What a great show - I appreciate the insights the host and her guests share.

When listening to a podcast for the first time, I start at the beginning. They do often get better over time as the podcaster gains experience. This podcaster gets positive points for clearly stating that she isn’t an expert, that she is learning along with the audience. I definitely allow a lot of slack for pronunciation, scientific terms are often difficult to pronounce or have >1 accepted pronunciation. But, while listening to episode #2, I turned it off after the 5th time the podcaster said Watson-Crick-Wilkins were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. No. They got the Nobel Prize for Physiology-Medicine. This isn’t something that requires deep knowledge of molecular biology or difficult concepts, it’s straightforward fact-checking. Won’t be adding this podcast to my list.

Kira and her team produce timely and engaging content for both the layperson and expert alike. There are many great episodes to choose from and if you were looking to brush up on your understanding of genetics and how they are discussed in modern day society look no further. I highly recommend this podcast.

I can barely make it through one episode. There are tons of advertisements for peta, which has supported anti-research and anti-science terrorism. Peta also claim to be for animals, but they will steal and kill animals as has been in the news - look up Maya the chihuahua, r.i.p. It’s very offputting to try to listen to the podcast in between the excessive, uncritical peta cheerleading. I also found it to be too chit-chatty in general, and not terribly dense with good information on genetics. There’s too much emphasis on advertising/marketing here, and not enough on editing/organization and quality of information.

I’ve listened to every episode and learned so much! This was how I was introduced to PGx. My favorite episode was about Alzheimer’s and plasmalogens. I totally geek out on that stuff!

I have been listening to this podcast for almost a year now and I have to say the theme song is what caught my attention upon first listening to the show. It sounds very futuristic and is catchy. I appreciate this podcast and all the knowledge that it shares to its audience. As a prospective genetic counseling student, I found the episode where Kira and some other GCs discussed the application process and program very helpful in my graduate school journey. I am thankful to have this resource to turn to as a way to learn more about genetic counseling and the impact it has on families affected with genetic conditions. Hearing about new technologies in testing and patient stories has motivated me to pursue a career in this field. I look forward to listening to this weeks episode ◡̈

As a person who is specifically interested in becoming a genetic counselor, this podcast was exciting for me to find. The guest speakers are always interesting and a variety of topics are covered, not just those relating to genetic counseling, but genetics in general. The information is explained very well for a person who is not very familiar with all genetic terms.

Great show if you are interested in genetics! There are a lot of cool guests on and the host is good explaining things if you don't know a lot about science.
