I love hearing the great stories from the past. I’ve been listening to this podcast sing early 2019 and I’ve listened to every show, won’t miss, in the words of Rick Houston, “no way, no how”. This is one of the few podcasts out there that still has morals and values. As a God fearing Christian its always good to hear Rick talk about Jesus Christ and not follow it up with cussing. Both Steve and Rick love the history of the sport and one day my 14 month old son will be able to hear about the roots of Nascar. Keep up the great work!

I had listened to Rick Houston dirty mo podcast and enjoyed it but heard there wasn’t going to be anymore. I was looking for something new to listen to on my commute and found this podcast. I started listening around September 2022 at the beginning and as of January 1st I’m on episode 132. This fills in so much of the history of the sport prior to being a fan. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the history of NASCAR.

Heck after the three-part series with Tim Brewer.I feel like I could call Tim Brewer “Brewer” like he was my best friend. That man needs to do audible books. He could makeWar and peace a great read.Pete Wright’s story if that don’t get you nothing will. and so on and so on and so one just so many great people on these podcasts. I grew up listening, watching NASCAR races and reading the Winston Cup Scene. I love hearing the stories of the guests this podcast brings to the table. Sure you can easily look up who won a race but this podcast gives you the behind the scenes stories that made NASCAR the sport it was. Keep digging, you are making a quality product Scene Vault.

These two Old school cool journalists are a lot of fun to listen to. Each interview can be very different and interesting. I love The history of NASCAR and I grew up going to races as a kid with my dad. My dad was a well educated PhD of English literature from Stateville, North Carolina. He told me stories of going to the races with his uncle Bob at the old Concord dirt track back in the 50s. Steve and Rick bridge the gap between those days and tell so many inside stories. I just really enjoy theSincere and genuine approach. I highly recommend you take a listen

My favorite podcast! Rick & Steve are the perfect pair to host this podcast. Glad to see that the talent that they brought to Scene is shining through on this podcast. They show that there are so many more than just drivers in the world when NASCAR was really special.

I remember going to my grandmas house every Sunday for lunch. The whole family was always there and always watching NASCAR racing. I Love everything about racing and it’s history. From the first time I listened to your podcast I was hooked. Every driver I have always wanted to know more about is on your show. Your interviews are amazing. I can’t get enough of your podcast. I listen to all of the interviews and go back to listen to the ones I have missed. The world is crazy, but listening to your show makes heart happy. Keep doing a Great job as always. I met Rick and his wife at Debbie’s Snackbar near where we live. I did not know them at the time but they were a friendly couple we exchanged conversation with. As Rick’s wife left I asked Rick what he did and that’s when I learned more about this podcast of which I’ve become a regular listener. These gentlemen do a wonderful job hosting NASCAR/Winston Cup/Busch legends. The conversations and history bring back many memories of my past as a fan. Just a note as an example of what kind of person Rick is, on his way out of this little gem of a diner Rick grabbed our breakfast check. Both my wife and I looked at each other and of course thanked Rick but never expected that. Thanks Rick for your podcasts and for our breakfast. 😀👍🏼

Found this podcast by accident and have enjoyed stories from the past and ideas on present day racing. From superstars that are still with us to other ones that have passed on I have greatly enjoyed all of episodes that I have made it through so far, and I am only about 50 episodes thru.

38 years old, been a huge Nascar fan since 1995. This show has done an awesome job catching up with icons of the sport that I grew up following, plus some from years before me being a fan, and learning about some I knew nothing about! Was very weird, a couple months ago, had a random “where are they now?” thought about Fatback McSwain. He was one of my favorite people in the sport growing up. 2 days later, I came across this podcast to see that Rick had just interviewed him, never hearing about this podcast before. Awesome powerful interview, and Ive been hooked on the show ever since! Im an over the road truck driver, so listen to your shows to get me down the road, keep it up guys its fun!

This weeks episode featured SCENE is dated the exact day and year I was born! Would love to have a copy of it! Can’t wait to listen to this today on my 3 mile run.

If you’re going to even pretend to understand the NASCAR of today, this podcast should be REQUIRED listening. I’ve been watching NASCAR for about 35 years. Rick and Steve dive deep into many of the stories behind a lot of the events that I remember, there have been so many mind-blowing moments for me. I cannot recommend this podcast enough.

I found this podcast by accident. Always heard of podcasts but never knew what they were. I’ve liked racing since the early 70s, and anything NASCAR related I’ll give it a try. I had subscribed to Scene back in the 80s and early 90s. After listening to one episode and finally understanding what a podcast was I was hooked. I have listened to all the episodes and usually when a new one drops I’m finished with it before the day ends. If your wanting the “real NASCAR” this is the podcast for you! Rick and Steve blend their knowledge of years of covering NASCAR with their behind the scenes experiences to bring out the best in what I believe was the glory years of stock car racing, the 70s to mid 90s. All the greats are here along with some you might have forgotten or never knew. It is WELL WORTH your time to go down memory lane and listen to The Scene Vault Podcast. It keeps you coming back for more! Rick and Steve keep up the great work!

As soon as I subscribed, I went straight to the Ward Burton interviews. I admit that I picked Ward simply because NASCAR isn’t the same without his voice. LOL. I QUICKLY forgot my reason and felt like I was in the room. The hosts have a command of the subject, bring a grasp of the history of the sport that is essential today, and they are so down to earth. I’ve found my perfect NASCAR podcast. Thanks guys. Oh, nice to actually get to know Ward on the episode!

Rick and Steve are just phenomenal on this podcast. They are accomplishing incredibly important work by capturing the stories from the sport’s former personalities. I’ve been a loyal listener, who subscribed to Scene from 1987-it’s end of publication, and I’m still amazed at what I’m learning each week. Rick seems to be able to personally connect with the guests and get them to open up on subjects without pressing. So many stories, behind the stories, have been revealed in during his interviews. I look forward to listening to this podcast each and every week. I sincerely hope the overall goal of digitizing the Scene library comes to fruition very soon! 🏁

Simply the best NASCAR related podcast. Focused on historical aspects with in depth interviews of former competitors, promoters, executives and more. Not even Dale Jr beats these guys with his own top notch program and I would bet my bottom dollar that a history guy like him never misses an episode. If you remember the good ole days or maybe you’re a younger or newer fan and you have heard some names Rick and Steve bring these larger than life characters to you and you can hear in their own words, who they were, what they did and how they did it and you’re gonna hear something that you didn’t already know, no matter who you are, guaranteed.

As a lifelong Nascar fan. I love hearing all the little tidbits of information they provide. I learned something new every week of the sport I love. The format of the interviews, breakdown and recap of the Scene issues. It wraps up everything together. I usually rewatch the races they cover.

Once you by the theme music, this podcast is a must listen to for any true NASCAR fan. The information and history knowledge contained in each episode is beyond belief!!

The scene vault podcast is the best nascar podcast that is out there.

As an avid reader of nascar scene for years. I have been missing a nascar publication like that. This podcast and the interviews are so amazingly done, and each with its own personal touch. I was so impressed with listening to my first couple episodes I have decided to go back and start at the beginning!! Thank you both for bringing the history of nascar alive again!!

A great resource for that NASCAR fans of the peak era of 1980-2002. A great throwback listen for when I’m in the shop working on the dirtcar. Keep up the great work guys !

I’ve been listening since the beginning and I have finally realized one of the coolest parts about the podcast, at least for me. After hearing many of the interviews and stories, I absolutely love going back and rewatching the races that are mentioned. Knowing the inside information about what was happening gives a whole new perspective of the race/season. In many instances it’s like watching a new race. Keep up the great work guys.

Rick Houston was my English teacher many years ago. He was the best. Now years later to hear about his experience with NASCAR and the history of the Winston cup series is amazing. This is a must listen.

I really enjoy hearing these history lessons about the sport I love so much. Steve and Rick have 1st hand knowledge of the stories they tell and I love hearing the history from all the guests who lived them. It’s great that there are people who care about and want this history documented for future and present generations to enjoy and learn about the sports past. Keep up the great work!!

I discovered the Scene Vault podcasts earlier this year. Listening to Rick and Steve reminds me of all the stuff I used to know about NASCAR from reading Winston Cup Scene the late ‘80’s and up. I also discovered Rick Houston is a NASA fan too. I didn’t think there was anyone else on the planet that loves both NASCAR and NASA like I do. I’ve already read “NASCAR’s Greatest Race” and I just ordered his books about the Saturn V and the space shuttle. Can’t wait to read them.

Excellent content. Well informed and just great to hear stories about the good ole days of racing. Steve and Rick continually get excellent guests on the show and asks great questions and it always sounds like old friends sitting down and catching up. Highly recommended!

Amazing podcast! I’m 28 and I’ve been a life long race fan and I’m a 3rd generation race car driver and i love the history of racing and especially NASCAR, and this podcast helps reconnect me to not only some memories from my child hood but it helps put me in my father, and grandfathers shoes with what was going on in their racing world before my time! Thank you for the stories and I hope they continue for a long time!!!!!!!!

I love The Scene Vault Podcast. I really enjoyed the interview with lake speed. I receive scene for many years as my first years subscription was a Christmas present from my uncle in 87. I still have that whole year in my garage as bill won the title in 88 and is one of my favorites. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for all the history you’re preserving. My dad and I collectively spent over 50 race weekends together at various tracks before his passing 7 years ago. He introduced me to NASCAR as a boy and I was a loyal subscriber to The Scene through most of the 90s along with being a lifelong Ricky Rudd fan. Many storylines you’ve featured were first told to me by him. Hearing them again brings back fond memories spent with my dad and his presence is felt with every episode. Thank you.
