Meg WildeAmazing viewI binge listened to this podcast half a year ago. But it has so stuck with me and changed my ideas about objectivity and journalism. Like this morning, while getting cereal for my kids, I found myself mulling over the movement journalism episode, many months after hearing it. That’s a sign of a really powerful podcast and inspired me to leave a review. Thank you for creating it!

Jena_number_twoAmazing podTotally captivated when listening! Only have listened to the Queer Media and AIDS episodes so far which were amazing, will definitely be listening to more

TMT-DCExcellent exploration of “objective” reportingAnd why such a thing doesn’t exist. And why that’s good.

couragecolumbaOne of my favourite podcasts!I love this podcast and its wide ranging coverage of a topic that could not be more important or timely. The impossibility of objectivity was one of the core ideas in my women’s studies program almost three decades ago, and it’s fascinating how tenacious the opposite view is. Thanks for delving into the history of the idea of journalistic objectivity and exposing its use as a tool of opppression.

podcastrrrrEvery journalist should listenI work in podcasts and for a national news organization. I’ve been closely following recent news about conflicts in public media newsrooms and have always been passionate about the debates that go on ~inside newsrooms, bc I care about our role and also bc of my own identity. I dreamed of a podcast like this and was so thrilled to discover it on Twitter in June. Thanks Lewis and Ramona!

jspeytonVery Intriguing!Just listened to the first episode and I am thoroughly excited by this premise. I enjoy thoughtfully critical approaches to journalism, and this seems exactly that. Keep up the great work!

HelpersonetyGreat contact/too much vocal fryI read that only ‘old’ people find vocal fry irritating. This makes me sad because I’m only in my 50s. If younger people keep speaking like this I’ll have to stop listening to podcasts. This woman is terrific. I just can’t listen to her for more than 5 minutes.

S.mirkVery useful and on-point media criticismI wanted to write a review to say thanks for making this show! I’m putting together a syllabus for a media studies class at a community college and want to use all free resources (rather than a textbook). This show is perfect! I’m going to build several class sessions around episodes 1 and 2 and 3 and encourage students to keep listening.

WorldWideWadeShould be required listening for all who are in, or care about, the mediaWe journalists are doing no one any favors if we pretend to dwell on some ethereal plane above the matters we're reporting on. It's not that we're living in a "post-truth" world; the facts are more important than ever. It's that there can be no such thing as a neutral point of view, and we might as well lean into that, while being transparent about our commitments and biases. Lewis is uniquely qualified to guide us on a journey toward a future where journalism is more inclusive, thoughtful, provocative, mission-driven, and unafraid.

Kiki DeLovelySo timely! So necessary!Wow! Is anyone else enticed by this podcast’s trailer? I’m so grateful for Lewis’ refreshing, honest, and multifaceted approach to journalism—he so beautifully breaks down the truth behind this false notion of objectivity (so mired in racism) and isn’t afraid to dig deep when it comes to intersectional politics—the type of politics we all need to be digging deeper into in order to bring about liberation for all. I, for one, can’t wait for the first episode to drop!

freddiebloomsNeccessary & powerful conversationsI'm so grateful for Lewis's work challenging 'objectivity' in journalism. Thanks for putting together this podcast, it's a gift to all of us striving to deconstruct our biases in favor of truth seeking.
