    Part of my Routine
This one’s in my earbuds every week 🎧 I can always count on Heidi to tell it like it is and give realistic insights on freelancing in fashion. I can’t stand over-produced/fake podcasts so this one is fantastic. A genuine conversation!💃

Host brings out the best in guests
Great show for freelancers and entrepreneurs who want to learn from real stories, case studies, and overcoming challenges in the industry. The host Heidi lets her personality and experience shine while giving guests room to share valuable insights from real life (often from a surprising angle). Definitely check this one out!

Host Overtalks...let the guest speak without interruption
Very valuable information and great guest, however the hosts frequently talks over and seems to rush the guest through by taling over them and incessant "uh, huhs and mmm's". Just wish she would let them speak and come in when they've finished the thought. It's diistracting to the listener and I'm sure distracting to the guest.

Grateful for Heidi and Her Guests
If you’re in the freelancing in fashion space, this place is for you! So much valuable information to gain here. Even though I’ve skipped around and haven’t listened to all of the episodes, it’s helped immensely in navigating how to start and what to do next. I loved episodes 107, 177, and 192 in particular as they talk about how to set up your freelance contracts, expanding your network and niching down. I highly recommend giving this a listen.

    Changed my life
This show literally changed my life because it showed me not just that I COULD work for myself but gave me steps on HOW to do it with **real, live, bonified proven techniques from fashion freelance rockstars.** I had been working in the industry for over a decade at the time I found the show. I found the show by pure happenstance (looking for a fashion related podcast as a way of getting through another grueling day-in-the-life of a corporate designer LOLOL). I binged every episode and for the first time realized that the dissatisfaction I had in the industry was a shared burden. My freelance journey has not been 100% easy 100% of the time but it has been rewarding and full of more wins than losses. I wouldn’t have had the confidence to take the plunge if it weren’t for Successful Fashion Freelancer. I 👏🏽 JUST 👏🏽 LOVE 👏🏽 THIS 👏🏽 SHOW!!!

So grateful for this amazing content
Full disclosure, I am not in fashion design but my wife is an experienced fashion designer who has spent her entire career in corporate apparel design. After years of the grind, my wife is strongly considering a transition to freelance and all of Heidi’s episodes have been incredibly helpful to help us decide if freelance is a realistic option for her. Jumping into freelance after years of a stable job is very scary and nerve-wrecking, but the information and tips Heidi provides really helps to lessen the fear. We will be long-time listeners from now on! Thank you, Heidi!

Amazing insights into a typically closed off world
Have listened to a number of interviews to date and love it! Working to launch my own shoe brand, and it’s very insightful to hear experiences from other founders who have seemingly made it. The highs, lows, watchouts, and interesting stories along the way are insanely valuable. Hopefully I can pay it back and make my way onto the show at some point. Beyond the insights, it’s well produced and highly engaging. Highly recommend it.

My appreciation for you stands tall as Mount Everest!
Ms.Heidi!as I can not stress to you enough how thankful I am for all the hard work you and your husband (Tara your assistant too!) put into this podcast. As a current Fine Arts/Architecture/ Fashion Design student I am literally swamped with textbook curriculums so it is refreshing to find sanctuary with your episodes. Listening and taking detailed notes has become a religion for me as I launch my own brand using my limited savings and sphere of influence support system. Im learning the thru these testimonies of everyday people and you as well and I honestly don’t know how I’d learn the non-academic know how’s. without this incredible platform you work so hard to deliver to your following. 1 episode per day is my goal, and I will follow that up with supporting you by enrolling in as many of the courses you have to offer because I really believe in investing into myself via the gaining of as much knowledge as possible. May you continue to stay blessed, safe, healthy and successful! I hope to one day be able to help others by sharing my journey in the near future because I live by the philosophy, “Whats knowledge if it is not to be passed along to the generation which succeeds you ?” Respectfully Submitted by Antonio Pierre Lewis

    Best Fashion Podcast
I’ve been in the fashion industry for 5 (ish) years, entering it without attending a four year program. I so appreciate how Sew Heidi asks specific questions and really prompts (and empowers!) guests to share specifics around marketing tactics, getting funding, etc. The devil is in the details, and this podcast is MONEYYYYY. Real actionable info paired with longer term planning and strategy tips, and that is something so many other fashion podcasts lack. Thank you, Heidi, Tara and the team. -Brianne H

My favorite thing to listen to!
Every morning, on my agonizing drive to work, I listen to this podcast and it gives me so much inspiration and truly helps me get through my busy and stressful day. I listen to an episode on the way there and one on the way back. This is a gold mine of information with profound perspectives and relevant shared experiences and insight! You need this in your life if you love fashion design as much as me! Can’t wait until the next one.

    Great Episode for Latinos
Gracias Heidi!

Teaching me where I should even begin
As a new fashion entrepreneur with no experience in the apparel industry, SFD Podcast has been a lifesaver with asking the right questions and knowing what step to take next. Thank you for all of the engaging, interesting, and extremely helpful content. As someone who is currently looking to hire a freelance designer for my brand I’d love to hear something about that side of the interaction! Thank you and keep up the awesome work!!

Heidi just keeps serving it up!
For anyone interested in a career in fashion, this podcast is a must-listen! Every podcast serves up a insight about making it in the fashion industry. Her guests are great, but Heidi’s ability to interview are amazing. She crushes it! If I were on the faculty of a fashion design school or program, I would make this required listening. In fact, I would be teaching a class on this podcast to get students to listen and learn.

    informative podcast
I can honestly say that this podcast has given me a more clear picture of the different ways to become a fashion designer and be in the fashion industry, whether that be through working for a large company or starting your own business. There are so many ways to work in fashion, and so many ways to get into it, it’s just not a very obvious or easy path to choose. This podcast has helped me gain some more insight into it, and I would recommend it for other aspiring fashion designers.

    Amazing content for free
I love this podcast and I have learnt so much from it, from understanding what’s possible to achieve as a fashion freelancer designer to any technicalities such as contracts, details of the production process, etc. I have also purchased her course and I think all she gives is extremely valuable and very fairly priced.

    Amazing
Heidi is amazing and knows just how to get good info from the really knowledgeable guests on the show. I am only 20 episodes in and I have learned so much, I've even recommended episodes to some of my freelance clients who are new to the industry so they can get a better understanding of manufacturing processes. Insanely valuable. I wish I knew about it sooner.

SFD is a must listen for anyone in the industry!
I’ve been listening to the podcast and following SFD for about 2 years now. I kick myself every day for not discovering Heidi’s resources sooner. Had I know about her guides for Illustrator, industry abbreviations and terminology, and the overall advice given in her episodes, I would’ve saved myself a lot of stress and defeat at my first design job out of college. It’s been said a billion times but they just don’t teach you these critical things in design school. ❤️ Thank you for sharing your wisdom Heidi!
  • cstarr91

    Heidi gives all the secrets
As someone who has a BFA in Fashion Design, I can say with confidence that Heidi’s podcast is full of insider info that she gets from friendly amazing sources because let’s face it, this industry is so tight-lipped, it is rough to make it anywhere. Anytime I listen to this podcast, I feel like I can make it (and her courses don’t hurt either😉)
  • massafrass
    Generous and honest
Thank you, Heidi, for your generous spirit- it is contagious and has your guests opening up on their failures as much as their successes.

    Thank You!
HI Heidi, I'm relatively new to your podcast, and I wanted to leave my feedback because I think it's important to support designers like you who want to focus on helping other designers out there who are looking to make a positive change in the fashion career. Your content is highly valuable to me and I feel thankful because most of your content has helped me as a guidance of where to go and what to do. Thank you for your hard work you put into this. BTW I listen to your podcasts on Spotify, this how I got here.

easily the best industry podcast available
If you are in the fashion industry (or a related industry) or looking to get into it, this podcast will quickly become your guidebook, inspiration, motivation, fountain of knowledge and go to library. To me, this is as real as it gets. What the industry is really like and how to succeed in it....or even just how to define what success is. My favor episodes focus on sourcing...i’ve literally listened to the episode with The Sourcing District four or five times. This, coupled with Heidi’s online and tutorials or templates easily make her the patron saint of the real fashion industry.

    Everything you’re looking for!
I just stumbled upon this podcast but Heidi’s work is SO AMAZING! She doesn’t just touch on fashion, but literally every nook and cranny of the industry is being covered in her episodes and tutorials. I’m in product design school and almost finished when I found out I actually love apparel and the outdoor industry. I’ve tried everything on my own time to build my portfolio but i has no idea what I was doing. Thanks to her podcasts, I’ve had direction, I know how to speak the lingo, and I was able to get an internship that is leading to a dream job! I hope this podcast never ends, I love learning and feel like I’m learning everything I would’ve learned in fashion design school through this podcast and on the job. THANK YOU HEIDI!! Amazing work
  • MeGracey
