Used to be one of my favorite
There used to be good stories? But now they are boring. The other one he does with a woman is really bad.

    Tuesday Episode
Edit: 02/05/2025 Meredith needs to stop talking about deep subjects that she is not equipped to understand. She made another misinformed comment about parental estrangement. An emotionally intelligent person would know not to pass judgment on someone who has made a heartbreaking, heavy decision. Even if they are family, can we really know their full story? You lost a fan. Meredith had some very judgmental and dumb comments about drugs and alcohol. Issues with these things are usually a result of trauma and not character flaws. I have never smoked and rarely drink, yet I understand this. Get a clue, Meredith. You sounded as though you’ve never left your junior high DARE class.

Wow! I listen to lots of psych related podcasts and I’m in social work and I’ve never heard of this. Thank you so much for bringing this to light. Excellent presentation and compelling explanation of why and how people go through this. I can’t thank you enough!

At last, another interesting, well produced podcast that I can binge!! I literally thought I was doomed to utter boredom, and listening to S Town and City of the Rails! AGAIN. For the 5 th time! Happy me! Thanx! Keep up the good work!

    Scott is fantastic
One of the best podcasts I’ve ever found and listened to. Scott is an amazing interviewer and lets the person speak enough but also interjects at the right times . Love his personality and the stories he’s able to find and share. Love when he interviews people with interesting jobs (ex. The hospice care woman ) thank you for all you do Scott!

Could use “rebroadcast” in some titles.
I’ll get about 5 minutes into an episode and realize I’ve heard it before. I get that there’s updates included in the episodes, but some sort of way to differentiate new and older stories at a glance would be nice.

    Very well done
Great voice. Excellent questions. Fascinating stories.
  • meghie77
Love it mostly, recently with speed bumps …
Todays “Justine Feared her Brother” was the first time I had to stop your show. Please don’t allow guests to legitimize violence against women. I can understand love for your brother but her language was very anti woman. “Leaving women alone” will not help your brother’s violence and abusive acts. This is HIS responsibility and has nothing to do with women.
  • Soberlunatic
    Why?
I love(Ed) this podcast. I’m really frustrated with the other junk that’s being posted. It clogs up my queue and makes it hard to find the true episodes. I don’t need a random Tuesday question. Please go back to the way it was!
  • Freckles0901
    Keep the stories coming!
I love the conversation and interview style of this podcast. The stories flow so well and Scott asks the questions that I’m wondering about. His voice is soothing and keeps my interest. I actually listen to this podcast and not some others because I like the back and forth better than someone just telling a story. It makes it more interesting to me. This is one of my favorite podcasts!

    Best podcast ever!
This show is one of the original shows I’ve started to listening when I listened to podcast, and wow I haven’t find any other like! I love how Scott interview the guest, how compassionate is with them, funny and very respectful !!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️➕😃

    I love this podcast
The stories are interesting and stir many different emotions on me. Scott’s voice is very calming and I enjoy his interactions with the guests, they give space to the guest emotions and to tell the different aspects of the story.
  • Nikky Kelley
    Let the listener talk
I wish you would just let the guest speak. Instead of having such a back and forth conversation. It makes it so much more interesting. They are good stories, I just don’t need to hear you ask them questions or complete their thoughts.

Host is smart and compassionate, interviewing people who share a diverse array of life experiences. A cool window into other people’s lives and thoughts. Thank you!

    Great stories
Love it! Very well done and great stories. I’m editing my review to request more stories instead of these questions format that’s popping up all the time. Love the show just not the questions.

I just love this podcast, the storytelling format is the best! And I enjoy listening to Scott’s soothing voice as well.

    Tiger attack
Is it just me or was there no real description of the moment the tiger stopped attacking? As soon as the narrator mentioned he was going to use the flare, the episode went to an ad and we never found out how the tiger retreated. Very unsatisfying.
  • kimmi429
    Thought provoking!
Love this podcast! Love it🥳 Loved the episode about Mike and his ostomy . So many great questions answered. Thank you for bringing this episode to light more!!! LOVE YOUR SHOW!!!

    Currently disappointed with episodes
I Absolutely love this podcast and it’s host but, recently all the episodes are the Q&A and are very frustrating. To say the least it’s very underwhelming. I love when you are putting out actual stories not these crazy questions. I have a subscription and this is not what I want to pay for at all.
  • Jana1469
    5 stars but disappointed.
If you read this review before I redid it, when I was still a little sour, I apologize. Love this podcast and I’m always excited and to see a new episode available to all listeners. Thank you. Your voice is so kind and compassionate.

    Ad free expensive
I support a few low key podcasts via Patreon. I’ve also purchased products from ads from podcasts. Wanting $5 a month for two podcasts a month an easy pass. Bonus 911 content is even worse. Ppl screaming at 911 not a good sell. Do better and charge less or have a weekly output.

Chris was not strapped in (came out on 2/16/2024)
I thought the lovely Swiss background on Chris’ hang gliding “snafu” looked familiar. When he later referred to the Interlaken Tourist Bureau, my hunch was correct. I worked 2 seasons in hotels in that region in the early 1970s (Thun Lake—between Interlaken & Bern and in the small ski town of Wengen) and daily felt grateful for the opportunity to live among that beauty for nearly a year. One of my brothers went there about 5 years later — he was also a cyclist and that’s where he tried “mountain biking” —which was totally novel at that time (late 1970s) — taking the ski lift up the mountain in the summer with his bike and riding “straight down” the slope! Who knew how popular that would become! I also appreciated that Chris “took the high road,” acknowledging that an accident can happen at any time. I would also experience “unplanned dismounts” from my years of horseback riding, but would always get back on, so I can also understand Chris’ desire to again try hang gliding😊

    enjoy the podcast
    Very interesting stories, highly recommend
  • Zil57790543
    Meh
The chosen episode topics are interesting enough but Scott the interviewer is quite cringy. The stories would be better received if they were edited and only the narrators voice was heard. Also they are too long and get into too much boring detail. Love + radio, is this actually happening, strangers are better examples of this type of podcast.

    Best podcast
I love this podcast. Very interesting and Scott is a great interviewer and this is a must listen podcast .

    “Saw the Hit”
Love this show but the “Saw the Hit” episode is laughable. We have an accident, the guest (passenger), the victim, another person with a phone, a nurse, a dispatcher, and a second dispatcher on another phone. The dispatcher told the guest she was in charge and the guest took that command to heart. At one point of the podcast, the guest, who has family and friends who are nurses (she is not), expressed anger that the nurse would not listen to her and the dispatcher. The only person on scene with medical training was trying to help and the dispatcher (most likely reading a checklist) and the guest (granted “AU-THOR-I-TY!!!”) repeatedly did everything to interfere with the medically trained person. Insane. The guest dismissed the host’s suggestion that the nurse was the person best suited for the situation. I empathize with your guest. She went through a traumatic experience and her description of the aftermath is familiar. The biggest takeaway is the aftermath. Listening to the on-scene descriptions and power dynamics at play was not fun.

Probably a good podcast normally but.....
"Karen gave birth in a Subaru" episode is the first time I've listened to this podcast. Karen seems to be aptly named. She comes across as cynical, rude, and not fun to be around. She complains about her in laws, the dispatcher, the ambulance crew, and the nurses. She literally tells the podcast host how she basically can't stand her mother in law. Lays it out there for anyone and everyone who listens. She's just so negative and I could barely finish the episode due to her being so dang cranky and ungrateful. Everything about her makes me want to never meet anyone like her. Seems like the type of person that would find fault in everything. Just gross behavior. Stefanies episode was very engaging at first but towards the middle/end she just comes across as so whiny and weak. Not about what happened to her, that's absolutely horrific and I'm no way, shape, or form, her fault, but about how she's worried what people will think. I don't think she wanted an abortion but her fear of wondering what story she would tell everyone, forced her to go ahead with it. She never took control of her own healing and when she finally got in therapy, waited until she only had 3 sessions left to tell her therapist?! Who does that? It's time for her to get a backbone, get ongoing therapy, and take control of her one life again. She said it ruined her life. It was one awful part, but she cannot let that one incident ruin her entire life! Don't give him that kind of power.

    Stories from work
Worst episode ever. You didn’t get any better stories?? The majority were not interesting, intriguing or even that weird. As for the rest of the podcast…some episodes are ok but Scott needs to up his game as he seems condescending and boring. I use this podcast as a filler when I run out of shows.
  • Rhiannonkrb44
The Host is Mediocre at Best.
The stories are always intriguing, but there is a condescending undertone from Scott. One of the first episodes I listened to was “Lex Couldn’t Stop Bleeding”. When they were discussing her profession (a lactation consultant) his tone implied that it was a joke, he then proceeded with “you see a lot of boobs”. This is the first of many times he undermines the interviewee. I’d love a host who respects his guests.

    Stop playing repeats
I’m always excited when a new episode comes out and I’m always disappointed when it’s a repeat. If I wanted to hear it again I’d go back and play it again.
  • 75lamc
    Great podcast.
One of my favorites. I enjoy how Scott interviews the guests. He asks questions but let’s them just tell the story. He always comes off as non biased which is refreshing.

Your last episode on her having a baby in Walmart. I was born in Kmart. I was named after the manager that helped deliver me. 😊😊😊

    Perfect podcast!
I recently discovered this podcast and it’s the perfect podcast! I enjoy the stories and find myself laughing and crying along with the guests. I love the uplifting nature and delivery of the stories, even when often times, they are such tragedies. But out of each tragedy there always seems to be something good, something beautiful. This podcast is a great reminder just how resilient we are. Thank you for presenting these stories in such a way that leaves us feeling better and wanting to do better.

I’ve listen to all of your episodes but 151 was a game changer. You took your interviewing skills to the next level. Wow. Great job!

    Compelling
Scott always has such interesting and articulate guests. He is one of the best hosts (and I listen to a lot of podcasts) because he always listens and asks questions that help us as listeners, understand very clearly what is happening in the story. Can’t wait for the next series to begin !
  • Meandmy6
    Exceptional podcast!
This is one of my favorite podcasts to listen to! Scott has a great voice but does not overwhelm the stories with his own thoughts or opinions like some podcasts. Every episode that I have listened to so far has great stories that are heartbreaking, uplifting, and inspiring. Thanks for a great podcast! (Makes my daily chores so much more manageable!)

    Technical issues
I absolutely love this podcast but I cannot listen to any of the episodes as I am constantly getting an error message when attempting to play a new one. App is up to date and I don’t have this issue with any other podcast. Also tried on Amazon Music and STILL have issues. Can’t seem to find a resolution.

    Five star rating definitely!
This podcast definitely has something for everyone. The first episode, I listen to was the guy who was attacked by a bear. The gentleman was blinded by his attack. I was so fascinated with how he pulled through his ordeal and did not let his blindness stop him from doing what he wanted to do. This had me hooked. I just love to listen to stories about people and how they deal with difficult situations. It’s very inspirational, sometimes very sad and Scott seems to treat everyone with dignity and respect never talking over them just letting them talk. Love it!
  • handbag_hobby

I look forward to listening to each new episode—such interesting stories and Scott is always inquisitive, compassionate and thoughtful. Keep up the great work!
