podcast, and as someone with a degree in history who is also the 1st cousin (17x removed) of Anne Boleyn I have a particular interest in this topic and Natalie covers it beautifully!
-
LaFraguaSound quality is poorSadly the volume level changes between guests and is rather of poor quality. Frustrating.
-
Jules5168Please fix the sound imbalanceMusic is very loud while speaking incredibly quiet. Please even this out!
-
S.Spector1SherrieGreat show - I love it! Natalie is wonderful and she has Interesting guests. I always look forward to this show.
-
Sad about priceAlways something new to learnI enjoy the varied topics very much. There’s always something new and interesting. And, I particularly enjoy the musical interlude.
-
BuhlteufelinA curiosity cabinet of delightsThe episodes that delve into topics beyond the royal court, like cunning folk, smithing, biblical bibliography and anything with Ruth Goodman, are particularly excellent.
-
LFinMaineInformative and fun podcastNatalie Grueninger has a real talent for gently encouraging her guests to talk about their area of expertise without being too academic. The guests speakers are all experts in their areas. This is a great podcast to listen to, informative but with a touch of fun. Not dry or boring. I eagerly await each episode.
-
Paxton212Wonderful podcastLike so many, I’ve always been completely fascinated with Anne Boleyn, so this podcast was a delight to discover. Even when the subject isn’t Anne it’s interesting!
-
EliLizGal789Tudor historyMy Tudor knowledge has grown so much because of this podcast! Love that the guest speakers are educated historians sharing the facts
