    I tried it.
So, I heard of this show from another show. Decided to give it a try. Did not get past the 7 minute mark of the first episode (which turns out to be episode 1, season 2, Broken). This is not what I came here to listen. Now, I might try again with season 1, episode 1 and give a better review and hopefully, just hopefully, it won’t be about orange man bad. For the mean time, I’ll just enjoy inflation.

    Overproduced
Probably great content. Too many competing sounds.

    A Legacy
The Stuff of Life was HowStuffWorks's first attempt at an edited, produced, and non-continuous podcast, and it was great. The subjects discussed felt important, and Julie did very well presenting them. The miscarriage one really stood out to us. Ultimately, this show's legacy is filled by all of the content that came after it. If you like The Control Group, The End of the World, or TransGenesis, listen to The Stuff of Life to see where those originated here.

    Great!
Love it! I’m not usually one to review but I feel as though I need to counteract the voters (in two senses of the word) who cannot take the reality of their decisions.

    Fanciful
Getting a little more of an anecdotal narrative in these off-beat stories makes for a podcast that feels much more like enjoying rather than studying.

    Background noise
Topics are interesting but not a fan of all the background sounds

Could not live up to its potential
Gave it a try, but they just couldnt make it happen for me. Maybe let it go too long. Change format, stop making everything political I dont know what could help it. It sad cause it has potential.

This used to be a great podcast
Are used to enjoy this podcast very much. Every since Donald Trump got elected the podcast has to talk about how things that Donald Trump does might mess things up. Get over the election and start making great progress everything in the world does not have to. Back to Donald Trump. You might enjoy the stuff of life if you smell the roses a little bit more. I didn't vote for Donald Trump nor do I like Donald Trump. Are used to like your podcast but you have ruined it.

    Too political!
Season 1 was good. Season 2 is incredibly political and biased. It seems to exist only to rub salt in the wounds of all. I know it's meant to get raw and emotional but it hurts and you feel vilified (no matter your orientation, gender, race, or political affiliation.) So not what I expect from the HowStuffWorks network. It tries to appear neutral and balanced but the subterfuge is easy to see through. Quite disappointed. I will continue to enjoy other HowStuffWorks podcasts that remain neutral in opinion and emphasize education. This is coming from someone that leans neither left or right and resents the two-party system.

    This is a great discovery
Wasn't sure what to make of this podcast at first, but now it's an essential listen for me. The topics are fascinating and Julie makes everything relatable to our every day lives.

    Love it
Great stories, awesome music keep working. I was worry that season 2 will be posponed for another year.

    Disappointed.
Loved it last year, but it's taken a political turn so I'm out. If you voted for Trump, pass on this. At least this host doesn't come right out and say, "if you voted for Trump, you voted for white supremacy", like the hosts at Stuff Your Mom Never Told You, but you get the message just the same.

    Get medicated and enjoy!
My wife has the Parkinson's disease and can no longer engage with the outer universe. She listens to this cast and I know it inspires her to cherish this short engaging world. I think this cast has been disconinued but I hope we can get it started again with positive ratings and this post. Any other medical marijana patients that cherish this cast? we do. Thank you and bless up!

    It's Good!
I went through all the back episodes of Stuff to Blow Your Mind and was absolutely astounded to learn that Julie left to do The Stuff of Life sometime last year. Fortunately, she's back with The Stuff of Life! These podcasts are researched, but more tidbits of info and ruminations about connections between different topics- more for us to think about the interconnectedness of life in general.

    Excellent!
Just discovered this excellent new podcast. Fascinating topics very well presented! Highly recommended to anyone!

    idealistic rhetoric
I feel like they take boring topics and try to make outlandish, epic connections. They try to be novel but end up being either boring, or just questionable. For example, "Weather is the go to conversation for strangers". Ok, pretty basic. Or: "Nature, then, IS weather." What does that even mean? That's super idealistic. I don't mind the parts where there are multiple people just having a discussion and throwing out extreme theories, such as "weather is a common scapegoat for peoples problems", but the show also presents these unfounded theories like they are trying to make them sound more credible than they are. The surface appearance of this show is a bit like Radiolab, which is well researched and has plenty of evidence for it's ideas. But The Stuff of Life is just opinions. I'm always left wondering why they actually believe these things, and if there is any reason to believe them. I really dislike it when the narrator makes extreme statements, in a manner that suggests we should just believe her because she's smart. I sounds like a bad summary paragraph in a childs essay, trying to be overlysentimental because they think that conclusions have to be epic.

    trying too hard
I gave this a try, but just couldn't stick with it. It felt like they took the idea of "soundscaped" to the next level. Some podcasts do this really well, but I feel like Stuff of Life was a disappointment. Too much distracting soundscapinig, not enough content.

    love the BGM so much!!!
i love the topics, and the music is definitely the highlight! I even hope there could be an album og the BGM! but why does it stop updating? T-T

    Another HSW hit!
What a great show! Interesting topics, good interviews, and I love the conversations with other HSW folks.

    Excellent Production
Just finished listening to Life at the Death Cafe and An Object Lesson and was quite impressed with the use of the synthesizer and its use in the stereo field.

    Too many background sounds
The topics are great, but you guys are trying too hard with the sound effects... Keep it simple. I really wanted to like this podcast as I listen to all the other stuff from How Stuff Works, but it is impossible. A lot of the sounds overpower the voices, and it is just too much. I haven't been able to listen to a full eposide.
  • 2PsInAPodcast
Seriously, what's with the background sounds?
I was excited and interested in the topics but I couldn't listen to an entire episode because of the ridiculously annoying background music/sounds. Every time I was relieved to finally just hear the sound of a lone voice, another would play! Whyyyyy
  • idiot savant
    It'a pretty ok
It's basically a less imaginative Invisibilia. Not a bad listen, tho

A wonderful addition to the Stuff family of shows.
I was a little sad to see Julie leave Stuff to blow your mind a while back, but this cast most definitely shows that it was for good reason. Most assuredly a podcast that I will continue listening too every time it pops up in my library.

Great addition to the "Stuff" family!
Great podcast! Proof again that, if it's about "stuff," it belongs in my podcast feed. Thanks!!

    Interesting
I have no doubt that this will be an entertaining and informative podcast. Julie Douglas oulines the reasons why behind some of life's biggest mysteries in a conversational way. This podcast also features interviews by experts in the topic and really fun audio transitions (shoutout to super producer Noel Brown). I love it, and cannot wait for the next episode!
  • Chellgo
    Can't wait for more!
I'm a fan of Julie's from when she worked on other Podcasts for how stuff works, this 1st episode was a great one. What a great topic to start things off with.

    Great First Episode
If the rest of the episodes are like this one you can't go wrong.
