I loved this podcast but lately it’s very clear it’s become a free marketing channel for promoting an absurdly expensive book coaching program that mostly targets women. Gives me the ick.

I’m tuning in for the first time and listening to the 2025 Blueprint Challenge. While I can see the benefit for writers at all levels, this will be perfect for me in the revision stages. Not to mention the information and advice in the regular podcasts.

I enjoy the idea of learning my craft to the point that I can feel confident enough to get to work on a project. This podcast delivers information about the process of writing and structuring a story, in a fun and educational way!

Each week, with the release of a new episode, I know I’m going to enjoy an interesting, fun conversation with friends who welcome their subscribers into their world of words. These writers are generous with their knowledge, encouraging with their cheerleading, and practical with their suggestions. Love this podcast. Shownotes are invaluable.

Love these ladies. They are so seasoned and creative in how they approach the writing career. Listeners will have one author of the three whom they connect with most based on shared genre, but there is always a good, scratch that, many, takeaways.

Maybe i started listening at a bad time? I am in the ideation stage of a book and was so excited for the idea series. But the premise of the episode titles are not fulfilled, nor am i able to take away any actionable information, because of the meandering. I feel the book coach often is on the verge of delivering a great nugget only to be interrupted by the host or to abandon her thought in service of something the host said. The number of positive reviews lead me to believe these summer episodes must be an aberration, so i will check back in with this podcast in a dew months. 🤞🏽

In the crowded field of writing pods, this one is my absolute favorite.

I appreciate and value this podcast but in the past couple years I’ve noticed an uptick in the number of times a guest is interrupted by a host, or spoken over by a host. Especially apparent in the January 2023 episode with Julia Artz. Please try to stop interrupting guests! <3

I started listening to this a few months ago and quickly became a paid subscriber — it’s that good! Jess, KJ and Sarina’s advice and inspiration are a delight to listen to and are also a treasure trove of wisdom. Actionable, interesting and engaging.

I listen to tons of podcasts but #AmWriting is the one I actively seek out every week. The conversations are engaging and fun, the information is incredibly useful, and it always helps inspire me to “get my butt in the chair” - 5 stars all the way!

Love when this podcast comes out on Fridays, it is entertaining to listen. I like the interviews and the topics discussed but even more the way they are discussed, lightly in a friendly bantery way but without loosing depth and actual information. I love the book recommendations.

I seem to be late to the game in finding this podcast. Have listened to a half-dozen or so episodes in the last couple of days and am loving it. The hosts are relatable and fun to listen to, and the various writing-related topics and info have been super helpful. I’m looking forward to more listening!

I came to this podcast about 6 months ago and proceeded to binge-listen the first 100 episodes (!) or so. I am working on my first major nonfiction project and this podcast has done so much for me. I got help with Scrivener. I stand up and stretch between writing sessions to save my back. I keep my butt in the chair and my head in the game more often. I learned that I'm a big-O Obliger and I need accountability buddies (and bunnies!) to get the work done. The best part is that #AmWriting makes me feel less alone. Writing can be wonderful and exciting and fulfilling, but it's also hard, lonely work for an extrovert like me. Fellow writers (professional, amateur or otherwise), Jess and KJ are on your team with practical tips and hard-won wisdom. Nobody buys one book, friends. Keep going!

I love this podcast for a zillion reasons, but mostly because the hosts manage to impart useful information while keeping the tone real, funny, relatable and encouraging. It’s just the right balance of substance and entertainment. This podcast is for writers of all genres, and also for anyone with a side gig. They crowd source to identify timely, relevant topics and bring in knowledgeable expert guests. Highly, highly recommend!

This is a podcast for all writers. As an academic and aspiring fiction writer, I’m glad I didn’t let their primary topic (nonfiction parenting) dissuade me from listening because this is the place where I’ve gotten the best writing tips. The hosts are generous and funny and I love their dynamic. The best podcast for writers!

These episodes combine entertainment with useful information and helpful ways to navigate the writing world. Interesting and fun, which can be hard to find.

I discovered this podcast through a referral by Gretchen Rubin. I am both a published writer and an unproductive writer (lots of projects dying on the vine), and I wanted to surround myself with the voices of people who do writing all the time (the theory of "social contagion"). I have now worked through about half of their 134 podcasts in just a few weeks, which I think is testimony to how useful I find them. I really enjoy Jess and KJ's rapport and I get super excited whenever Sarina Bowen shows up for a guest gig! This podcast is a gift to all writers and wannabe writers, and I appreciate it.

This is one of those podcasts that I subscribed to and put on my mental list for later. I'm finally getting down to listening and now I can't stop. I am SO inspired by this podcast! I’ve listened to a bunch of creative podcasts by influencers and while they were helpful, none of them was quite right to my experience of being in the biz of freelance writing. When I found this podcast, it was the stuff of my dreams! Smart, funny articulate hosts with gobs of street cred, dishing out intel one episode after another. I’ve come late to the party and I am sooo enjoying the huge volume of cupcakes I’m still eating (catching up on all episodes using a favorite treat of Jess and KJ as analogy). Thank you both, Jess and KJ. You are generous with your time, your experience and your hearts.

Filled with essential and time-saving tips for any writer--professional, aspiring, or anyone just curious about the process. What I love most are the business-focused tips that respond to real-world mistakes Jess and KJ have made. And the reading lists are always fun. I've gone back to listen from the beginning after realizing that I missed some early goodies. A fun, informative goldmine.

So much good information, from two of the smartest, savviest writers out there. Just listened to the Book Launch episode and while yes, I do want to cry thinking about how much hard work goes into a successful book launch, I'm grateful to KJ and Jess for making it all so clear. Ever since learning about this podcast I can't stop listening, often while doing chores or mindless stuff around the house, or most likely while procrastinating and #notwriting. Perhaps it's where I am, but every episode provides content I need on writing (and the business component) related to nonfiction. Jess and K.J. are easy to listen to - like old friends hanging out. I'm jumping back thru past episodes - there are so many terrific ones, I cannot pick any favorites. After weeks of listening though I finally requested access to the FB group but first I listened to #impostersyndrome again...because, well, it kinda resonated. Hopefully I'll get over it.
