As a Gen Xer (kid in the 80’s, teenager in the early 90’s) this podcast really hits that nostalgia sweet spot. Mike is super knowledgeable and seems to have a real affinity for the stuff he covers. My favorite part is when he covers specific holiday episodes of older TV shows. I love that I can listen to many episodes over and over again, like a favorite holiday special. The guests are a little hit or miss, most are great- knowledgeable and excited for the topic- but there have been a few who seem a little bored, boring, a little too giggly because they don’t have anything to say, or the worst- a little too “over it.” Most recently the 2 guests on the Friends episode who don’t understand how sitcoms work and have made hating things their entire personality. Bless Mike for holding it together and keeping the episode somewhat listenable. I will be avoiding these two in future episodes. Otherwise another great season! Can’t wait for July!

This podcast is doing the lord’s work. It covers holiday specials for every conceivable holiday every episode with fun guests and lots of extra trivia and info dropped. Mike is a great host and does his research before every show making it fun and informative.

I found this podcast in October of this year and have been hooked ever since. Mike has an extensive knowledge of the shows and movies he covers, and it’s great to learn about specials you’ve either never heard of, or be reminded of specials that you thought only you knew about. I’ve introduced multiple people to this wonderful podcast since I discovered it and I can’t wait to see what other holiday specials get covered on this podcast

After searching for something to quench my thirst for something that captures my love 80s/90s styles capitalism Christmas shows specials and commercials I finally found my people. Thanks guys for putting this all together. And being the voice of a generation.

I love this podcast! Mike has a great voice, he’s very informative, and very funny. I enjoy his many guests. This podcast has helped me discover old classics that I couldn’t remember their title. All I could remember was the one scene and he helped. He brings up the actor Hal Smith and I remember him from the radio drama Adventures in Odyssey. He plays John Whitaker, the kind and wise ice cream shop owner.

Mike does a great job of enthusiastically looking back at unearthed Christmas gems. Well-paced and fun!

I was surprised by what I had found to had been vulgar language in certain installments of this series of recordings due to the part of the World Wide Web I had used to hear them not appearing to have had warnings regarding the language and had found the language to had been unnecessary and detrimental to them.

Mike knows his stuff. This podcast is fun and educational. I feel like my trivia knowledge gets leveled up each time I listen.

Mike does a terrific job with all of his episodes. It is fun listening to him hit a variety of different genres and his guests are always fun as well!

Mike Westfall really comes to each episode prepared and usually with a great roundtable of co-hosts. I love how all season’s are explored and love some of the deep cuts that have been given attention that I don’t see other podcasts giving. Christmas-time episodes are the best!!

I love the show - very much looking forward to new episodes this holiday season. It feels amazing to know that I'm not the only one who remembers some of these off-the-wall holiday specials. And I appreciate Mike's willingess to weave through some of the sometimes-awful programming to find themes and meaning that explain why the holidays are so special to many of us.

I love the analytical and insider information that is given on the show. It is clear that a quick Wikipedia review isn’t the backbone of each episode. I must admit that i have only listened to the episodes for shows and movies that I have seen, but am diligently working to fill in the gaps. Great job

Mike is a great host with a lot of insight, but why isn’t there a Christmas podcast for moms?

Advent Calendar House is an amazing deep-dive into the holiday classics we all remember, and some we barely remember! Each episode is a joyful embrace and review of a different TV special. Some are classics, and most are hidden gems - but every one of them is done with love and care. In addition, it's actually okay to listen to this with your kids! My kids have their own individual favorites (my oldest loves the Mickey's Once and Twice Upon A Christmas episodes, my middle child loves the Muppet episodes, and my youngest loves the TMNT Christmas Special) while I love the Batman TAS "Christmas With The Joker" episode. Fun facts aplenty, thoroughly researched and well-documented, and probably the only podcast I listen to that I'm actually okay re-downloading to listen again! Enjoy, and watch out for that icy patch!

One of the things I love about podcasts is that they can focus on niche and evergreen topics. This show is a perfect example. There doesn't need to be new episodes every week, and it can drill down into great aspects of holiday nostalgia like specific holiday themed commercials. Great idea for a show and a really fun listen.
