True Crime #109

Imagine being wrongfully convicted for a crime you didn't commit, or imagine your child's killer is still on the loose even though there's enough evidence for an arrest. I want to help shine light on the injustices of our judicial system. I delve into court documents, attend trials, and interview those close to the case to help me tell their stories.

    Yep
Love my girl Jillian. Worth the listen, even if it's just an episode on a case you may be interested in. After that, you'll appreciate the work done here. Has similar traits to a court tv doc or coverage but without the repetitiveness. She's here to cover facts and if you aren't listening, welp, dateline you go... if they even ever cover it 😀

Lady, Thank you. I appreciate the work you put in
I came to love your podcast because of how it covered the initial Harvey Weinstein trial in New York. I would describe the coverage as disinterested. I came to believe that his trial was unfair, and even when he was convicted I thought the verdict would eventually be overturned. I repeat: I like your work. I’ve heard other podcasts coverage of the Karen Read case. I thought she was guilty. I have only heard the first episode of your coverage about this case. And I’m already ready to go out on the limb by saying there is no way the prosecution can meet the “beyond a reasonable doubt” measure. And I’m telling you off the top, I wanted to believe that she is guilty. But I feel about this case as I did about Harvey’s first trial in NY, there is no way you can establish “beyond a reasonable doubt”. The Police ruined that possibility.

    Great Podcast
Jillian is great and I love her voice. The Ray McCann, episodes were the best!!💚🏈

    Great Show
Usually interesting and well told. Lately I’m sometimes annoyed by the emphasis on cases in the media or involving celebrities. I would like more variety and lesser known cases

I love this podcast and the way the cases are presented. So much respect for the victims and their family. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Bravo!!!
I love ALL of Miss Jillian’s podcasts Even if it’s a well covered case she reveals more than others. She ups the bar for podcasters and never ceases to amaze me. Hats off to you Miss Jillian

The best! Even when ppl complain ;)
Jillian Jalali = the best on the mic. She and her team are top notch at research & presentation. I can’t imagine how much time goes into the production of just one of these cases. Other listeners really need to stop being butt-hurt that it’s bi-weekly. I was disappointed too, but JJ has a family to take of, which should always take precedence. Plz stop trolling with the it’s “too woke”, or covering “tired subjects”. Those complaints are played out. No one is forcing you to listen.

    It’s personal
Each episode is well-produced, thoughtful, engaging, with great storytelling that keeps you hooked. Court Junkie features interviews that add depth to the stories, making it feel personal.

    Well done!
One of my fav podcasts, from how you lay out the intro to the clips used and even the nice tone of your voice! So good, thank you for your content!

    We want more lol
Love the show please come back weekly 😪

    Too many commercials
I'm about twenty minutes into a podcast episode and I've listened to about seven commercials. Excessive.
  • Matt_B_W
    Tired old subject
I generally really like and respect the show. But, how can they offer a tired, played out case like Michelle Traconis? This has been covered ten times already. Yawn.

    #1 Podcast
I’m not one to write a review unless I am truly committed, and with Jillian I am just that. Every single one of her episodes are well thought out, and delivered. She doesn’t miss! I huge fan of everything she has and continues to put out. Keep up the amazing work!

STOP with the nationally covered cases!!!!
Please stop covering cases that receive national attention. This used to be one of my favorite podcast however I'm disappointed every two weeks with another episode that has been covered 10 other times by other content creators. It's very disappointing. Also disappointing that this turned into a biweekly podcast. This podcast is the reason that I got into true crime and sad to say I very rarely ever listen anymore because cases are just being overcovered.

    Stop frequently covered cases
This used to be my favorite podcast. I couldn’t wait until a new episode release was released. However, it has gone downhill. The cases covered are ones that are frequently in the media and have been extensively covered. You are releasing episodes 3 months after the case and there are already 12 other podcasts about the case. Please start looking for cases that are not well known.

I listened to your podcast about my grandmother and thought you did a great job! I sent it to the 2 detectives and they also liked it. It’s something no one should have to go through but your podcast gave me some peace knowing the outcome was guilty! Thank you!!

    a perfect true crime podcast...
good reporting...good voice...just good all around...actually better than good...excellent...i never miss an episode!

    Just reading
Jillian likes to hear her own voice. Apparently, since she just reads documents and does not seem to think it’s important to indicate she’s reading someone else’s words by starting out with “Quote…. Unquote”. This is Court Junkie, I want to hear audio from COURT! Stop reading everything in your flat tone and use more original recordings. Don’t you get enough patreon money to afford the FOIA invoices?

    Favorite Podcast
Presents the cases as they happened. I enjoy listening to Jillian. The cases presented are always interesting and have a broad net of topics.

    Great. Covers interesting cases intelligently
My favorite true crime show. Smart, insightful, detailed without being gratuitous. Week after week episodes have maintained their quality. They also manage to find lesser known cases and the ones we think we know about are covered from the legal perspective.

    I love this podcast!
Always well researched, professional, and respectful.

    Mom It Up
Been listening to this podcast forever. It is and always has been one of my favorites. The host speaks with integrity and also complete objectivity. Have always thought her work is spot on. I wish more reporting was like Court Junkie! Also, to the host, my shout out to motherhood. I was pregnant the same time as you in 2023 with my second child under the age of five and must say: take all the time you need. You are doing the right thing. Love your babies! Your fans will be waiting and appreciating the work you do as you can (and some of us loving our babies right alongside you)! Not that anyone asked me. :)

    Too Woke
I’ve been listening for a while but I can’t anymore. This host constantly portrays law enforcement as bad and acts as though every black defendant has been set up and had a horrible, incompetent defense even when the black victims have identified that defendant as the perpetrator. It’s just gotten old.

    Great show, horrible mother
You have a wonderful podcast. The last one that I attempted to listen to made me sick. Not because of the details but because of the ignorance of one of the persons mother. This woman named her child Kadafi. I am quite sure there are no signs of electrical activity in that mother's brain. That is insane. I was not able to listen to the rest of the podcast. Oh boy-

    Great Reporting
I love that the host is humble and respectful when talking about these cases. I miss civil!

    Maya Coverage
It felt that episode was very one sided. You failed to disclosed that the “Doctors” that gave her the CRPS diagnosis are not actually doctors. Also, Dr. Smith’s findings were not allowed as evidence during the trial, which is a huge part of why the COURT decided on the separation. The COURT, not the hospital nor Smith, were who made that decision. She also miraculously got better during and when she left hospital. It is also not the hospital’s responsibility her mother sadly decided to take her own life. My conclusions are my own after watching the Netflix “documentary” and numerous podcasts regarding the case.
  • Mama2lbg
So well researched and well done
Big fan of this podcast. Love her voice. Love the research. It’s a calming interesting show Not sure if you read these , but there’s one tiny thing that drives me bonkers. An item inserted into a semi automatic handgun is NOT A CLIP. It is a magazine. A clip is what you see in the army movies where the exposed bullets are quickly fed into the weapon
  • rosallea
    Exceptional
All the right ingredients, made more complex and complete by hearing court testimony. The host is perfect; kind, neutral, well paced and honest without distracting banter. Highly recommended and one I support. Thank you for sharing and for all the work you continue to do

    Superior quality
Like most people, I listen to a number of different podcasts within the true crime category. Whenever Court Junkie releases a new episode, I find myself listening to it before anything else in my queue. And yeah, they just announced that they’ll be releasing a new episode only every other week for a while. I’m undeterred. The production, story flow, and respect for victims are unmatched. This is a more serious storytelling format, but it’s not rigid. Just more objective, which I appreciate. Thank you for all you do!

    Sad
I’m so sad to learn that you will only be releasing an episode every other week! Buy I applaud you for setting a boundary to spend more time with your family. I also really enjoy Civil and hope that there will be more episodes in the future!

Best True Crime Podcast for Me !
Interesting, on point, good mix of actual court recordings. Found it about two years ago and have been bingeing ever since. That podcaster is moving to a biweekly schedule for all the right reasons is a big plus for this Mama.
  • MNfanatic
    Used to be my favorite
Jillian no longer does her own research and it shows. She had a guy filling in for her and couldn’t listen to those episodes. I’ll play episodes for background noise but I no longer get excited for new episodes.

    Great podcast
I have been listening to this podcast for years and Jillian’s voice is soothing and she is a great storyteller. Thank you *****

    Easy to listen to except
For the mispronunciations!! This woman is infuriating!! Please check names, legal terms and just words in general! Otherwise, not a bad podcast.

    Great Podcast
Jillian’s voice is so soothing! I look forward to every episode. She is very thorough with content and research.

    GREAT VOICE
A really well articulated and enunciated host who’s voice - in busts and over time - is really quite pleasant…vis a vis ASMR.
  • itinalouise
    10/10!
This podcast is one of my favorites! I am so happy every time I see a new episode! Please keep up the great work! Don’t change a thing!

    Court cases
It’s interesting to listen to the cases as they’re presented in court. The ads are frequent and very long, the host often asks for donations. Other podcast have ads but this one is a bit much
  • Talula8
    Sponsors
The podcast is fine and I enjoyed listening to the episode I did, however I won’t be listening again because of one of her sponsors.
  • BigBrianMcKnightFan
Ads on Ads. You are losing credibility
Host read ads are nice bc we trust the host..but you do to many: come on..ur even shilling for Harbinger who buys an ad on everyone’s podcast. Now I don’t believe anything you say you “love”
  • Ashleyyyyy34563
Good podcast but covers stories everyone else covers
I really like this podcast but it seems they are behind the curve in their stories - it’s like 8 weeks after a major case has happened, they are covering it. By that time, every other podcast and YouTube channel has covered the story. I’d suggest they cover other types of cases.
  • Nanadx3
    A really good podcast!
I found this podcast recently and am really enjoying it. I highly recommend it.

    Great podcast!

Easily one of my favorite podcasts
I love this podcast so much!!! I wish civil had more episodes <3

    Re case of James Scott
Would you consider looking in to this case? It seems to be a simple case of greed and a scapegoat. He was convicted (1992?) of causing break in levee in Quincy/Hannibal MO, resulting in significant flooding.
  • thelitunicorn
    Great podcast
I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts and this is one of my favorites!!! Jillian does a great job.
  • Bschora
Good show, but... PLEASE DITCH THE HYPED-UP ADS.
OH YES. THE WORSE COMMERCIAL ADS OF ALL. You know the ones I’m talking about, the fast food ads with 30-seconds of hyper-speeded-up blather disclaimers at the end? Dear God! Can I poke my eyeballs out now? THE WORSE. Four, five times in a single episode. It’s worse than commercial television. One Star Penalty.
  • loette58
    Great show
I just love this podcast it is well written and the host voice is soothing and I look for that in a podcast she’s straight to the point
