A Romp Through Ethics for Complete Beginners

59

In this introduction to ethics, we shall be considering the underpinnings of ethical thought. We shall consider, for example, what it is for an action to be right or wrong, whether we can have moral knowledge and whether freewill is essential to morality. We shall reflect on four key ethical theories (virtue ethics, deontology, non-cognitivism and utilitarianism), looking at both their strengths and their weaknesses. We shall be looking at morality in the context of the individual and thecontext of society.

    These lectures are greatly helpful for those looking for an introductory level education to certain ethical philosophies. However trust me, you will begin to despise the elderly woman in the front row.

    CC vs. CC
    CC inside a television shape is the icon for Closed Captioning. This CC for Creative Commons is inside a circular shape.

    CC = Creative Commons
    The CC icon on this podcast is for "Creative Commons", not "closed captioned". Google it, and stop complaining.

    Closed captions rant
    Please! As a deaf person, I reserve the right to object to such egregious misuse of the CC icon. If a University doesn't understand how the option works, or what it is used for, either do some research or refrain from using the icon. I was really looking forward to using this app, and am very disappointed. Sincerely, MamaBenita

    The joke is not funny
    I was excited to see that big "CC" on the title page, so I downloaded it to my iPad pressed 'play' and... NO CAPTIONS SHOWED UP! What the hell kind of joke is this? It is not funny at all. :( :( :( ( Yes, I have the iPad set to show CC when available. )
