Stick to the subjectToo bad it’s not betterBad audio level controls combined with juvenile bongo drumming and terrible singing make this show impossible to listen. It’s too bad because the host seems to be knowledgeable and content could be good, if it were delivered in an informative and professional manner. Instead it is childlike and amateur at best.

eieieeeeeeeieeeeWell rounded and fun!Great source for information on cider and so much more! I especially love the cultural and human context, orchard care resources, and the special features on rare pomme fruits like quince, medlar, and sorbs! Plus it’s the only podcast I know featuring conversations with talking pommels. Keep it up!

CatJ99Awesome resourceRia is simply an amazing host that does a fabulous job. Her podcasts are professionally done, with real and meaningful interviews from people from all over the world. They’re informative whether you’re just beginning to learn about cider or you’ve been in the field for some time.

JD in RenoCider, nicely chilledI made my first batch of cider a couple of years ago, and soon thereafter found Cider Chat. The show is laid-back, a bit quirky at times, and always a fun listen. The show mainly centers around commercial producers of craft cider. Ria’s enthusiasm is contagious as she travels the globe, attending events and interviewing renown cider makers, as well as up-and-coming producers. In listening to their experiences, I have learned a lot of aspects of the craft. So once again, the airlocks are bubbling away in my cellar, and who knows, maybe someday I might be one of those up-and-comers.

OV MTBPure gold!!!For those that are passionate about cider, or even just interested, this podcast is outstanding. We stumbled upon this while researching plans to open a cidery. Cider Chat is a goldmine of information for those that are novice cidermakers to seasoned industry professionals. Ria’s fun and quirky podcast is simply the best compilation of cider information and references we’ve encountered. In the past month, we’re already 100 episodes in and are catching up quickly! Ria, we raise a glass to you and thank you for the tremendous work you’re doing with Cider Chat.

Dman5559Favorite Podcast! This is my favorite podcast. I began making hard cider last year. As a home brewer and occasional wine maker, this was a natural fit. I listened to a large number of episodes, got inspired. I started with 19 gallons from two local orchards, and 2 strains of yeast. I have been regularly serving my own cider on tap from my bar at home ever since. Ria- I love your podcast and share your passion. Great interviews, and great advice. Thank you!

wakeeleStep it up!*After giving them months of a trial more and having listened to most of their episodes, I just can't do it anymore. They are actually getting worse at it and more amateur. It's as if Ria is a failed local NPR children's show host. Maybe it's because I'm a broadcast journalist with the US military in addition to being a profressional brewer, but I've had to shut off the podcast more than once before it's over. I have to lower my rating now. I added this podcast to my quite large library of subcribed podcasts recently. After several episodes, I've noticed I find myself saying, "How do you not know how to pronouce that word?!?" Oh she really tries on the French words though. I've worked in the alcohol industry for several years and followed it for ever longer, so maybe it had something to do with that. Then, my broadcasting background has me yelling at my phone or computer at Ria's delivery at times. It just exhausting at times--so much so it almost puts me to sleep (and as a musician as well, I've spent MANY hours listening to sleepying string music without dozing off). The content: it's pretty good overall (it's why I still listen). Sometimes I wish she'd asked better, more pointed questions. I listen to A LOT of great beer and whisks(e)y podcasts, but I still haven't found one for the world of cider. This one is currently okay, but I'm looking for better.

Informative and easy to use!Must have for anyone who loves libations, apples and pears, or meeting good peoplePassionate, interesting, funny. The first three words that came to mind as I sat to write this review. My family are aspiring cider makers and found Cider Chat during a desperate search for any and all information about cider, cider making, and fruit growing. Boy does Ria deliver! Her guests are the real deal - pioneers in the field, knowledgeable, and good human beings. Makes us eager to join their ranks! Every episode we've listened to has been chock full of great information, great stories, and great people. Ria's own knowledge and experience making cider for multiple decades contributes too as her questions are thoughtful and provoking. Great mix of topics, from drinking to making to growing to juicing to meeting up. It's all there, in one place - in Ciderville. If you're at all interested in cider making, fruit growing, or artisans and their craft, grab a glass and join the chat. You'll stay for awhile, and be glad you did.

ATLPDXGreat info and conversationsFun to listen to all the different cider makers and approaches. Ria finds great guests and always good conversations. Good for cider enthusiasts of course but I think good for anyone interested in craft food and beverage. Very listenable.

BnLInAChinaShopA wide-angle perspective on the cider industryI've been listening to Cider Chat on the road between Guelph and our cider apple test orchard in Simcoe. As a graduate student working on cider apples, I've found that the perspectives of growers and others involved in making and selling cider are invaluable. What I love most about Cider Chat is that Ria talks to people from all types of background and experiences in cider- from big names who have been in cider for decades to people who are just starting and from growers to marketers. This is an exciting time to be in the cider industry, and Cider Chat is a great way to get acquainted with it. I'm only about 2/3 of the way through the chats at the moment, but it's great to hear from industry people that I already know and industry people I'd like to meet! Keep up the good work!

the Dude, dude.Great content but overproducedThe title says it all. Ria does a great job with her interviews and content. However, the music playing in the background during interviews is distracting at best and can, at times, really detract from the interview. The use of repetitive samples ("Going up.") coupled with the background music reminds me of a bad trance album. More focus on content and less on overproducing the show would really make it shine.

InvaderZzimmWonderful and informativeThis podcast is a hidden gem. Ria has produced a very interesting and informative podcast on the cider industry in America and abroad. She has a broad range of interviews ranging from apple growers, juice suppliers, and cider makers. In the short time I've listened to the show I've already learned much about new techniques to try to improve my own cider. Thanks Ria!

Don HutchesonReady to Quench Your Thirst?I just enjoyed a fascinating interview by Ria Windcaller, host of Cider Chat—the new podcast that interviews cider makers, importers, orchardists, foodies and other cider enthusiasts around the globe. scottalanturnerGreat contentThe cider industry is going to take off like craft beers did. There is some great information in here. I wanted to start making cider at one point (then I realized I couldn’t because apple trees don’t grow in Texas). Great information from those people that know how to do it.
